not really the tire all depends what u use , and the chain if u maintain it , its gd , same for the gear , depends on the oil .

i got alot of advise for the fazer lover site, the F1 & F6 diff only for the bike price of abt 3.8k, pretol and ins/tax $300 other than that not much diff.

F6 is very easy to handler F1 too much power whenu go into a tiks conner

F1 have the power of pulling away but F6 is not that bad too

Its subjective and would vary between bikers (eg. age, earning capacity, biking enthusiasm level, etc)

The FZ1 is definately more expensive than a FZ6. But spread over a period of 12 months, I reckon its about 20% more than the FZ6. (Comparing identical conditioned bikes).

However what u pay is what you get... When that 400cc extra kicks in, you gonna be grinning from ear to ear.

Don't worry about 'managing' the power, you are in control. Can't blame anyone if you can't keep to the speed limits because you got a powerful bike... Besides, I trust the driving centers have properly tested and deemed you can manage a Class 2 bike when they passed you... U gonna be fine riding the Thou...

3.5 years with my FZ1, no regrets... Still grinning:angel:

If you think the key enjoyment from a 1,000cc bike is to reach a higher top speed than a 600 cc bike, then you are missing the point and it probably comes from someone who has never owned a 1,000 cc bike.

One of the key benefits of a 1,000 cc over a smaller cc equivalent engine, is the higher torque at the same rpm. This translates to you can accelerate at any given instance. When there is not enough torque, you need to spend several moments to engage clutch, down-shift. For FZ6, you need to drop more than one gear usually for sufficient ability to overtake. There is no ability to just turn the throttle and overtake.

So for street use, most of the time for most people, it is more enjoyable to go for the 1,000cc over the 600 cc version.

Worry about "too much power" for the FZ1? BTW, the FZ1 already has a engine that is very close to that of a sport bike. Meaning, it has rather low torque at low rpms, so it is very easy to ride, compared to other more torquey bikes like a Hornet900. Harleys are supposed to be easy to ride. And they produce very high torques at low rpms. So why worry about FZ1?

If the FZ6 has a power band that feels like Super4 Vtec for most of the time, what is the point of buying it then? If budget is a constraint, why not stick with the very good Vtec3?

yup i agree! fz6 no torque. fz1 or any litre bike the torque is enormous, easy to overtake without dropping gear. fz6 the power is very high up, using r6 engine (for my model 2004).

both got pros and cons lah. since not much difference in price, its really up to you! i believe this forum already got people tell you the pros and cons so make a decision and enjoy the bike!

Get the FZ1 if ur budget allows. No point getting a 6 whereby your heart keep thinking of 1.If ur those ppl who love to rev then a 6 is for you.The 1 have more torque and does not need to rev as much as a 6 to gain power.Make up your mind dude.

No harm trying different bikes.

200, 400, 600, 800, 1000... they all got their pros and cons.

Just decide and go for it.

Buying a bike is not as bad as getting a wife.

That one is almost point of no return.

Bike don't like, just change lah...hahaha

My 2 cents only.

If u don't rev ur bike beyond 4k rpm, even a phantom can accelerate faster than u. :cheeky: The torque is quite high up at around 7k rpm....which u will not be using in sg roads frequently.

crusing at around 100km/hr is at around 6k rpm at 6th gear.

hmmmm...

FZ1, turn 25% throttle to gain X speed

FZ6, turn ~50% throttle to gain X speed.

lets say i'm always travelling in SGP, point A to point B. that means i only have to turn 25% throttle everytime if i'm riding FZ1. so under-utlising!

~ You may be faster than the wind, but never time ~

Hmm.. so the fazer 6 is actually a "power when u need it" kind of bike?

I faced the same problem as you, before I ordered my FZ6 months ago and still enjoying & not regretting my decision.

I've ridden several 1 litre bikes and the power, adrenaline rush they gave me never failed to leave a smile/grin on my face.

Still the 600cc FZ6 is fun to ride and play around with. Enter a corner at revs above 6k rpm, its gonna scare the **** outta you too.

Most importantly, we shouldnt compare a FZ1 and FZ6 in the first place. Both are of different category and each has it own style. But if we really want to compare (which i did be4 i bought mine), its more fair to find out why we need a bike or what we really seek for when purchasing a bike.

If you wanna get a budget litre bike, FZ1 gonna be your choice. Same goes for budget 600cc bike, FZ6 gonna be it. But if you looking for POWER, Fazers shouldnt even be considered.

Perhaps we can ask ourselves, what we really need, power, budget, looks, handling and etc. Then we are more able to find out what are the bike that suits us most.

I might be Left Handed, But I'm Always RIGHT

hi what's the fuel consumption like for both 1 & 6? I'm considering FZ6 naked, more 'feelin' and more shiok. Check with bike shops on '08 model, only colour changed and will be here around 3rd quarters next year.

Rode a 1000 for 2 years, then switched to the FZS600 for a year.

It's probably me, but after being used to what a 1000 can give me, the FZ6 felt anaemic. No guts, no punch, not enough acceleration. I always had to downshift for a spirited getaway.

But the upside is that it was very manageable in traffic. Good for short/medium distance trips. But long trips with higher speeds still put a strain on it.

Will be going back to a 1000. Even 2yrs+ back, after being used to a 1000's power, I eventually also started to feel that the 1000 also "not enough power" :p :P Always hungering for more punch.... human nature.
