I noticed that you guys were recommending either HKL or MV to do the installation. I am kinda picky on the mech that works on my bike.

If I ask my own mech to get for me and install on my bike, do you think he will be knowledgable to install the scotoiler properly or would it be better recommended that I go back to MV or HKL to have it installed?

its pretty much simple to DIY...only thing u need to find the vaccuum tube from ur bike to tap into....its juz a matter of where to place ur RMV and routing the hose to ur chain

u were talking abt the vacuum tube.. can a 2b bike or a cup be fitted with the scott oiler sys and still run ok?? was kinda worried that the vacuum pressure mite not be enuff...

a good friend once said to me, "You will only be truly happy if you give your best in everything you do..."

I got mine for $165 2 years ago, older model of ScottOiler maybe, but working 100% nonetheless. I haven't had to tighten or change my chain and sprocket since I installed it, and I'm on a single-sided swingarm too. Only trouble is with the oil sometimes dirtying my wheels, but a little soap and scrub solves that problem.

larree: It can be fitted on almost every chain-driven bike. Sportsbikes and tourers alike. Feedback from every ScottOiler user will be positive lor. It really is a good product.

Just bear in mind that you can also DIY your own oiler with some aquarium accessories and tubings. There's a thread on that somewhere in this forum. THere's also someone offering to DIY for you, at a minimal cost of below $30. Search for him in this forum too.

I DIY'd for my Phantom TA200...total cost less than $10. Parts from fish shop, squeeze bottle same as those use for tomato ketchup at some western hawker stalls, and left over (new) car engine oil. I squirt for morning run to office, half-hour lube time. So far, no splatter on tyre/rim. Only chain cover above chain have some oil, and some oil drip on floor where I park. Chain looks clean after 1,000km run. Google "loobman" or "rabbit" "oiler" if you want to do your own research. My setup very simple with oil drip onto top of chain above spocket. I figured that that's where the chain tension will be consistent and I won't have to deal with the chain slapping into the outlet nozzle as compared to placing the nozzle to oil the bottom part of the chain.

Not as "auto" as scottoiler because I've got to remember to sqirt every morning, but it works better than chain lube!

You may need to adjust the angle of the nozzle according to the size of the sprocket. Not possible to fix without cable tie but if you are worried about the chrome look of the swingarm you can try to source some transparent (??)/clear colored cable ties so it won't "uglify" the looks.

As long as it gets the job done, doesn't matter. You've done a great job and saved a few $$$. :thumb:

I saw a guy in a post say never tighten or change the chain for 1 year after using scottoiler...........

Btw, I'm using it too, nice one.

You don't know the limit of your bike until you crash it, otherwise you are just not trying hard enough:angry:

the sides of my chain gets rusty and i think its difficult to curb this problem. as the scottoiler is oiling the spocket and inner chain only.

eh, any1 also experience this?

You need to adjust the noozle maybe by using a cable tie

Even though i got a scot oiler, my chain needed tightening just after 6 mths

Now my nozzle seems to far away from the spocket ... any one any ideas?

Is the oil drop consistent? If it is not maybe you can set the knob to a higher level just for consistency after which you set it back to the lower level. Mine is always set at 1 for normal rides and 2-3 for touring.

No issue. It's similar to as though you've sprayed wax/lube to the chain. Cleaning requirement of the chain is minimal.
