but i suggest you changing to stainless steel plus do the weldings.. add a bar over the top or more anchor.. the steel 219 using are mild steel, they will rust..

a bit too high is okay, must test it with your pillion or someone big is size to see if they are uncomfortable.. they should feel quite "safe" being engulf by the boxes..

Damm rite man.. my wife says she feels safe with the boxes around her.. However, we got abit of problem gettin on the bike.. if im already seated, my pillion is blocked by the boxes and she will have a hard time getting on.. futhermore, the pillion foot pegs are abit blocked by the boxes.. my solution, get the pillion to seat in front first, then shift to the rear & then i get on & off we go.. like ballet sia... :slapforehead:

i just noticed that your panniers are nearer to the front than mine.. the colour of the plastics matched our bike unlike mine, i go spray white..

i didnt encounter this problem.. but of cuz my rear shocks are the ones that suffer.. your settings are more balance..

you can try practising with you on the bike first and see is there any other ways to mount the bike.. i also tried with my wife a few times before she get the hang of it..

with no top box blocking, i think you can try asking your wife to step on the left peg with left leg and throw her right leg over from the back.. or vise versa..

I hope it helps!!

lastly, enjoy your boxes.. i bet you can stuff a week's worth of groceries in those boxes and going shopping without carrying 2 helmets..!!

First i would just like to explain the difference between a H&B box from a GIVI one..

H&B:

Fully cast moulded, in "two" layers with air gap in between..

Material is thick..

Lock is metal casted, comes mostly two locks per box..

seperate lock for mounting..

comes with rubber linings to prevent water from seeping in..

box will disengage from rack in even of moderate knocks or accidents..

*Material of box does not crack upon impact..

GIVI:

casted in plastic, but only in one layer..

material is not as thick as H&B's..

Lock is made of plastic, one per lock per box..

all in one lock, mounting/locking..

only some models comes with rubber lining..

not sure if box will come out..

box crack and giveway in event of impact..

as above, you will know it when you saw/feel/touch a H&B box in person.. the money is worthwhile..

------------------------------------------------------------------------

now to the racks:-

H&B:

tubular rack system..

side panniers direct mount to rack, no base plate needed..

top box mount via a seperate rack onto the system..

rubber stoppers maybe needed to further lock the top box when used for a long time..

GIVI:

tubular rack system available too.. GIVI wingrack..

but some models using custom mount, which IMO not very stable..

top box mount via a seperate rack onto the system..

H&B setup, less vibrations, top box will be a bit unstable on bumpy gounds with minimal movements.. side panniers are securely mounted onto the rack, no noticable vibrations..

GIVI setup even with wingrack, all boxes will vibrate and shaky.. rack maybe secured but boxes are wildy shaking when on the move.. I had witness quite a few boxes "dancing" wildly OTR..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

IMO, you are paying premium for something that's really worth the money.. let's do the breakdown:

H&B:

3 boxes(top and panniers) = $1000

rack = $450

total estimated = $1500

GIVI:

Top box(best in line) = $350

side boxes(biggest) = $300

Wingrack = $350

total estimated = $1000

Price difference = $500

for this $500, you are getting something that's worth it..

should i share my story?

I wouldnt be riding still if without H&B boxes.. I had a low slide at about 100kph.. landed on my left, box absorbed the impact, but disengaged after dragging for a distance.. during this time, i manage to get my left leg out in between the bike and tarmac.. which after the box disengages and flew off.. i went on further with my leg stuck in between having the rack and my crash bar as "sliders".. finally "unstuck" myself and suffered abrasions on my left knee and thigh..

just imagine without the box, or with a box that will giveway upon impact.. my left leg would have been amputated during the drag..

anyways, the box that absorbed the impact for me, can still be used.. but of cuz not that nice anymore..

________________________________________________________________

just sharing my views on the boxes.. i've tried GIVI, but after you got yourself a H&B.. I believe you will stick to it even you changed bikes..

Sorry for the long-winded story.. hope i had explained all enquiries..

Hey there....talking about the difference between 2 well known luggages, they're ok. It's all depends on what kind of terrains u're facing and the maker of your bike. If u're the tourer type and u ride those big, lean, enduro machine, get H&B. Else if you jus a street rider, Givi will do. Don't waste money. No point owning an ex luggages but never put yourself, your bike and the luggages to the test. Agree? Jus remember u're SWL(safe weight loading) and it'll be fine. I own H&B product myself, personally it's the best. Tried Givi too, i wouldn't say it's not good. It's fairly good too... Jus ride safe, dun fall....regards.

Hi, I am upgrading to a Revo soon... Currently I am riding a Vara125 with H&B side panneirs with racks.. Can I bring my current rack to customised to fit to REVO at Seng Kwang? I wonder can it be done? Because as a H&B and Givi user ... You can really see the difference in the mouting of the racks ... H&B racks are a definite stable.. Givi always give me the shakes....

Regards,

Ben
