so if you wanna wear gloves..wear those with a plate covering your knuckles?

No...you are missing the point entirely.

The whole point of wearing gloves is to protect your hands and wrists(for long gloves) from the abrasive impact the occurs when you find yourself sliding all over the damn tarmac when you happen to *touch wood* fall.

True that gloves won't help much to prevent your hands from suffering a fracture but like mentioned before, its gonna do alot in preventing you from needing a skin graft n finger print reconstuction. Even sliding across the tarmac can an possibly will give you a an exposed finger bone, especially at the joints. i.e. knuckles.

You don't need titanium plates to save your fingers, a simple and less fanciful full fingered glove with appropriate protection at the joints will do its job effectively.

Lastly, gloves will also prevent over-sliding, told to me by ken from JR. A good pair of gloves provide gd feel. At the same time, when it comes into contact with the tarmac, it will provide friction to stop you from sliding all the way to europe.

So there you have it. Reason y everyone should get themselves equipped with a decent pair of gloves. No matter what bike you are riding, wave, sp, black bird, cbr....nobody is exempted from accidents that happen.

I always wear jeans anyway so i would most probably feel uncomfortable wearing bermudas or shorts while riding.....but the main problem in safety gear is that u usually have to sacrifice some degree of comfort and its inversely proportional......one big example is an armoured jacket, i have 1 and i know i should wear it everytime i ride but sometimes it just gets too damn hot  Even tho mine is one of those mesh materials its only effective when ur moving at speed

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Wah...so relak...can wear berms to work...

another suggestion is that since you dun like to wear jeans can get those detachable pants? Those that you can unzip n it becomes a pair of berms....tat way you can have best of both worlds.

Yup, sacrifices have to be made ... can't have your cake n eat it too.....until the day they invent personal force fields, we'll have to live with wearing safety gear.

This is a little off topic but i just dont get this very common phrase(most often heard from the gahmen :cheeky: ).......i got a cake....why the hell cant i eat it? Thats why i got the cake in the first place o_O

Bro, that it means is that you can't still have the cake after you eat it.

I.e. you have the cake, you eat it then its gone. so you don't have the cake anymore. therefore the phrase can't have your cake n eat it too.

Indeed. I agree with the statement on the plates. You don't need titanium plates to save your fingers (carbon will do) but unfortunately 90% of glove makers forget about the palm... and lets face it, instinct makes us go down palm first...

However in the case of the glove I mentioned it also has about 60 ceramic studs in the palm of the glove that prevents damage to the hands when you go down sliding plam first. And before anyone comments, they are rounded so I can run it over my paintwork without a scratch.

As far as I know, no other glove has that kind of protection. I personally don't like protective gear that sells by name only... and there are some companies who sell very expensive stuff out there based on 'secret technology', but the Timax is one where you can totally see that the glove is 100% designed for protection, and there is no bullshit 'secret technology' involved: its all steel, titanium, and very very thick leather (2 layers of double leather, with titanium plates at all knucles and finger joints) at all the right places, tied together by very good stitching. And amazingly comfortable too, while providing enough 'feel' for riding. And all for a reasonable price because its not made by a big brand name.

I'm not a salesman for Icon. All I'm saying is, if I have to crash, I want to be wearing one of these. Which is why I own them. Don't take my word for it.

P.S. I have no fingerprints on one finger, so I take gloves very seriously.

Always got my gloves on when riding... except when going jb to top up. Cos i still cant feel properly with gloves on when i need to take off my ff n passport n wearing of ff. I riding SP, always got remarks frm frens tat "wah, ride SP wear FF n full gloves sia" But i don give a damn n jus gave them a smile in return.

Sometimes when passing or stop beside some big bulls... i'll feel abit paiseh though... cos they aint wearing FF n gloves. ( not all big bull riders ) But on the second thoughts... i guess they should be those tat gonna be paiseh... hahaaa

Doesn't matter what you ride... any bike can go fast enough to make your bone come through your skin if you crash. I think you have the right attitude.

Almost every rider I know who crashed without gloves remarked that there was some damage to the hands... some minor (chipped fingernail etc), some major... somehow the hands always kena... even on case the hand landed on the exhaust pipe....

Gloves are the bare minimum requirement that a rider should wear...obviously not everyone can afford those very expensive gloves...but at least get a budget glove around $50...if really really cant afford...wear durian glove also better than wearing nothing at all right...
