are you sure it's not illegal?

i have friends who were stopped and caught for it.

its quite a closely guarded secret for those in the know....

not good to openly discuss it here....even in eurovanclub forums...

too many people know...someone will find out the loophole & plug it...

if anyone really wanna know...can come to eurovanclub meetups...

lets lay a bet...i drive my stock combo DTI into malaysia....i show you i can hit 165kmh at least..

we wager S$1K....cash.you sit beside me.

like i said it is on papers. or maybe you want to sue OPEL for that claim?

for the 1.7 CDTI, the stated top speed is 170km/hr.

what about the stability of the vehicle at such speed?

a normal car could easily hit such speed.

don't need to be so defensive, i am not the one who is comparing.

jB was the one who said that the TC-ed vans can "fight" with WRX.

i just wanna to say there is no fight at all, in 0-100km/hr or in the top speed.

and how much does a WRX cost? $80K? loan of $60K for most commoners?

i bought my 2.5 year old combo with $22K cold hard cash...no loans...

im liability free.

can any $22K non-OPC below 3 years old give me a run for my money? guess not...

bang for buck....i guess i got the best deal.

the car vs van comparison will never end....there are things a van can do but a car cant...vice versa..

anyway...lets get back to topic of van vs van shall we?

bro, i have friends who owned such vans too.

i know it's very value for money.

and like you said vice-versa, they have different functions and serve different needs.

but when someone say a TC-ed van can beat a WRX, i have to say something.

just in case someone really bought a TC-ed van because of that claim, then realise it isn't true.

it will be too late then. :cheeky:

yeah peace bro....

if anyone who thinks a $40K van can beat a $80K WRX...he must be dreaming....

who will want to spend $80K on a WRX then?

Maybe turbo pickup can't beat wrx but can beat normal impreza ;)

it's not a "maybe".

like i said the turbo chargers are for very different purposes.

seems like you don't really know alot about 4 wheels vehicles.

most cars in the same class are faster than the impreza.

(the impreza TS is slow and underpowered due to the heavy chassis and AWD)

but the AWD serves its function well during corners.

and mind you, not all who drives a WRX are "spoilt brats".

did you join the tour malaysia EVC trip?

i heard from my friends, alot of the guys were speeding all the way.

yeah i did....really had fun testing out the limits of my vehicle....

rather...near the limits...cos my timing belt was near its end of life...so i didnt push my vehicle all the way...

and to see what others could do...some are jaw dropping i must say....we were going past some s'pore cars & attracting some stares from them...hahaha....

I don't know much, I'm just waiting for you guys to enlighten me

my friend bought an impreza, laughed it off when price dropped some amount.

Have fun with your 4 wheelers.

you can do that for cars, put 21" inch also can.

but for goods vehicle, it's illegal.

they are very strict even on the tyres' size/width you uses. :giddy:

My dad's Vito interior is starting to fall apart after 5 years, and around 150,000kms done. Driven around in Singapore for afew years, It was shipped to Australia, where it seems to be much happier as it can stretch its legs. Cruises very nicely at the national speed limit of 110km/h.

Air conditioner is as powderful as ever, but the radio and trim issn't very durable. The engine is very tough and will last forever, just change the engine oil, oil AND fuel filter regularly. Clogged fuel injectors are not cheap.

As with all turbo engines, let the oil circulate before driving off, and give at least a minute of gentle driving before revving it, or the turbo might seize if its not lubricated and warmed up properly. I see some delivery drivers just start engine and whack.... :giddy:

So in short, the vehicle is very tough, built to last. Mercedes knows what its doing.

shouldnt be too difficult for a caddy to do it...

1.9 litres plus turbo plus a lot of mods...can be done...rather easily..

whats more..the caddy is a very mechanical car...very few computers & electronics to contend with, hence its ease of upgrading...

can ask around the eurovan club community for that "legendary" caddy....

and no liteace can match my fuel consumption. i can get 16km to the litre average.

thats true. The best i achieved with my liteace was 16.7km/l with no load, average ard 14km/l. Many euro vans can achieve this figure easy. Guess must be the areodynamics of the body. Jap vans are physically bigger than most euro vans.

Posted

yeah..most jap vans have a rather square front, making wind cutting taxing..

whereas eurovans have a car front...

actually in europe, our so called eurovans are actually cars there too...or we have the cabin of a car..

and diesel engines are even used in mid sized & luxury cars there..VW, mercedes & opel are some of the manufacturers who use diesel engines for passenger cars..

your liteace is petrol or diesel version?
