the GSR is getting common. saw alot today on the road, and apparently, someone from my neighbourhood bought one.

i remembered when i first bought it, all i here is "wah why you buy suzuki ah? low resale value ah.." blah blah.

talking about resale value, i was quoted $10,000 from my current bike shop if i were to roll out another bike from them.

rien d'autre que le max.

for running in, use mineral oil only. its rough i know but synthetic oil is not recommanded to use. b it hard or soft run in. just stick to mineral oil for a short period of time, then after about 2 to 3 oil change then change to semi or fully. anyway, u'll b changing oil very often during the initial stage of running in.

hi, when i got my bike, agent say 1st EO change is 1000km... agent normally give mineral oil and changing shd b after 500km, is dat rite?:)

Guys, guys.

Let me clarify for all.

Let's not speculate nor muddy the water.

Do not claim from your own insurance if its like Risz's case, even if you have 1st party. Even if the other party promise to reimburse back and all sorts of BS after you claim your own insurance, don't listen.

If the other party wishes to settle by cash, fine.

But otherwise, make a claim against the other party's insurance.

You listen and follow the other party's BS, good luck to you.

You do not ask your own insurance to claim against the other party either.

Your own insurance will not be involved except to get details from you concerning the accident and your course of action for the incident.

In any accident, get the other party's details. Everything possible: name, IC, licence plate, company name if vehicle is a commercial vehicle.

If possible, take pictures of the other vehicle's plates, the damages involved (both your vehicle and the other party's), the general picture of the accident (location, direction in relation to the road or a landmark, etc).

If there are witnesses, get their details (name, IC, contact number).

Important is DO NOT SHOW FEAR OR UNCERTAINTY. DO NOT PANIC, even if you are at fault. Let due process take its course. Becoz if the other party sense your uncertainty or fear, they will play punk with you.

Make a report within the first 24 hours to IDAC.

Whether you are claiming the other party's insurance or settling privately, MAKE A REPORT. You can say to the IDAC officer that you wish to file a report first to commit all the details to paper but you do not wish to file a claim yet as you do not know what is the next course of action yet.

The IDAC officer will know what to do.

Don't wait or listen to the other party about waiting for their decision on whether to settle privately or claim insurance. MAKE THAT REPORT FIRST!!!

me mistake. sorry if i causes any confusion.

yup, havent see my bike i hope nt much damaged....i was travelling at along the road beside dover mrt...it a three lane rd n i riding at the extreme right lane when suddenly tis car park at bustop went out straight to the my lane...i no choice jammed break n buang the bike loh if nt i hit the rear n flung forward...

the TP IO told me it a clear cut case...TP will only issue her a summon...

i called her telling her my condition...she want 2 pay my medical bill but my concern is the bike:cry: ...she say wan 2 settle outside n when i say the damaged maybe chalk up to thousand...she replied me how so expensive n ask me 2 claim from my insurance....i have yet 2 do anything...still in a dazed....hope u guys can advised...btw my insurance is 1st party....thanks guys for the concern....

Hi Riz, i dunno whether this works~.. but can give it a try~...

Since this is under the Traffic police case and they also did mention that they will issue her a summon ticket due to her careless and endanger other ppl life driving skill. U can kindly requested the report status from tp(for statement purposes) and also ask for her car insurance company to submit to ur bike insurance company~... then let the insurance fight the case for ya instead of stressing urself. but first u have to report to ur insurance company about wat had happened. After u have done all the above, all u can do is to wait.

but dun forget that once an accident case is reported, ur NCD or NCP(i have forgotten the term for free accident in driving or riding where the insurance company will give ya discount) will be gone~...

This is a sharing experience(where i kana something like that once before). ^^

to know more can meet me up in kallang KFC for more info~...

doesn't seem fair, right? although we are not at fault, our NCD is effected!

You wun lose your NCD (No claim Discount) as long you did not claim against urself (1st party) or an 3rd party successfully claimed against you

anyway, i miss wildcard.

Let me try to make it clearer by stating the options Riz can explore.

1) Ask for a lump sum from that woman and close the matter.

2) Engage a lawyer to claim for you.

3) DIY yourself

i) Report to the your insurance co .

ii) Find out the other party insurance co via LTA

iii) Write to her insurance that you intend to claim against them

iv) Get a estimate of the damages through your bike shop

v) Get in touch with the IO in charge of the case. Once she is convicted of the offence, ask a letter from the IO. Armed with the letter from TP, write to the Insurance co and ask for damages in $$$$$.

Note: DIY method basically let the other party to restore the bike back to the original condition. If you suffered a seriously and the injury will affect you in future as the result of the accident, it is best that you engage a Lawyer to claim that part of the damages.

anyway, i miss wildcard.

If you claim other party, NCD not affected.

Even if you are caught in the middle of a fender-bender where a car hit you from behind causing you to hit a vehicle in front and the driver in front claims from your insurance, your NCD will not be affected as you did not cause the accident.

cheapest i heard around is at bike prod.

i think it's quite a direct, no-nonsense shop in terms of dealing and stuff.
