God forbid that anything should happen but unfortunately a lot of times **** does happen, and it would good to know if Pasir Gudang has some medical provisions, or a contingency plan should there be a crash on the track. I have wondered what would happen if I ever crashed on the track, and like many, the thought is very unsettling. For peace of mind, if nothing else, it would be good to know that, to some extent the track has some guidelines to ensure that prompt and proper medical care can be dispensed in the case of an emergency.

It would be silly to expect medical attention at the track itself, considering the track fees we pay, however it would be prudent to have some plan - for example, if a rider crashes, the track authorities would take the injured rider to the nearest medical facility, be it in Pasir Gudang or in Johor Bahru.

The reason Im asking is because we had two riders collide just before the corner that leads to the front straight on Saturday. Luckily enough it didnt appear serious (Not serious is subjective - one of them says he broke his collarbone while the other's right foot was giving him some grief), and after toing and froing, PG finally got a cab to give them a ride to the second link at about 1230 - 1245pm - easily one and half hour after they crashed. I find that time a bit ludicrous - in more serious situations time is critical and intrinsic to recovery.

We have information on the track fees, the timing, the permitted gear and so on, but unfortunately an information on medical provisions is woefully lacking. On track days and weekends there usually a bunch of riders about and help is near at hand, but on weekdays when there arent that many riders it would be good for the riders to know in the case of an emergency that they would be taken care of.

PS - In case you arent aware the cost to transport your damage bike from PG to your bikeshop anywhere in Singapore is S$160.00

After my highside at T8, i basically laid there for about 5 minutes before someone came along (D.O.C, who was the only other rider using the track that session). If he wasn't there i probably would have laid there alot longer.

I was immobile (sprained/twisted back muscles), couldn't even sit up or roll over, so Syed and the guys loaded me up into the vehicle (can't remember which one), took me to the medical centre behind to the pits where they put me on a stretcher and took me to hospital next to the shell station. After getting x-rays done my relative decided to have me sent back to TTSH using the ambulance service at the hospital in PG.

Cost of ambulance service direct from the hospital at PG to TTSH, SGD300.

Cost of getting the bike sent back to my workshop in sg, SGD150 (at the time, this was in 2005)

Great topic FB666Y, i was also one of the guys that run to the track when the 2 collided just before ah gong corner. From afar, they were not moving at all & i told myself this is not looking good at all. When reach them, they were moving a little..thank god! It was very unfortunate the medical center

was closed! We manage to wait for them at Shell Station to 'unload' them from the taxi. They were in pain when we took them out.

i have a fren who dislocated his shoulder during 1 of the track day. he was transported to the medical centre where he had his shoulder lodged back by the staff. till now, i have no idea whether is the staff a trained medical personnel. hehe i complimented Syed for their service and he even said it's their duty.

Was there too. Darn the run in full suit was shaq...

The guys on the track were quite fast too. they rode thier kups to the rescue all the time so i thing should be ok.

Think one think need to improve a bit is that they only have marshallers at the other side of the track which is good. but the turns near the BMW is almost left out unless there are other riders around to rotate shift to "KPO"(Enjoy the run maybe learn a bit).

I think they are toking about another incident... Your friend buang last sunday rite? I was behind your friend when he hit the monitor lizard. I'm not sure wat he hit cos i was still at the beginning of the straight and he was already on the downside when i saw him buang. Only know when he told me. I'm the guy on the red k7 600. Really horrified to see such a crash first time in my life man. Tot the bike will land on him. If landed on him...

Got a PM from one of the guys injured on that dy - I think I can share it:

(This is for the guys on that Saturday, Fruitcakepablohoney, Official and the others)

Thks

Hi thks very much for helping me n my fren last Sat. It would have been a longer n painful process w/o u guys around. Btw, I m the guy in leathers.

Just to update, I fractured my right thumb and ankle, bad sprain on left ankle and bruised left shoulder blade. My fren broke 5 left ribs and collarbone.

Both of us were admitted to East Shore and had surgery done one the same day.

I had 2 surgery for the injuries and my fren took one for the collarbone.

After the surgery, we were discharged on Mon morning. I m expected to be on 6 wks of MC as well. What the hack, time to have a gd rest off work

Me n my fren are very grateful that u guys were around then. Cant imagine how worst it could be with lesser help.

From this lesson, we also learnt how impt insurance ammo is. Our bills were no less than 12k each. Lucky the ins covered them.

Cheers and see u guys on track again!

Don't forget the back protector!!!

Hand or leg injuries are still recoverable... ...

:thumb: to FB666Y for starting this thread.

Its true, although those who frequent the tracks never like to think about it... be it due to superstition or pantangness... this thread does provide some very good info... thanks to the contributors.

This thread would increase in worth if more could share their experiences.

Ride safe.

HI raptor welcome back ,good to see you again , since we're at this subject , I once help an "ang-mooh" highsided at Turn 5 , that's abt 2 months ago, he layed there for a full half hour for an ambulance , I suppose Syd & his team was not sure if he could be remove since there do not have stretchers etc....with van for easy loading , but after waiting for 40mins , I witness the most interesting scene of all times, cos finally Syd decide to pick the guy up in a car , back , ( rem suspected fractured leg & spine injury ) i saw an ambulance behind the vehicle bringing the victim back to the pits !! what a sigh , an empty ambulamce chasing the car on PG circuit , finally when the ambulance & car met up at the podium area, you should have seen the ambulance workers !! ??? they wanted to pull the victims by the LEGS out of the car !!!! I questioned their intentions & advise them could be better if the victim is brought out by the upper torso of his body , on logic that he can control to put weight on his buttock & use his hands to hold top of car & pull himself out !!! wow !! was told later that the ambulance was from medical centre in Port of PG ?? what a way !!! Yep really got tohelp one another at the track, and talking abt the right insurance , I fracture a finger at a dirt ride & NO questions asked all paid , only company that pays for bike accidents ( not sure if it happens on track Motor sports ) but for sure on normal road riding call john 98518893

lowig30 - Not sure if the medical centre has "opening hours".

It should be running when there are events, but outsdie of that ...

I have actually been treated at the medical centre - it was in 1997 and I lost the front end at turn 5 on my RGV250T, and luckily for me there was a major motocross event in the grassy area within the circuit and the medical centre was open, and I got stitched up with 5 stitches between my fingers.

End of the day, we cant rely on the track medical staff over there... how bad it is.. when time happen, we still need most helps from the riders or frens at that momment.

If affordable, get a van( with driver) is the best, good for bike and riders.
