need your expert opinion.. on the way home my cbr somewhat broke down..

 

while i was travelling @ roughly 80km/h i heard loud rattling noises at the bottom. i thought the chain BROKE! so i pulled to one corner and wanted to come to a stop. then i realized i cant shift up or down. the clutch lever suddenly so hard. funny thing is, the engine still can rev rev. BUT the bike wont move. even in gear 1/2/3/4/5/6.. It's like macam the gears are all in 'neutral'.

 

oya, chain is infact intact and not broken.

 

in conclusion, it feels like the gears cannot click into place to catch the chain or sumtin.. nt sure but feels like it.

 

Anyone experience this before? helppp

 

my mechanic said likely an overhaul needed. gona drop by again tomorrow.. =x

how do i interpret witnessing TP bike engine stall?

 

both TP & i were at junction with traffic light timing that is different frm normal. TP not familiar w/ e junction so he (1) kick into gear 1 when lights were not turning green (2) engine stall after he wanted to change back to neutral.

That does sound serious... based on what you have mentioned, it sounds like a gearbox overhaul.

im no expert.

but i tink it has got to do w/ the clutch plates.

if u are still able to observe normal RPM behavior as u turn yr throttle, parts like engine, block, con-rod, etc shouldnt have been the cause of the rattling sound. perhaps u can try to confirm whether u are still able to clutch in fully. if yes, maybe problem lies in gears (i.e. problem just got bigger). if no, then maybe it is just the clutch.

 

cause of the problem aside, the damaged clutch plates may lead to damage to other parts of the engine, like gears, etc. do not attempt to further stress the damaged parts by forcing the bike to move. may result in further damage to other parts.

 

do share w/ us the findings of yr workshop~
