I wonder why people want to buy bigger cruisers? I ride a steed 400 1997 it goes up to 145km/h the highest speed allowed in my country in 120km/h, I think that smaller cruisers maneuver better, better to handle and cheaper to maintain, I cant understand why people would buy 1800cc cruiser!? and I doubt that it is for speed because cruisers are not designed for speed. One more thing, I want to get a bigger cruiser and really really I cant find a logical reason for that!! but still I feel that I want one. Can you share your experiences!?

then why do you wanna get a bigger cruiser in the first place if you dun have a good reason?

Do you need a good reason?

: /

I dun need a good reason, I just need a good ride.

You dun get the same kinda sound, same kinda vibration, same kinda riding comfort.

I think it is a misconception that the higher the engine capacity, the heavier the bike therefore maneuvering is lagging.

Take a look at Harley's sportster series, 883/1200cc. There are considered light in cruisers class and are very agile.

AND

Although Cruiser bikes dun go for top speed, but they have torque, and the initial pick up is fast which is thrilling for some who is not keen in high speed.

3rdly why you get this feel of getting a larger capacity cruiser may be because you know there is a WOW factor, or you are influenced by something or someone.

see the answer is between the lines in your own post :p

your steed goes UP TO 145km/h.. in your country, u can go up to 120km/h. fine.. If you're going touring, average speed might be 120km/h to 140km/h depending on road conditions. If your top speed is 145km/h and u constantly travel 5km/h below the top speed, isn't that stressing out the engine?

bigger CC means many things.. one of them is to lower the RPM at higher speeds to lessen the load on the engine.

It's your damn bike, wash it yourself! You rinse your own mouth after you eat, don't you?

think you are trying to answer your own question with a practical answer. think the answer is the same as those who climb everest, those who finish the ironman, those who travel from one end of the country to another end just to eat a plate of char kuey tiao.

Its all abt PASSION.....

I say if u can afford it, do it. dun measure everything in practical ways.

some times you dont need logical reason or math to decide whether to get what you want, if you can affort it, just go for it.

Same reason why you buy a V8 Ferrari.... instead of a QQ.

Highest legal speed limit here is 90km/hr.

QQ also can go up to 90km/hr, so why buy a Ferrari.

Motorcyclist are the nicest people on the road, try not to kill us.

from a marketer's perspective...

salesman: what customers want may not be what they need

manager: who cares, as long as they buy n pay

salesman: what customers need may not be what they want

manager: needs don't up sales but wants does, sell them what they want and make them happy

manager: if they didn't want, its your job to get them to want

Have u ever wonder Why Harley don't produce a bike smaller than the sportster 883?

Because :it will never get the right sound & grunt.

Another qn... then why ppl buy R1 & Hayabusa n such? How fast can run in spore? Why?

Basically, it is a male biker's instinct to want one. Oh some female bikers too (no offence)

Just ignore the TS personal point of view lah. He cant afford I guess, that's why. His claimed of HIS 1997 Honda Steed top speed is 145km/h also is very doubious. A true passionate Cruiser rider should know very well what's steed400 top speed, especially its 1997. :cheeky:

so what is the top speed of 1997 steed 400cc you genius!?

The only reason I am here is to learn and get more experience and every forum that I get into of any topic there is always the suspicious person who has to say a different thing just because it is different...say Hi to your ego.

But thanks anyways for that professional analysis to my personality, I have to admit it; first time to know that about myself..you are good man..keep moving

1 - Thanks; if you say so, than, I am.

2 - 130km/h max on flat land. Have ever tested it when I swap bike with a friend during my ride to Phuket in 1999. Well I guess maybe it can even hits 200km/h if it goes down towards the ravine.

3 - When you wanna start this thread topic, you should be more sensitive in using words. It give the impression that big crusier rider have no logical brain. Reply from others before me tells.

Rolls Royce say their engines are 'adequate'. Theres nothing adequate about a 6.75litre V12, but this is my point.

Having alot of power, especially low down, makes for a relaxed ride. Say you're on the expressway in 6th gear, 80km/h. Roll on to overtake a car, twist the trottle, and what do you get?

On a 125cc cruiser, more noise.

On a 1400cc ZZR1400, alittle more speed.

On a 1800cc Cruiser, more noise, more vibrations, rapidly increasing speed.

Different engines are designed for different purposes. You don't want to drive a Rolls Royce, having to downshift 3 gears, revving the engine hard to overtake. You'd want effortless power on tap.

dun anyhow say hor.

if everything is about adequacy, then why settle for the nasai bryani when there's the plain rice with ayam lemak?

not everything in life can be explained scientifically.

thus, upgrade if you feel like, not a need.

Riders, riders, riders. Doesn't if that person ride small cc he cannot afford big one.

Doesn't mean he ride big cc he is loaded.

Each rider have their own reason to choose their own ride. Big or small cc.

For example, my Ops Manager, riding a Vespa. Wat u say. He cheapskate?

Well u are wrong.

He damn love his Vespa more than his Wife!!
