woo, went down to ah boy with a friend looking for helmets, FF4 mostly out liao, now is FF5. haha. Can i ask if it is normal for Lsize to be too small for a FF helmet? I fit in a XL sized FF3, and not a L sized FF4.

Yes and No, depends if you head is cone shaped or round shaped.

if coned shape like me, best to buy the size that fits PERFECTLY. I.E. You wear L open face but L full face cannot fit well, pls get an XL. Yes the cushion will wear with time... but until that time, you will always have a headache when you wear your helmet... not fun at all.

just changed my tensioner, RK chain, sprockets set, front left bulb, 1 tachometer bulb, and end-handle bar balancers today.

Total damage: $210....

broke now :pity: but my bike is happy

the engine was giving knocking sound in the morning which would go away after 5 mins of riding. Now i know that noise is due to tensioner getting worn out :o

anybody know how long can the timing chain last typically? my bike is FX plate (2003) with 43K mileage.

don: red. didnt like the matte parts on the black cos it would be a pain to maintain it scratchless.

What the charges for your tacho bulb.... all my tacho bulb gone case already but i can't be bothered to change cos i hardly look at it.

I changed my tensioner and timing chain at 105,000km... now already 129,000km and still going strong... if take care don't over whack the bike for prolonged periods and jagar your engine oil... can last another 100,000km no problem!! (Mine also FX plate)

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

its $5/pc inclusive of installation. They may charge higher if you come just for the bulbs though

Changed 2pcs 4months ago, last time was the speedos.

i can't stand looking at half lit speedo or tacho, dunno, it bugs me to no end :cheeky:

hmm... 100K ah...

I bought this bike 7months ago and the odo was 33K (seller said its underutilized). I clocked 10K in this period myself. im thinking now it may actually 133K hehee...

Point taken, will remember that the cushion will soften over time. haha. guess ive to bear with headaches for intial wear.

FYI,

that is very educational, thank you! will apply those points the next time i go try out helmets.

awesome vid! good for those enquiring abt whether to get a FF helmet, as the size, fit and feel for those are pretty different from the the open-faced ones.

changed my timing chain at 92,000km after i get the rattling noise again not long after a tensioner change. i guess how long the chain can last depends quite a fair bit on the style of riding adopted.

while i was googling around on timing chain replacement frequently, the rule of thumb for cars running on belts (not chain) was around 90,000 to 100,000kms. :goodluck:

just go get T10 wedge bulbs.

some shops in Sim Lim Tower as well as the motorshop oppo Sim Lim Tower (Mah Motorparts) carry colored bulbs in pink, green, blue, orange, etc.

$1 per bulb and we need 4 bulbs in total if i dint remember wrongly.

pls note these are non-OEM im talking abt. :)

Correct. Tacho bulbs need 4, not 2 as one would assume.

Thx for the tips guys.... i don mind after or before market la... as long as i can see the freaking dash at night... but i think also no point cos the dash lights are wired to the bike alternator and not the battery.... so when i stop also i can't see **** anyway.

On a related note, how to access the dash circuit board? Whole head must come out?

Actually timing chain for bikes is good to do it once after 100 k kms.

If not if u heck it and let it go "tet-tet-tet" it will eat up the shims which are small little spacers near the valve... so u will get lesser power and noisier and irritating engine...

For Cbr i would think it would be good to do it if u are going to keep the bike for long like zeddo, don, chris and justin. When a bike reaches 100k... many things in it are due already.. and since u are going to keep the bike why not invest a lil more and let it go much longer?

BUT, if u don't want... then nvm lar. U know... your $$ i cant say anything right? But put it this way.. you have 1 cylinder.. so just pamper it abit more because thats the main heart... If u have 4 5 or 6 cylinder... then... by all means lor.

and 2b bike open top do a half overhaul also quite cheap ma hahah

prolly $200+ u are getting a almost new engine liao lo.

There is no replacement for displacement, except for Ah Seng

last time when i wanna do some rect jobs on my cbr, i would buy the whole load of stuff that is nearing the area and change..

for eg, i will remove my sai tao and change the blown meter lights, clean up abit inside, lub lub abit here and there...

chris u can just buy the T10 filament bulbs... LED can also la.. but good to get the 360deg one so u can see all around instead of one spot.
