I was lucky to get my deposit of $200 back in exchange for goods like my majesty brake disc, 2x air filter + oil filter and 1 bottle of EO.

 

that was not without much hesitation for a week of calling but luckily when i put down my deposit i make them write on the receipt that can be changed for accessories/ service.. if not also they will deny and say that is only talk..

hi all brothers out there..

 

Have a great story to tell.

 

I bought a bike throught this forum at a bike shop. Intially i thought that the person Jimmy is just a person selling his used bike like most of the ppl here.. After lots of sms on the phone, i agreed to go down to bedok industrial park to look at the Super4 that he is selling..

 

Jimmy introduced me to S4 spec 1, he told me previous owner took care of the bike and tell me this is a good bike and said that if i need any accesoriess, i can take from any other bike in the workshop that he is selling.. To me, he look very honest, very sincerce and i trust him with all the repairs and things that he promised me. (will show what he had promise later). He told me that coming monday, after spraying my bike and some touch up on the bike, i can take my bike.. to my disappointment, i went down and saw my bike is not ready for collection, and he told me that the spray had not dry due to the rain and ask me to collect the next day instead..I went down the next day, at 7pm and he told me to go eat first as the technician had not finish the repairs. i waited for 2 hrs and got my bikeat 9pm.. before i was about to go off, Jimmy told me that there is a small crack at the fork (Cone) and he told me that is ok one.. And he said i tell u now first, if not later u say that i lie to u.. WTF.. already make payment and then tell me that here spoil there spoil..

 

I did not really check the bike as i and my gf was waiting for 2 hrs that day and i procced back home thinking that everything is ok.. 1 or 2 month later, i went to my personal workshop to let my trusted technician check on the bike, he told me that there are lots of problem on the bike.. The following are the things that he promised but lied to me..

 

1) New tyres.

2) New Chain and spocket which i pay additional 100+

3) Renew of my road tax to a year instead of half a year. - which i pay frist and he will renew for me.

4) New Brakes - my tech says the brake rubber already finish long ago already. - Refering to front brake which i seldom use.

5) Repair of my front cone..

6) brake disc had already been twisted and when u used front brake, there will be alot of jerking vibration. - most probably due to accident together with the cone.

7) Change of coolant, oil filter, air filter spark plug - all the servicing that is needed to be done.. This is FOC as what he said. therefoe i dun mind that he nv do..

 

SO dear brothers and sister, i took the effort to type all this hoping that there wont be any carrot / robert like me.. Kana tok till all the money gone.. SIGH!! last but not least please be careful about this person and this bike shop

Forever Darkness haha. Thanks for sharing lawbah, I actually experienced something similar, albeit on a smaller scale. My phantom looked very nice when I first got it, but it turned out that both front and back brake pads were totally worn out, the rubber compound of the tires was hardened, the chain was rusty and EO and air filter wasn't changed in god knows how long. Of course, I didn't realise about many of these things until I had my first accident (self skid). Lesson learnt was to always factor in the cost of basic repairs into the final cost of the bike, because even reputable sellers cannot be fully trusted...

Kee ! Kee ! My bike today the head light siao siao liao, come back from Desaru no light, but reach home carpark got light. turn handle again no light. I think the wire loosen liao.

Hmm.... need some recommendations from you guys.

 

Here's the situation. I'm using a Samsung SGH-E760 phone that is starting to give up on me (the buttons are starting not to respond anymore). I've been using this phone for >3years

 

My phone needs are simple, good definition screen & good-sized buttons with a good tactile feedback. Basically, I only use for calls & sms, so all the fancy functions do not appeal to me. I'm inclined towards clamshell phones due to the smaller form factor, but don't mind candybar phones as well (not many clamshells in the market now, I believe). I'm a real tightwad with handphones & are not willing to spend >$200 on one. I am currently not on contract (Starhub).

 

Any suggestions on what I can buy?

Sony Ericssons or Nokia(much prone to software problems, I'm one of their new users). My Nokia 6500 slide has some auto restart problems though its few months old only. Updated the software last week and haven't faced any problems, for now. My old Sony Ericsson w550i was quite bullet proof, once in a while has some glitch in the software.

Hmm since your contract has already expired you should just look for a phone which you like the look of and with a user interface you can use with ease and that should be about it, you can probably get one for less than 100 even. Any phone nowadays will be able to handle calls and sms, so I thnk your priority hould be reliability, ease of use and looks.

 

Sorry, no models to recommend though, the only time I know about phone models is when I'm in the market for one...

 

P.S jb, you using the 6500 slide also? I have quite a few complaints about it as well...

I believe he'll just need a simple one where he doesn't need to stress himself or his eyes to read the text and use the handphone I personally like Sony Ericsson and Nokia because they have quite idiot proof usage. Nokia does tend to be on the software prob side though

 

Yup I'm using the 6500 slide, looks cool to me thats why I bought it. My old w550i broke into half because its 3 years old I have no complaints after I did the Nokia Update. Anyway Kiamh can consider Phillips Handphones. Quite good models which you need to charge once in every few weeks
