Hi I need some advice from the old birds and experts please.

For the past one-two weeks or so, I am having difficulties exiting carpark gantries. I have checked that my IU is connected, Cashcard is loaded, IU able to read my Cashcard

I have no problems clearing ERP gantries on expressways and the Cashcard funds were deducted.

But recently I suddenly keep having problems with carpark gantries at HDB carparks. I have no issues going into the carpark, but whenever I exit the carpark, the gantry keep saying "No IU Detected" or "No entry record". It always insists me to insert Cash card manually into the machine. Half of the time, it will fail to deduct and I have to keep inserting it until it is successful. In the end I always hold up the queue. I have tried with various carparks in the north area - yishun & woodlands

What do you think it is the problem? The problem only came recently.

I am now very worried whenever I enter a carpark, especially those with slopes!

Many and many HDB gantries are faulty but they dont want to admit it. Near my place at bukit batok, both in and out there will be a long q waiting causing great jam. riders who want to use less than 10 minutes will have to pay because the vehicles infront kept on getting stuck.

keep calling intercom, either they dont answer or say use the card to put in their machines.

they dont believe its their gantry spoilt.

one thing i dont understand : on sunday where in places where its free from certain period, why need to keep putting up and down the gantry?? just put it up lah.why waste current and also cause the machine to get spoil easily? if you want to know how many vehicles go in, i am sure there is a better way.

Thanks. I refused to park in HDB carpark with gantries these two days. It is not because I don't want to pay, but I dislike to be honked @ exit points.

And here i thought i was the only one having this problem.

When did the issues start occuring? What happened?

I wonder do these happened to specific carpark operators such as Wilson Parking, RamK or affects all operators

i dont know if they (HDB) collect information from the various vendors and see whats are the solution because obviously like the one near my place after almost a year, the problem still persist.

while i have not written to HDB because I have a feeling their answers will be standard, SO i dont bother

I also had multiple problems with specific carpark ERP readers that cannot read my IU.

After some long observations I realized that those ERP readers that are mounted very low (due to low basement/multi-storey ceiling) and or mounted at the center of the lane (facing vehicles) are those that give a lot of problems!

Some examples:

Raffles city (in), MSCP beside NEX (exit), Marina parade MSCP beside NTUC (exit), Bishan MSCP with circular ramp beside J8 (exit)

Those open shelter car-park that had ERP readers mounted in the center island facing vehicles diagionally 45 degree are the least problematic ones.

My friend had a similar problem with his car. Initially, he's always able to enter NUS & NTU carpark but whenever he exit, always no IU detected. At our office, he was able to get in & out without issues. No problem crossing ERPs too. Then he start to get the same problem with more carparks. He email LTA about his problem and they send him to VICOM for IU check. VICOM tested no problem but at some carparks, he still get the 'No IU detected' message. He continue writing to LTA and finally they let him change.... FOC. Now with the new IU, he's had no problem with the car parks. He mentioned that the IUs have a life span of 5 years only. Hope it helps.

Is the IU using the RFID technology? If yes, then it is possible as the IU will be the passive transponder. Much like a capacitor/battery. Over time it will get weaker and harder to detect.

If you are riding a new bike (less than 5 years old), then do what my friend did. You might be able to get a free replacement like him. Otherwise, you can look for after market ones and change it. Hopefully not too expensive.

About the gantry parking, it will read your IU unit. I believe, the town council will not need to update your IU on their database for the gantry to recognize you r a season ticket holder. They should be able to know your IU unit serial number since it is available at LTA database.

But if you replace the IU, you need to register with LTA to update their database. Then you need to update Town Council to update their database.

Is there any parking lots around the estate beside the MSCP? If there is, it could be the MSCP ERP is only for Season parking. While the Estate ERP is for hourly parking.

sometime might could be the scanner position problem or IU position problem. =X

Then maybe to monitor how many cars go into the estate but never go into the MSCP.

In other words.... monitor how many cars are illegal parking lor.

Come to think of it, it seems that by having 2 gantry, drivers can go into the estate and even if they don't use the MSCP, they still have to pay when they exit.

The worse part is they put humps near the IU detection area...when cannot detect I got to push the bike back and forth. And the stu*** hump..wa lau..:faint:

HDB...you want collect money zhun zhun...ok fine..but please ensure your system in tip top condition to collect! Every morning all the cars jam up because of this. And yes OP, I kana the North point ERP parking slope loh. They think our bike got reverse gear? So easy to tarik? I side stand my bike I also scared it roll down man..side stand liao go to comms them open the stu*** gantry
