Insurance + Road Tax

hi guys..i need help on this and i appreciate your advice

 

my road tax is expiring soon and i havent got the paper disc yet? how do i do abt getting it?

 

my insurance and road tax does not tally together, and i know that i can't renew road tax if insurance short of 6 mths left.(something like dat, sorry if explanation a bit unclear.)

how do i go abt paying it? do i have to pay pro-rated price someething like dat?

i got no problems for renewing..its just how long (6 mths/12mths/pro rated)? so that my insurance and road tax can be renewed without problems the next time.

I know road tax cannot be renewed if there is no insurance..... dun think can pro-rate, but you can choose the one closest to the renewal date of your choice

No paper disc then the only way is to go to LTA and request.This is what i was told when i went to a Vicom centre when i was in a similar situation to yours.

i do know that the bike cannot be ride on road without a insurance and i do not intend to ride it anyway. I want to delay the renew of insurance for about 1.5 month. but the road tax will be expire by then. renewing road tax (late 1.5month) is quite heavy on the fine. any advice?

All i can say is dun get caught or get into accident

Otherwise u claim nothing.

Some places like renew at post office, the counter-staff doesn't ask the paper from u. So u might want to risk it.

here is the reason of my question.

 

the youngest rider in the insurance is 25 yr old this year and the birthday is 4 july. the insurance date of the bike is dated 1 week earlier.

 

the road tax expire at the end of june.

 

.........

 

next yr when renew insurance, the youngest rider will still be 25 yr old becos they count by the date. the different between a 25 and a 26 yr old is over $200 (quite a lot).

 

i am hoping if i can renew the road tax at june.

 

**the bike WILL NOT BE RIDE during it period of "without insurance". it will totally not be ride at all and park at the carpark.

 

Then buy a insurance after 4 july.

 

The only "issue" is i have to renew the road tax in june with a insurance that has less then 6 month. do u guys understand from my point of view.

You can't just put the bike aside without renewing insurance and road tax. LTA will issue fines for late renewal of road tax because the motorcycle is already registered to be use on the road.

 

You can de-register the bike, then register the bike again with insurance and road tax when you turn 26 yrs old. But the process and cost does not favour you too.

 

So I recommend that you pay that $200 for that 1 yr age difference. Will save you alot of trouble and money.

 

ELSE! Approach other insurance/road tax outlets and ask them whether can renew base on 26 yrs old. If you happen to know anyone working in this field, lagi best... should be able to work out something I believe...

Just to deviate abit.

 

For car road tax, it can be renewed by post. So there must a system to check whether the vehicle has valid insurance.

I think if nv remember wrongly will be ard 1+ month b4. Dun worry if u nv receive can juz bring your insurance , log card and IC down to LTA or VICOM then can renew liao.

As a service, LTA will send a road tax renewal notice to the vehicle owner about one month before the expiry date.

 

 

If you do not receive it 2 weeks before the expiry date, please call the Land Transport Authority at 1800-CALL LTA or 1800-225 5582 for another renewal notice to be sent.
