My back tyres worn out, should i get hard or soft compound?

Anywhere to get second hand tyres?

Why do you need to get a second hand tyres?

Do invest in a brand new tyres for your own safety sake. Tyres have a life span depends on how you take care of it. Even if you buy a brand new tyres, please check to see the shelf time(some bike shop like to buy in bulk and in the end no sales and they have to keep for long period of time.)

Reason why I say not to get a second hand tyres because you never know how much abuse the previous owner has done to it. By looking at the thread marking is no use to determine whether the tyre is in good condition or not.

For more info on how to check the manufacturing dates on the tyres, you can check on the tyre markings:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyre_code

Please invest a little more to get a brand new tyre, ok. *no... I'm not a tyre salesman... just concerned for fellow bikers.* :)

As for hard or soft compound, it depends on your usage. If you want a longer usage, then get those touring tyres. If you're into tracking session, then get soft compound. Soft compound give a better grip but wear off faster.

Hi Slapshock, I pmed you about recommendations. I want to avoid unnecessary argument over which shops are good or which tyres are good.

It's just my recommendations, hope others can also provide you with feedbacks on their tyres. If not, you can spend sometime to do some reading up on this thread because we used to talk alot about tyres and many have given their opinions and experiences over tyres.

Cheers... ride safe!

I got a funny question. If I buy a bike from Thailand, than I ride it down into Singapore, I can just go in right? They don't check the bike. Right? Like how we ride our bike, they don't check the plates.

Immigration might stop u cos every foreign-registered vehicle is tracked/registered using an Autopass Card issued by LTA, although they will just ask u to go to the LTA office after your passport clearance.

And according to LTA regulations, Singaporean/PRs are not allowed to use/own a foreign registered vehicle in Singapore.

Although they is a saying that says, 'U can do whatever you want, just dun get caught'

I guess depends on what mods/accessories u have added in affects the price. I think 9k is probably a good price if your bike is fully stock.

Just went to Unique motors for servicing:

$149 PACKAGE

• NGK Iridium Spark Plugs

• OWS Syntholite 800 10W40 or AGIP Tec 4T 10w40/15w50 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil

• Oil filter

$136 - BMC air filter.

As i bought my gsr 2nd hand, I didn't know whether previous owner change the air filter. So i decided to buy the BMC air filter to replace the "what i though was stock" filter. But the mechanic change the air filter didn't not inform me my air filter was K&N air filter and replace it with BMC instead. $136 fly~ since he already open up the box for BMC. no choice.. sad..

so anyone wanna buy a 2nd hand K&N filter for $50?

Just a word of advice. Do remember to clean the Air Filter from time to time, now that you changed to a aftermarket one. There should be proprietary cleaning kits from BMC.

Hmm...a pretty expensive servicing package to me. That's of course, my opinion.

Looking for same advise too. I need to get my bike servicing ... basic for the moment .. with spark plug/EO/filters ...

Shop + what brand of product is good.

Iridium plugs I think NGX is best

EO and filter?

I already have K&N .. so need to check if that need a change

Battery? if need a change

Anything else that need to be taken care off .. reaching 50K km. And bought 2nd hand a 2 months back so not sure what state the bike servicing s?

Which shop to go to, that will be up to your own personal judgement. One's opinion may not align with another.

All I can say is that, I'll go down Unique for anything major but nothing routine as well as for most bike shop as I like doing these things myself.

EO = Use what you prefer. Oil Filter - Stick to Suzuki Original Filter as the thread for it is Suzuki's proprietary thread.

Spark plugs - there's no NGX spark plugs available, I think you mean NGK. Iridium is definitely more durable than regular spark plugs but if you were to change Iridium sparkies as often as you do, I think you should just stick to the original sparkies meant for GSR4 which is NGK CR8EK, the "regular" spark plug. Besides, I don't think it often much boost in terms of performance.

K&N, Pipercross, DNA, BMC Air filters are known as "Aftermarket" Air filters and more importantly, reusable and washable. Foam filters such as Pipercross have the option of using other cleaners meant for foam filters to clean rather than using the Proprietary cleaners for these filters. K&N filters have their own filter cleaner and is available from Ah boy at quite reasonable price. Anyway, you should clean it regularly.

Battery are fine for an extended period of time as it is charging as the bike is moving. Unless it is failing to maintain the charge as can be detected by a voltmeter, should you mount it on.

Things to note are Chain and Sprockets, Brake pad, Brake fluid, Tires, General Wear and Tear, Lighting, and many many things abnormal that you might detect on your daily riding.
