I'm 26 this year but I've been riding for under 1 year. the ins co is Mitsui.

I think only Mitsui and NTUC doing ins for old bikes. but NTUC quote is at least double of Mitsui's

most bike shops will do the ins for you but will charge you a nominal service charge of like $20. you can actually go to an ins agent and they do it for you on the spot without service charge, i.e. just pay the premiums.

Ok same age but I've been riding for ard 5 years.

How come my insurance costs way higher than yours?

Its with NTUC btw.

I just got a 1977 Vespa Sprint and the insurance for 3P was just under 170. It cost me quite a lot to restore (better get the engine checked out if you want to buy a classic vespa, restoration is a huge hidden startup cost) It's currently at Tong Aik at Golden Wall, I should be getting it this weekend.

But I hear that the running cost is pretty low and the cost of 2T is marginal. Anyway the engine seems hardy enough since the bike's older than me and still up and running

Hey..hw come ah...u got a cheaper insurance...urs is under mitsui ezit..heemmmmm..

so mitsui's insurance premiums are way lower than NTUC?

NCD can be transfered when u make the switch to other insurance companies I've heard.

I'll ask ard.

Hi, to add on,

my insurance is from NTUC, for my 1978 vespa sprint.

its $429 3rd party. Me P plate. 4 months in. Though driving 3 plus years, they dont take into account.

Moreover, if something happen to my points to my scoot, my car will be affected too!! sigh...

This I also not sure... but i think NTUC is more reputable in Singapore and bigger organisation. So i dont mine paying a bit more if necessary...

Was told tat NTUC insurances for 'bike' is the cheapest among all, but difficult to claim due to certain factors.

AIG is more claiming friendly but cost abit more.

Can call them up to confirm wats the benefits and price liked.

Normally classic vespa will be getting 3rd party insurances and it is mend for people to claim, so why bother.

But there maybe people who get 2nd party or even 1st party insurances, then AIG may come useful.

So what u pay is what u get.

I'm having problems with my IU. Can I ask you guys where you put your IU.

I can see that un-sith places it on the handle bar, but don't mind me saying, not very nice leh

I used to put mine on top of the front box but slightly to the left. cannot read, then I got a letter from LTA to go for a check. I went for the check but it was okay. but that very day cannot read again.

I changed the position to in the centre of the top of the front box but in a horizontal position. then yesterday I went through a gantry but cannot read.

anyboy encounter this problem ... how to solve ah?

Posted

Ha, no probs.

But its a fool proff way i guess....

I went to LTA lots of time regarding the IU reading issue.

Rules to folllow:

1 IU cannot be block by anything,(Dun ask me why R1 can place their IU in their rear seat)

2 IU must face 45degree upwards, like what u see at un-sith photo.

3 Working IU

4 Working and value added cash card.

5 Working battery

6 If you fulfil the above 5 points and you still can't be read by the gantry, then call up LTA and screw up their phone opertors :cheer:

wah... u SME (subject matter expert) of IU stuff... :cheeky:
