Since I've sold my ZX9R , I've been looking for a much slower relaxed bike to bum around town when required.

Anyone here rides a Thunderbird?

I dig the classic styling of the Thunderbird especially the peashooter exhausts

I know that the agents of Triumph Motorcycles in Singapore used to be Tiger Motors but as I've not been following the scene for a while I wonder are they still the agents for Triumph here?

Any other comments regarding this bike?

Thanks

Mah Motor is now the Agent for Triumph.

For second hand Triumph, you can probably check out Bike Connection. :goodluck:

NormalAspirated. You looks cool with your HayaBusa. How you look like with your Intruder 800?

I would say Truimph is one of those very rare gems to be found in Singapore. This is a old and established brand since long ago. :thumb:

Here's a picture of the Thunderbird for those who's not seen the triple cylinder machine before.

Very retro look and nice upright riding position.

It's a classic to me. One of a kind on the road. Will definately turn heads. Sat on it once. Found the handle bar rather light. Light the looks though.

Keep us posted with your experience.

Regretfully, FYI, Triumphs not selling here; heard only 3 were sold for the past few years ... i am also a sucker for the classic bikes like the Thunderbird and Bonnesville... real beauty even when stationary.

$5k for a Thunderbird is reasonable for a classic like this even with the inconvenience of parts.... actually 5k can't even buy you a decent Jap 400 bike these days...

Mah Pte Ltd located opposite Serangoon Civil Defence is the sole agent for Triumph motorbike. I have once enquiry in regards to Triumph parts and was quoted that parts delivery is within from 3-7working days.

I once check out a 1997 Triumph Tiger. asking for $7k (o.n.o.), so what year is the Thunderbird ?

the 400cc jap bikes are in demand in the resale market, that's why their asking prices tend to be rather stiff. So I don't think there is any price correlation between these two type of bikes.

yes the KawaW650 is a beauty but i really dont want to spend too much becos i ride only about 2000km a year. thanks for the tip.

In the past they had the estrella...very classic look too.

i wanted something with a little bit more punch ie.>60bhp

so the thunderbird , monster 900 fit the bill more.

I'm not into cafe racers, but i do like classics like GL1000, CB750 etc...

Are Ducati Monsters considered cafe racers. If only LTA aka ROV allows that kind of customization with the old bikes, then there will be lots of creativity out there. Thisnk some of our restrictions here is just so silly. A friend of mine used an after market foot peg with a couple of other conversions and he got fine by the folks on their rounds. Simply unbelieveable!!

no Monsters shud not be classified as cafe racers, they are naked bikes

Go scroll back on yahoo classified, I think there is one asking 5k. There is no market for this kind of bike. Hope you get lucky. The seller said there are only 02piece in singapore but I doubt it. There is one always parked outside at the shop front at Ubi (shop next that corner stickers cutting shop). I have seen one malay riding along geyland road sometimes ago.

IMO ... you have to change that original weird handlebar to straight style (easy replacable). That allow you to steer and handle the bike a lot better. Thunderbird later came out a sports version which they also has the straight bar as factory fit.

Hi there, Im riding a 98' Thunderbird with after-market exhaust from Triumph. Very torqy and much improved accerelation after the change. Not to mention the notes that sounds out from the exhaust pipes. It's a melody to the ears.. Maintainence is easy and relatively cheap. Parts can be ordered online. im ordering thru a fren who is stationed in US. There4 no prob looking for parts but jus have to wait for the shipment. No regrets! sIMPLY uNBELIVABLE, a rare and beautiful in-line 3. I think Mah's selling 2nd hand for 10-13k. But if u could grab it at 7-8k it's tremendous!

I know of a Legend is selling ard 7k but need alittle touching up. lemme noe..
