hey guys, dunno if anyone of u can help me with this:

how do we restore an oxidised patch on a bike/car? The colour is fine, its the clear coat layer that has become a glazed sheen. how did it get there? well, i think it was from a sponge with some form of cleaning agent on it. i didnt know it had the cleaning agent, so i used it as an applicator to wax my bike. after buffing it off, i saw the area on the petrol tank has been oxidised.

it seemed like a glazed layer over it, pretty much like that of frosted glass. and can see the swirl marks on this "cloudy layer" which were made while applying the wax. yes it does seem like a matte bike, with its glazed/cloudy/hazy sheen.

as for the feel of it, it feels a bit rough, not as in sandpaper texture, but its definitely not the ultra smooth surface of a waxed area, more of the texture of say, a table top. it doesnt feel like plastic nor metal.

ok, i hope i have provided enough info for this. as far as i know, a "stripped" or damaged layer of clear coat is pretty much irreversible. there are products that restore a little oxidation from the sun, but not if its damaged to the extent of it being "stripped" by chemical agents right? does that mean a new paint job, or a clear coat/lacquer job is in order? any idea where and how much to get it done?

any tips (if there are any) would be seriously appreciated!

just trying to rationalise this. if the paint color is not affected, try applying somemore of those wax or what-not products to restore the glossy effect on the affected area. the idea is to create a new 'clear coat'. it may require more effort since the base is kind of glazed, but i tink it is achievable. effect-wise, prolly u wont get back 100%, but can be good enough to cover-up.

need to bear in mind that some of these polish or wax products may only be specifically suitable for plastic or metal surfaces. :goodluck:

What do i need to know as a new rider and can intro me about CBR150? Or any other 2B bike that are recommended? I'm open to all precious information given. thanks

i duno how to intro e bike to u. but it may be good to know general differences between 2 & 4 stroke bikes and also the corresponding maintenance necessary.

:goodluck:

Ah don.. It wasnt the wax that did the damage, it was the sponge that was used to apply it. Probably contained smth which really ate into the clear coat while it was left to dry with the wax. Really seems like no cure huh. In my heart i already know lah, just hoping to try my luck here. Sigh..

I think accidentedly splashed petrol on tank when pumping and didn't notice....

from my experience bike stuff that eats into paint are petrol, Brake fluid and engine oil.... i know because all 3 have eaten into my paint at some point of time.... LOL!

Shuan use sticker and cover it up ba if really cannot ....

ppl...im going overseas trng soon....for like 7 weeks....what are the available options for my bike?

what you want to do with the bike? 7 weeks can just pay 2 months season parking and let the bike sleep there.... but may have to change battery when you come back.

hi everyone, i've just bought a cbr150 myself. Just thought maybe you guys could help me with something.

1.First thing first, my bike will sort of from 5th gear drop to neutral sometimes. Is this a sign that my clutch plates are worn? Or am i kicking the gear too lightly?

2.Also, i've experienced uneven braking at the front brake. When i apply gradual braking, as i depress the brake lever harder, it will not increase the brake pressure until i press even harder it will sort of jam the brake. What should i do to rectify this problem?

3. Lastly, what are the typre pressures required front and back tyres?

Many thanks. =)

1. Yes

2. Check your brake lines any leak or worn... if yes change..... if no, bleed brakes.

3. 200/220kPa, but i don bother.... both also whack 220...

can explain bout engine drinking EO?and any other options available for bikes that will not be left attended for 7 weeks due to overseas trng?

Posted
Yes worn...

30+km/l... Bike heavy... 3 boxes fully loaded. Bird stone battalax

i see. do u know that the tyre pressure stated on BT39 is max 280 kpa?

i believe 220 is not enough, this could be the reason y ur FC below average.

can explain bout engine drinking EO?and any other options available for bikes that will not be left attended for 7 weeks due to overseas trng?

mentioned earlier by someone, but couldnt rmbr who. what u can do is to disconnect all the wiring from the batt. this would prevent ur batt being drained. this way, u dont need to change or charge ur batt when u come back.

best is to be warm up at least twice a week if u do hve someone who can do it for u. if u dont, do the above.

when u get back after 7weeks, pls go change ur eo.

Guys, ride safely. Road is not for playing.

1. yes, likely to be clutch plates gone.

2. is yr bike new or 2nd hand? if 2nd hand, how many years old is it? if the bike is like 5yrs old or above and is still on stock rubber brake hose, suggest to change. there is also chance that the brake pump kit needs replacement.

3. i usually whack 240kpa for both front & rear.

can explain bout engine drinking EO?and any other options available for bikes that will not be left attended for 7 weeks due to overseas trng?

EO is for lubrication of engine parts. piston rings are supposed to keep engine oil away from the combustion chamber. overtime, as piston rings wear out, some EO may seep into the combustion chamber and gets burnt off along w/ the petrol.

i got a feeling that even by disconnecting the battery, the battery is also likely to drain out flat over 7weeks. suggest u familiarise yrself with push starting the bike.

i think there is no perfect substitute for actually warming up the bike & riding it around so that the bike gets some workout. so next best alternative is to at least get someone to warm up the bike once every few days while the bike is parked.

I'm looking to make money out of money, however I have no idea where to begin. And that sucks

the equity market now is like a cut off the peak of 2007, even though GSS is over. :D Might wanna consider making an informed and properly-planned investment to cushion the pain of rising prices of almost everything in sgp. :S

back to track, may i ask what is the worst case scenario consequences of leaving a bike untouched for prolonged period of time? my uncle's bike has been sitting around for quite some time.
