seriously...what kind of protection the gloves offer if we *touch wood* fall?

if our hand is going to break, it will prevent scratches at the most...

or is it more for the grip?

obviously u have never had your skin scrapped off your hand on the road right?

yeah.. maybe someone can enlighten us? =D and where to get? im looking for something below $100.. hahaha..

motoworld has a lot of pretty good gloves under $100... you'll be spoilt for choice

boring rider. with a boring bike.

too old to want to appear interesting anymore.

The day i quit riding,

Is when those whom I love,

Cry every time I get on my motorcycle.

The reason why i wear gloves besides the control and grip i have on my handlebars, is because of my bicycle experience. If you have ever fallen on your hands when you riding bicycle, its damn pain. Now imagine doing it at 50km/h. Pain sia.

i still cant get the fact that when in sch you use gloves and covered shoes to ride, when you gotten your license you dun..

even after you fell with abrasions to your feet and hands, you still continue to ride without the basic gears..

EVEN you had your last 2 toes amputated, you still ride with slippers..

some just dun learn, even the hard way..

i do where gloves even on 100cc or 1000cc . its a minimum requirement for me . i don't care if some riders look & smile at me in a sarcastic way wen i'm wearing gloves , ff helmets , armored jacket wen riding my bike (cub) . Its my hand , my head , my body & i'm the only want who r responsible if anything happen.

I crash at 35km/h on bicycle before.. thankfully I had my gloves on. But I still broke my arm :(

At all times!

And of course with all my other gears: mesh armoured riding jacket, full-face helmet, knee-shin guards and boots.

No need to be embarrassed. I've been wearing all these gears since my Phantom TA200 days.

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:

I tink i am embarrassed for my lack of safety.

Only full face helmet.. no riding gear or gloves.

Tink i need to change my behaviour.

this made me LOL! :thumb:

anyway i started off not wearing gloves also, enjoy the "naked" feeling of hand against throttle :) but i wear a pair of gloves now, it does make you feel a lot better equipped to ride. and also, kind of makes me adopt the driving school mentality and ride more conservatively.

wearing gloves really makes a difference.

I went down once a few years back... Skidded and ended up gliding on my hands for long enough...

Without gloves, I reckon I would have left pieces of bones on the asphalt.

Furthermore, the knuckles protection was destroyed on one hand...

Soooooo glad I was wearing my beloved gloves...

I also wear gloves when raining. Rain hitting your hand at high speed hurts like hell.

A picture always tells a thousand words.

I didn't used to wear gloves until what happened four years ago. See attached picture. (If anyone wants a higher resolution picture, you can PM me)

That was just my right palm. There's still my left palm, my two knees, (Good thing I wore jeans), and my toes (Unfortunately I wore only sandals).

At that time, I was studying and teaching sports-climbing. You can imagine how my life was affected. Couldn't ride for more than a month, I couldn't teach, I can't wear shoes properly, and my gf had to help me change the dressing for my palms and knees everyday. It was certainly not an experience you want to try.

To cut the story short, nowadays whenever I ride, even if its just a few blocks away, I'll make sure I put on my gloves and wear proper shoes. Definitely no shorts and slippers/sandals. (I've been wearing ff since day one, and I was riding a TA150 that time)

The motorcycle presents you a challenge to master the machine, a challenge to adventure. You ride through the wind, linked to the road by a vehicle that responds to your commands as no other does...

Protective Riding Gears are to be used for riding!

Not for comfort, not for fashion, not for showing off your financial capability.

Neither the brand nor the price tag of the gear is going to determine the level of protection. When browsing for your gears, consider the material and strength test the product. Looking handsome or pretty in front of the mirror are for gays.

Would you drive a Go-kart on the highway? My analogy is to mock at driving a car without airbags and a roof suspended by the A & B pillar. if you won't, why ride with no protection?

Insufficient funds? Load of crap to me. Everyone fell in their life. Either by foot, cycling, sports or riding. There's no *touch wood* burn joss stick miracle to float you up in a fall. Don't empty your bag of luck. There ain't no top ups. Majority of motorcycle on the road looks aesthetically impressive. Does it come free? Seat wraps, Vinyl Sticker, paint job, replacing stock mirrors for cool looking sets, renthal bars, streetfighter looks, chrome this chrome that, matt black this matt black that, red theme, black theme, pink theme, the list goes on.... all that was mentioned does nothing to performance in braking, traction nor stability. we are all culprits of tipping our financial scale for beauty over purpose.

There is an unspoken aura of respect and guilt while at the junctions, meeting a fellow rider with basic protection (FF, armour jacket, glove, boots & jeans) and our eyes naturally roll down to the machine that they are straddling over.

Sports, Tour, Street, Dirtbike = Logical.

Scooter, Cruiser,

Does the gravel feel different when you fall from different objects?

Heat and discomfort when the gears are donned will be eliminated when the wind blowing and the adrenaline is pumping.

Riding only starts becoming Fun when worries are off our minds.

As claimed, There's a need to drive when we have a Family. But all that is needed to ride is Dream... Many are still dreaming about it.
