Ikea, the place famous for great products, prices and a company that understand peoples need, may have overlook the needs of customer that rode motorbikes.

We bikers were greatful that IKEA build parking lots for us.

But motorbikes parking lots situated outside the Tampines building underneath the scortching sun and cold rain, without any shelter;were a "punishment" even though we came and spend.

last week,As it was scortching hot outside,i decided to park the bike inside the building at the corner of the building, without taking up any of the car lot and in no way obstructing the traffic. But after making purchase at the ikea ,i was given a warning letter, that bike are not allow inside the building, and if i were to park again on my next visit, the establishment would clamp my bike.It really puzzle me as staff's of ikea that rode bikes were given lots in the building but not customer .

Why are we customer;bikers being treated as a 2nd class citizen? Didn't we came and spend money at the company? Or is it that Ikea have a perception that only poor man rode bikes and bikers couldn't afford Ikea products? I have tried to send a email to Ikea, but there were no email address to highlight this issue.

really hope IKEA Tampines could look into the needs of bikers, we love to patronise the place but were deter ........................as a 2nd class citizen at your IKEA establishment.

ST Forum replied that they do not have space for this issue, guess this is one of the place that i could share with the rest of the bikers...

Dear Bikers,

Received a call from IKEA feedback centre today:cheeky: , as usual the answer is :( "...thanks for your feed back, but alexander IKEA got lots for bikes:slapforehead:...... , we treasure your feed back for Tampines IKEA, we will be looking to discuss this issue with building management at IKEA Tampines, will let you know once there is a answer..." I request for a written reply email from IKEA, but they refuse to send me a copy of their explaination, i guess thats how far my letter went.....to the trash:cry:

Guess thats confirm that bikers are just bunch of poor people that don't deserved much attention from the establishment....:(

I went there couple of times, to GIANT, COURTS & IKEA. Would prefer to park at COURTS and walk over to the 2 other malls.Because it has the best shelter amongst the 3 for bikes followed by GIANT ;) hmm returner, don't give up! what you did is something that might help other bikers!! :thumb: for ya!

Thanks jB, 1 of the reason, like what you have mention before, is Giant and Court provide shelter lots for bikers, not IKEA. Thats make me feel uncomfortable, Have to agree with you that the best among 3 establishment is courts, great shelter for bikers! But anyway, we only can give FEEDBACK to ikea, how they want to play the ball in their courts, we have no say.....:(

hmm... maybe can try writing in to Ikea's customers relations or the forums on Straits Times. Usually they are more tactful/efficient in replying your letter as it is seen by more people in the public as compared to tel calls or online feedback.

Have already send to the straits times, but the reply is they have too many letters to publish, no space for issue for my concern.......maybe should get someone with higher profile and more powderful english to handle this issue.:sian: hmm. is there anyone :thumb: out there in SBF to assist in highlighting to the straits times?

IKEA has create 18 motorbikes lots within the building, kindly park inside the building when you are there, more lots will only be built if only there is a DEMAND.

Thanks IKEA for hearing our suggestion and comment.....now let see which establishment need bikes lot......just kidding....

:giddy: ask taka for motorbikes lot? But i thought there is already lots for bike, and biker pay just like car.... too expensive for me liao, i just join the rest of the bikes along the back passage walk to park......at least i won't be the only one kenna sumon:angel:

Anyway, back to the topic, how could we create awareness for establishment that we;bikers do contribute to the ecomony of Singapore?

for a start, maybe bike clubs in Singapore should get together and jointly present something (commendation or whatever is appropriate) to those building Management that caters bike lots and make it a big BANG.

Hopefully after that other management want to follow... just an idea.

I know taka charges the same rate for bikes and cars, but if thats the case, why even bother allocating bikes lots? If i were to park there i would take up the car lots. I pay the same amount, why take up less space than what we paid for?

Thumbs up for Ikea for listening to customers. Recently most buildings and shopping centres are shunning motorcyclist out. Because they did not provide motorcycle parking lot for us. I knew a few such as :

1. Changi Point Mall

2. City Square Mall

With no parking lots, sorry I dun go at all . Sorry Changi Point Mall and City Square Mall, both of you will lose out , as customers like us, tend to shop quite frequently. You must have realized that why your shopping centre not as crowded as other shopping centres. At least they provide motorcycle parking lots, although they charge per entry, at least it's an added value services. If you do not listen to customers like IKEA, you will forever lose face, lose money , lose patrons , and finally lose everything.

My frequent and beloved shopping malls with free motorcycle lots :

1. Parkway Shopping Centre

2. Raffles City Shopping Centre

3. Suntec City Shopping Centre

4. Giant @ Tampines

5. IKEA @ Tampines

Whoosh, these shopping centre are crowded , very crowded. Thumbs up.
