you need to turn your head like looking over your right shoulder feeling (eye line) and light tap of rear brake helps. It will tighten the rear wheel abit just like pivoting where the front leads the way. Important not to close the throttle...

If you remember when taking your bike test, the crank course (double L) the first turning-in also feels like a U-Turn.

Just my personal experience and hope it helps

think is the posture that needs to be adjusted, grip the tank, rear brake should be available when necessary, not awkward

Yes. I agree that U-turns differentiates a good rider from a noobie-wannabe.

Anyone can open throttle and speed like theres no tommorrow. But how many can actually slow down and drop gear from high speed to execute a beautiful U-turn?

Its a matter how how well you understand that capabilities of your bike.

For some weird reason, I agree with you. I always feel more comfortable turning left than turning right. Even though I skidded once while turning left (got hospitalised, then 7 weeks MC), I'm still more comfortable and confident turning left than right.

Actually that Japanese TP video shows some interesting techniques. You can see the riders turning their tourer bikes like dirt bikes, doing very tight turns with one leg out. Perhaps dirt bike or motard riders can shed some light on such turning techniques.

Most u-turn falls happen at about 30% into the turn because the riders are afraid they won't make it without going up the left curb. Let me assure you that your bike can do it. You are not going to "slide out". Especially if your tyres are in okay condition and you are on asphalt road (not carpark). I have seen big Goldwing tourers make u-turns from lane 1 to lane 3. Carpark when wet is a little tricky, but I still think the tyres have more grip than your own shoes to the floor. I rather lean the bike than paddle.

Personally I don't make "high speed" u-turns. I always turn in first gear, half clutch, and applying throttle gently. The key is once you are in the turn, look far to the exit of the turn and increase throttle gently.

Not really true.. Cos u feel too nice cornering left, you overconfident, more likely to drop on left. Lol..

when i was learning at bbdc the instructor asked me to lean my body outside while doing the u turn and when i tried it i got a really small turning radius..i dunno if sportsbike can do same though..but of course this has to be done without a pillion on board...then again i feel that putting ur inner leg down while doing the u turn is the best..lol...dropping ur own bike and dropping the school bike is a huge difference..

Riding a scooter... Never had problems with U-turns, passed recently. Made a number of U-turns already because the route out of my office back home requires me to make the U-turn. Eye-point is important, there is a couple of times I wobbled because I was looking down on the road.
