One more noobie question:

After the bike wash in the east earlier today, i was riding home and was wave down and stopped by some TP and Police and was ask for my license etc. They saw the new crashbar that i have installed and ask me if its come with my new bike, i told them i just add it for safety reasons. They then took down my name and then give back my license and ask me to drive safety.

As its my first time being stopped by a TP since i'm just a 2 week old rider, i would like to ask the experienced riders is it some routine check they just randomly do, or did i make a mistake and they want to summon me thats why ask me to stop? I don't believe that i was committing any error tho hmmm...any advices?

just a routine check. no worry.

by adding a crash bar does not violate any offences on TA200.

For crashbar addition, For what I know its only illegal for 4 wheels in sg .

In urbanised cities(eg: SG) crash bars are not allowed as LTA deemed that they can aggravate injuries to pedestrians in the event of a collision.

note tt only applies for 4 wheels.

for 2 wheels.. so far i have Never heared anybody got summon for that.

my 2 cents worth of knowledge..

kool man, thanks, that sure put a load off my mind........:p

Another question:

Its okay to mix different brand of petrol for the bike right? Because my first pump was shell 98, then just now my low fuel signal lighted up at about 300km travelled only so i pulled in to the nearest petrol station which was Mobil Esso and pumped a Ron 95, was sure if it will affect my bike or not. Advices pls? Thanks!

recalling back the days when i was real newbie, im even worst than you.

mixing of different brand of petrols are OKAY...

but its still better to stick to one brand..

All the petrols are the same, just that different company add different addictive into the petrol before they put it out on sales.

If you really want to take good care of your engine, its best to stick one brand of petrol as different petrol, the combustion rate might be different.

As for mixing of petrols, so far I have no negative feedback from users who pumped sg petrol. By mixing differet grade of petrol, most likely u're mixing 2 petrol with different compound together. You might get higher mileage, or lower mileage, depends.

for m'sian petrol , a lil different story.

shall not go too details into this, but if you int , you can ask me next time if you see me.

For me, I used to pumped VPower. It gives me good power and acceleration but the combustion is a lil too fast for me. Thus i only clocked ard 230 -240 before reserve.

I changed to 98, give me an average TA200 mileage of 300-320 before hitting reserve.

Theres one time when I left ard 1/4 tank (estimate) of 98, I changed over to Caltex 97. To my surprise for that tank, i Hitted around 450km with only half of my reserved tank used. That was the best mileage i ever get.

But I'm not gonna mix petrol often as i might not know what damages it has it will do to my carb/piston in a long run.

Currently Im still sticking to caltex .agg mileage is ard 370-380 .

I think if u pump a different petrol when u hit reserve (or nearing reserve) it should be no problem as the ratio of mix will be quite high. But if u deliberately mix e.g. half tank Vpower with half tank Esso 95.... then it is a different story. Better be safe then sorry :thumb:

for my bike, i realise that v power pull down my top speed by 10km/h...

I've always been mixing

Case of pump at whichever petrol kiosk I happen to be at...

for example, I might have a 1/2 tank of Caltex Vortex Gold, but at the 2nd link only Esso and Petronas are available.

does that mean I don't pump?

hmm.... my point was that we really dunno what is gonna happen when we mix petrol, so to be safe then sorry, I feel that it is betta not to deliberately mix fuels in near equal ratios. No doubt sometimes this cannot be helped, as per your case...

Just my opinion nia

Camchain or valve noises.... unless it get's really loud then you've probably got a problem.

Remedies then would include change of camchain tensioner, vlave clearance.

Speaking of which don't know whether to go for a top-end service soon..... hmmmmm

Hmm... whats involved in "top end service"?

Bascially, it's checking the valve tappets clearances...

Since we are on the topic of petrol and stuff, another question would to be:

For me, Esso/Mobil (5000) 95 gives me better mileage than Shell 95. Never tried any other brands yet.
