wah.. i think i better do a mechanic shop soon..

anw, i alr encountered a prob. my bike will rev up on its own :confused:. for eg, im in neutral gear, the bike suddenly rev up till 5rpm without me touching the accelarator. and when i switch to gear 1, the bike will move by itself when i release the clutch (didn't touch the accelerator). anybody know wad's wrong?

hmm.. for the 1st problem, i tink u must go to bike shop and ask them to check.. but for ur 2nd problem, i tot is normal? If in gear 1, and u half clutch without touching the throttle, ur bike will still move due to it has reached the biting point rite? If u let go ur clutch further, the engine will stall.. this is frm my observation.. either that, or ur clutch cable is loose, or too tight.. hehe.. can't help u much. best is send to bike shop to check :smile:

yup nowadays really see a lot liao. not surprising lah, with the bikes wonderful Fuel consumption and practicality, consumers will choose to get the best deal mah.

as for the chain, i will say it depends un ur riding style, check ur sprockets by seeing if the teeth are nice and round or sharp and thin. worn sprockets will appear sharper and thinner than it used to be due to wear and tear.

chain see how much slack there is? another tell tale sign is when the chain cannot be tighten anymore right? the rear axle there would have been maxed to the end le.

i will estimate the stock chain to have a lifespan more than 10k mileage. perhaps 15k or 20k ba. :smile: :smile:

alright.. thanks for the info.. now mileage juz reached 10000km.. so will be expecting some changes soon.. anyway, anyone knows roughly how much is a set of sprockets and chain? i was quoted $130 for a set of sprockets and chain(o-ring).. and for better performance, what size of sprockets is recommended? for front and back.. and what is the current stock size of those sprockets?

what do u mean by vibrate much? while riding at what speed? or juz vibrate much while idling? .. I thought school bikes tend to vibrate more at ard 70km/hr due to the school's re-tuning of the bikes?..

Aiyo, sad to hear that. Better go and check. The bike should not even vibrate at 100km/h. My bike will vibrate abit at 130km/h onward.

Check whether there is enough air in the tyre, front 44psi and back 52psi, and whether the tyre spec is correct. My bike tyre is under spec, smaller both front and back than manufacter specification when i received it. Change to a pair of bridgestone for $210. Dunno whether expensive or not but i don care as long as the mec do until suysuy. My live is in their hand, so far job well done :)

reving up by itself is definately not normal. please go to a bike shop and check it out.

as aman said, half clutch the bike will move by itself den. normal mah, biting point.

if u're talking about u kick down to gear 1 without throttling the bike move off, den it's either ur clutch plate gone liao or the freeplay is too little liao, need to re-adjust it. ask the bike shop do it all for u ba.

not normal too, oops, CBR150R is supposed to be a very smooth single cylinder 4 stroker de. i had rode both CBR150R and phantom, i can say that the CBR150R is soooo smooth compared to the phantom.

wonder what's wrong with ur bike. do ride carefully hor, dun speed until u rectify all problems. :giddy: :giddy:

not so sure about pricing but limbat had tried changing his sprocket before. he changed to a smaller rear sprocket in the hope of reaching a higher speed.

end up acceleration become slower. *chuckle* dunno if he managed to hit higher top speed. i thought the bike might be too underpowered to go even higher. maybe u try already can update us. :smile: :smile:

Can anyone enlighten me as to what's the difference between the 125 and the 150 version besides the cc of course? Some of my friends told me to stay away from the 125 version but I'm not really sure why. Also, how "heavy" is this bike maintenance wise? Cough alot?

Any help?

Current Rides:

FEB 07 -> NOV 08 [CBR 150]

AUG 08 -> AUG 12 [XJR400]

AUG 12 -> ??? [DUCATI MONSTER 696]

what about underpower.. sometime even start bike from cold engine.. rev example from 0-5k rpm.. the rpm will stop abit at 2k rpm.. need to rev harder then can overcome it.. mean the gear is abit not smooth..

2nd)sometime in 5th gear suddenly like that current gear is jam(like neutral) rpm will juz go up before. its like gear not engage.. still cant figure it out..

i havent encountered the 1st problem, but certainly the 2nd. damn dangerous. usually quite high speed the suddenly it goes neutral with high rev. what i do is i usually just shift a gear down then up again. think never shift the gear in properly i guess. must make a very sure tap.

i heard it is called slip of the clutch plates.. i always encounter it if i didn't kick the gear all the way. sometime i quite lazy to kick all the way, so i tink the gear move only like halfway.. actually after encountering it, no need to really tap the lever. all i do was just clutch in and release. and it will be ok liao.. hope tis helps :cheeky:

it's actually quite normal for the chains to be loose after a few mths of riding. how long the chain lasts depends on how well u take care of it, like chain lube it etc.. i nv clean b4, juz spray it wif chain spray, cos quite lazy.. hehe.. usually, after a few mths, wen my chain slackens, i juz go to the bikeshop and ask them to tighten it for me. cost me $2 for workmanship although the process looks quite easy. can try doing it myself but since it concerns the tyres, i better not try it, just in case i did anything wrong.. haha..

Guys, im thinking of giving up my cbr and getting an S4.

Does anyone know the diff in maintanence cost btw the 2? I mean, is it a horrendously huge difference? Because a cbr is so easy to maintain..

Such a waste to let it go.. Moreover, mine works very well. no problems, no issues. Except from the usual annoying rusting which i have to keep autosol-ing.

I used chain wax only a few times, until it seems to me that the chain wax loosen the chain faster than normal lubricant, so I stop using it.
