nils, just curious.

from where u are now, do the authorities have any strict regulations about exhaust systems? like say, do u need a ridiculous certificate like here in stinkapore?

I think we have only got sound limit restrictions, nothing serious or restrictive like in sgp... lucky us :)

lucky u indeed. everything is so by-the-book here.

I was running similar tyre pressures and I lost my rear in a corner. So I am mildly concerned with such high pressures.

It's not the tyre pressure/cornering angle/full face/safety gear.

It's the safety mindset.

eh my Tristan Park pictures how ah? fell into the ditch with that bike also ah?

aiyo... it's the riders who are dining TOGETHER, not the bikes. no need so lovey-dovey.

you want also can park at Marina Square, it's free parking there.

Suntec free parking btw, in case u guys are wondering. Enter through convention centre, free parking. Enter through carrefour and walk all the way to convention centre, also free parking.

The safety mindset does encompass safety gear and safety checks right? Thinking that the safety mindset will keep you safe is just plain bollocks.

thanks for sharing!

by the way, does it mean that prior to the thermostat allowing coolant to enter the engine, it means all that pumping of coolant by water pump is actually useless?

:cheeky:

According to my knowledge. Until the reaching of operating temperature the coolant pumped just goes back to the radiator avoiding the engine. But I guess using operating temp here is wrong. Coolant just starts to run through the engine once the min temp is gained. This doesn't take much time in a normal hot day. But in cold weather this helps a lot.

Dont worry about him. His rear tyre is the biggest among us (120/80). So wont lose contact with the road 1. Anyway, our CBR also quite heavy so the risk of losing contact is quite slim. Unless u cornering @ top speed.

Also, do u know that in less develop country, they pump tyre just by estimation. Pump alrdy kick kick, not enough pump again. No measurement 1. Just like what those bike shops did when they just change ur tyre. If I not wrong the last time I change tyre, I went to shell immediately to re-pump (learn from Kenneth 1). It detected 3XXkpa.

Why not we ask our friend 'Kumudug', what pressure he usually pump.

I pump 230 front & 280 rear BT39 110/70. I still feel my rear tyre pressure not enough when pillion pai seh. Just follow the recommendation from the tyre itself, Kenneth told me 1.

I pump 30 to the rear and 28 to the front. I have a 130 tire in the rear.

Even though I live in a non developed country we have the digital air pumps in filling stations :p

Kenneth, remember the ??? bike we saw outside Zouk? it's the Yamaha R125. yes, it's different from the Yamaha R15.

we kena bluff. lame...

Of course yamaha YZF R125 and R15 are totally different bikes. I saw a YZF R125 in a bikeshop in sweden and it was a really nice looking bike. Its a 125cc bike. R15 is made my yamaha india and it doesn't look that good when compared to the R125. But R15 also looks ok.

Good Q, not a clue. Still using original exhausts and the sound seems pretty decent to me. Actual limit is around 75dB if I'm not mistaken...

hi ceedric, congrats on getting ur cbr! =) do join us for dinner if ur free

hmm i dun have any experience but if u ask me i would note down his particulars, take some pics of the scene, bring bike to idac for a review

check if the dmg serious enough to warrant an insurance claim =x imo thats safer, in the event the van driver decides to run off without paying for the damages

however if just minor scratches, can consider signing an agreement letter with the driver and make sure that after he paid

the case is closed and he dun suddenly turn around and start claiming ur insurance or chut some nonsense stunt.

baby, u're my love..

which insurance company did u get yr bike insurance from?

if it's NTUC Income, proceed to nearest IDAC (google for what's IDAC if u r unsure) for visual inspection done. this inspection must be done within 24hrs of the accident. along w/ inspection, they will take down the details u provide + other drivers' details that u have.

if it's not NTUC Income, this IDAC inspection thing may not apply. simply call up the insurer hotline and check with them on the claims process.

:goodluck:

the insurers can advise on which workshops u may approach for repairs. i got a feeling that the car driver will attempt to claim damages frm u. if this is the case, u need to produce evidence that the blame is on the van driver. i feel the van driver may be quite willing to fork out money (if he has any to spare) to settle any damages since he was using a phone while on the road.

The cops are probably riding the new 800cc VFR. This bike can be pretty quiet cause u dont need the high revs with the V4 engine. I especially like the sound I get when I let go of the throttle - the heavy busting sound, something you typically wouldn't get from the CBR150...

Cedric: congrats on your new bike - too bad u get into an accident straightaway. Just shows that when u r on a bike, u must pay attention to traffic always and expect the unexpected. Distance is a life saver!
