teambhp, i feel you should not troll on those sales threads. it is rather immature, and the forums do not need a masked vigilate with flawed arguments. peace out, we are all bikers.

As long the bike has no sign of old leak, fork leak, fuel leak and engine knocking sound it should be fine.

Buying a second hand bike is like buying 4D. It is all about luck.

Even the seller also cannot assure u all the parts can last you for 6 months.

A good seller will show proof what is being done to the bike. (ie: receipts of servicing and repair records)

Agreed, out of my 2nd hand 19 bikes, only 2 were lemon. Sometimes experiences counts as well. Look for signs like wore tyres, brakes, leaking sus.

Due to insurance issue, test ride is not allowed. A car park ride, may test the integrity of brakes, wore rotors, suspension, wore bearings and etc. If the owner agreed to a test ride is a bonus.

19! wow. Were there any first hands that you bought?

Base on your experience is there usually a need to "overhaul" the bike after a year of 2nd hand use or so?

I am quite poor so no first hand for me...hahhaha. Coz I always pay in cold hard cash, really too poor to let shop earn interests.

Overhaul? Why overhaul when there is no problem, I really cannot understand unless you have the money to burn.

Just like class 2 bikes, I wonder they really "overhaul" the bike when the mileage is less than 80000km? I mean some first gear can hit 170kph, they can punish the bike till the engine kaput???

No wonder speed cameras all over the island?

Then my luck has been good? There are tell tail signs to know the owner take care a not? Stay away from those ill maintained and owner takes no pride in cleaning their bike.

cannot like tat say one bro...i work in tuas gets dirty easily... my bike outlook abit dirty most of the times but maintenance wise i don save...when its time to change will change. a dirty bike may not equates to a unsafe bike.

cheers

best bike to take over is low mileage, highly polished bike with accessories. Can tell whether its a owner polished or commercially polished bike.

when the owner treats the bike like his mistress, u can be very well sure its very well maintained.

Liverpool revival has started....

A dirty bike may not be appealing for many, I am not saying is an unsafe bike. Maybe ill maintained that all, a simple cover will do the job.

My bro used to work in tuas too, bike in top condition.

Pu tit this way, if the owner have time to maintain the look, the inside should be ok. Likewise if the outlook very lok, the inside most of the time cannot be better.

Car wise is diff coz its has exterior and interior, I know some owners dont care what is outside.

i don't really maintain the looks, because it's already bad when i got it, i only do basic stuff like wash the bike, clean chain etc., but i really take care of the insides, and i cover the bike.

Don't buy bike from anyone la. Buy from agent only. Bike shop, private owners maybe a friend also selling 5h1tty lemon bike... so untrusting, how to get a used bike or car? Not asking for 100% trust, caution is needed for you to ask intelligent question and check bike thoughtly,

Check online forums( not this one sadly, here many just judge based on hear say). Angmo forums are more objective and many are DIY guys. They know their bikes. Take note of weak links on the bike. In short do your homework. Don't go see bike with zero knowledge about bike.

Visually inspect bike for crash mark, ask them what happen. Check undercarriage for wet oil stain potential leak.. dusty black soot is ok. Start bike let it warm up for while you talk to owner... listen for funny sound, tack, tick, squeal, grinding. Don't just Rev up rpm, manitain a 1.5k 2k 2.5k rpm at different stages and listen if the sound is uniform. Ask owner bring you out for a ride. listen again to the engine, suspension, brake effectiveness etc... bring a caliper to measure the brake rotor thickness if you absolutely think it is essential. After riding, park 1 side and check for leaks. Hot oil flow easily. I know SOMEONE will say bikeproblem will still surface after few month of riding. Then buy a new bike from agent peace of mind.

Please add inspections tips should I miss out any... help each other in a constructive way. Sowing discord among bikers by saying this bike lousy, that bike better, this very expensive, that too cheap to be good, this bike pronkem, seller is a con man, is not constructive but destructive.

I bought 2 or 3 of my bikes here, I sold my Dr650, Sv650, 650GS here. No issue, people here are mostly honest. Look at their account, did they just setup clock post and start selling bikes? Do they have bad reviews on prevous sales. Don't judge a person before you know them.

Hopefully someone or I will start a new thread for pre purchase check list. Rather then trolling and 5h1tting on everybody thread.
