kurarensu, what kinda of vespa are you referring to?

those old style vespa whereby it is manual and changing of gears is done by our hands? or the new/modern ones which are auto?

GT200, LX150... for a lady, a LX150 should feel better, since its smaller and lighter. But up to individual.

 

not too sure about the price OTR for a brand new one, don't want to quote wrongly. But definitely there are new ones for the modern vespas

last i heard it was ard $8000+ for a GT 200...

but with the increased GST n revised rules for mitsui (from 2007, those with less than 1yr riding exp has to pay a $150 premium)..

i think i would potentially be alot more expensive than before unless COE drops drastically.

yeah....the last time i heard from those GT guys is that it csot about 8k for a GT200....

you might wanna drop a post in the modern vespa thread....here, we are all the traditional scoots folks....heehee!!!

 

for a lady....i feel LX150 suit them better.....

just flooded the carb in the parking lot...

engine died & i dunno how to start..

lucky it was in the eunos industrial estate...no vehicles...

it's more difficult to ride a vespa than it looks!

lucky the towkay at soon motors very helpful..

hassle as it may be, these keys are pretty small....but if possible, do keep another set as spares just in case....

or if wanna change to fully synthetic from semi synthetic, must empty out the tank first then can add the fully synthetic??

aniways, if i hear a pinging sound at high speeds,it means i'm running too lean right?

pinging means you are pumping gas with lower-than-you-should octane.

 

what grade you pump now? 92?

when going 60-70km/h can already hear

Its pinging, and yes it can be due to running too lean.... don't ride fast till you've either a) figured out how to look at your jetting... (tools needed are two screwdrivers... one is + type the other - type) or B) wait until the meetup for indepth explanation....

Ok, yours is a PX200....

 

go to either vespamaintenance.com and look at how to check your carb jetting.. follow steps 1 and two and then skip to step 11 (you don't need to remove the carb...)

 

Basically, remove the airbox cover, then remove the air filter... then you'll see some brass screws ... the mainjet stack is the biggest brass screw (see pics)

 

In step 11, you'll see that the stack is made up of 3 pieces... the top is the air corrector, the middle the mixer, and the bottom is the main jet... The main jet is the one you need to check... if its anything lower than a 125 you neeeeeed to change it.. Stock is a 116 which is far to lean for the cylinder you have on. I have some spare jets if you want... I'll be back in Singapore the day after newyear.

 

Also check which sparkplug you have... if its a N9YC... change it. You should be using an NGK B8ES with your cylinder ( I don't care what the mechanic says on this!). You can buy this sparkplug from ban heo leong in Jln Besar PLaze.. the shop is facing JLN Besar so you don't need to go inside the shopping centre.

 

 

I'll bring a tool along to the meetup so we can check your timing (assuming that changing the richer main jet (125, 128, or even a 130 which would be the safest) and colder spark plug (like the NGK B8ES don't cure the prob [which is a possibility])

 

Anyone here know where I can buy a colder sparkplug than the B8ES??? I think I need a B9ES for my setup... Ban Hoe Leong only has the B8, and other scooter shops don't seem to stock the right plugs!
