To note, there is probably a sticker in Japanese on the chain guard on the left side of your Rear wheel.

It is relatively easy to interpret the words and numbers. Great as a reminder in case you've forgotten when its time to pump.

Generally, some peeps here would pump 250Kpa/290Kpa regardless of having a pillion or not.

First of all, congrats on your acquisition of your new baby!

now.... on to your qns:

I have Scottoiler installed. If the ZMC alarm ur refering to is also known as the SPY 2 way alarm, i also have that installed too.

Scottoiler is probably the best investment u will ever buy. I'm sure many others here will agree. Keeps ur chain clean and lubricated and extends the longevity of your chain/sprocket many times over.

I got my bike 2nd hand and the Scottoiler was already installed by the previous owner.

Bike is 2 years old and guess wat?

Its still using the STOCK chain and sprocket since the day it rolled out of shop. Already clocked 50,000km in it and still looks good.

The Spy 2 way alarm is ok ok to me.

Its advertised 5000m working range is rubbish. I think effective range is only bout 400m max.

Alarm will still sound off if u are out of range, just that the remote that u carry around with you wont be 'paged'.

Ultimately, bear in mind that the alarm wont PREVENT theft. Its just a deterrence.

For all intents and purposes, the alarm does it job for me. If u have a bigger budget, check out the Scorpio series of alarm available at Motoworld.

Hope this ans your qns bro! ride safe!

Thank you so much for the information and opinion! :thumb: Appreciate it alot!! Now will surely put Scottoiler in my Need list...while the Alarm as wishlist for now....

Thanks again...anyone going for the SBF roadshow at Scape coming weekend?? :)

Hi guys,

My ride suffered a fall yesterday. A colleague of mine foolishly fell from his bike and consequently 3 other bikes including mine fell in a domino style pile up.

My bike did not suffer much damage, just a broken mirror mount, torn seat cover and the most heart pain of all, a cracked tailboard fairing on the starboard (right) side.

photo.jpg

The crack is not that obvious, but like every other bike enthusiast out there, who likes their ride to have cracks, holes, imperfections right?

Although my colleague is willing to pay for the all the damages for all the bikes, i dun want to 'ketuk' him so bad ah. Another bike, an s4, suffered worse damage, dented yoshi pipe and fuel tank, shattered mudguard and mirror and lots of other scratches. That one close to $400 already.

So aside from buying a completely new plastic or sending for a patch up and respray, what other ideas could u kind bros suggest? :D

Hi MMK,

If you really wanna save your fren, the next best thing is to cover the whole starboard (right) side using 3m stickers,it is the best cheap option. =) your seat can be done at eugene saddelry,i have done once with bro freak and gang.as for mirror,no comment, you are on ur own.hahahx...next tyme ask ur collegue be careful, better sayang his money more.=)

Reminds me back in 2007 a drunkard reversed his mercedes e200 into my bike, toppling it. He was scared I might call the police he offered to pay me cash on the spot. I called guan hoe and the cost of replacing the plastic rear cowling was $360 w/o GST. he gave $500 as I wanted money for time and petrol wasted.

That same day I met some of old GSR riders (Sia and Aaron I think) and they told me another forumer also suffered the same fate as me except it was self inflicted and she had to bear the cost herself. They sourced out a spray paint shop somewhere in ang mo kio. They repaired the plastic, spray painted it. The end result, as if the fall didn't happened. Cost less than $50 I think.

My advice since it's your colleague, do make some calls to paint shops and tell your colleague to be careful next time, somemore it's been raining these past few days..

rien d'autre que le max.

Thanks for the advice and suggestion guys! The mirror mount is just the clip connecting to the brake pump. $18 only. hehe.

Another bike, a Fazer 1000, broke its left mirror. Cost for replacing that stock/oem mirror: $107 :giddy:

Seat, i'm willing to fork out my own money cost cos i intend to change it anyway cos its slippery and my pillions have been complaining.

I'm just worried the rear plastic will cost a bomb.

Less than $50 eh? sounds good.

Guess i have to scout around for paint shops now.

:D
