I am not sure if such a rider exists.

However, there was a rumour about a biker who has owned, maintained, repaired, and modified, among others machines, some china bicycles, all Honda XRs (both dirt & SM), WR400, DRZ, AT, Savage, TDM, and of late, a Bandit. It's quite unbelievable, and I think there is little truth, in fact more like a load of bull, but I can be wrong

No lah, I would start to feel sorry for myself as your gang all ride fierce, fast, mean & heavily accessorized machines.

a little criticism on the TDM is good.

Yamaha had a good trailie in the Tenere, but it was discontinued, now they have revived it in the form of XTZ, but it couldn't be subject to the ultimate test in Dakar 2008 as it was canceled.

Should the XTZ arrive here, dump the TDM, and get the XTZ. I can already see the synergy.

Don't be angry, let's have mushroom steak at Spize, heard it's awesome. Pick a day, my treat.

I have thought about it.but decided not to even if it were to land here around next month as told by Mr. Lee.My XR will fair just as good as the XTZ since its a single.

Thanks all for your inputs.

Ok, so they are not all full fledged trailies or not even close to being called that. But I guess you guys know what I mean in the 'local' context rite. . .

As I started the thread asking for opinions, I do mean to know how are YOUR views on the bike or bikes you have owned or ridden. Also why did you make that bike choice. I used to ride an AT years back, just that now I start to feel the itch to relive that kind of ride feel again. Therefore I am merely doing my research here on the choices and considerations etc before I commit on 1.

Pls dun start a flaming war guys, show the :lovestruck:.:smooch:.

If you don't mind, may I ask all to kindly stick to the topic pls. Lets practice some forum ethics here 'ite?

Thanks again.

Pls do note that I've never ride any of these bikes!

suzuki's engine hasn't always been smooth. more so at high speed.

africa twin looks too off-roadish for me.

TDM is impressive, but as one previous post mentioned, too old

vara has a babybrother called vara125...which kinda make the bigger brother no longer as exclusive

But if I were to choose... and if vara125 were to be a good representation of it's bigger brother, i'll go for vara1k. it SHOULD be comfy, it's look can fit onto singapore's urban city image. and personally, i'm biased towards honda engines due to their excellent performance, reliability, stability and modest FC.

but, please do correct if i'm wrong here.

yup..i couldn't agree less with the TDM point...its old fashion...same goes with the riders...we still believe in having sex only after marriage..:thumb:

so my point is...go get yourself with wateva bikes and not to believe in peoples personal judgement.must i repeat?different bikes are made for different riders.

The AT is nice but by nowadays standards just don't cut it anymore. Engine is outdated and the fare is pretty heavy. If you liked the AT before, I think you will like the more contemporary DL650. Fuel is around 24 km / liter, top speed around 195 kph, powerful acceleration even when loaded with two person. The power actually belies the engine size. Suspension should be very good for the lower weight of Asians. It has no issues like the DL1000 had in the first year, and the ABS is brilliant. The seat is real big and comfy. Space for two person is ample, unless you are Moses Lim. It has surprising good handling when riding around town for a bike of this dimensions. The only thing which is a bit odd is the design with the single-side exhaust. I rode all the bikes you mentioned, I previously owned a DL1000, and now own a GS. If you have questions please feel free to ask.

Regards

Peter

ya i also more interested in DL650...but seem quite hard to find...especially 2nd hand. For me 1000cc is an overkill...either in power, tax or insurance. Rode an AT before, nice but very heavy and have fuel pump problem...but once change it...everything ok. Initially also like the thread starter lookin high and low for a suitable adventure bike but...:

1) AT too old and price abit too ex for the year of the bike...but good thing is alot of accessories and ofcos good resale value.

2) 1200GS is my ultimate dream...but man...way too ex...buying it would mean giving up alot of other thing...and getting a 2nd and suay suay have problems...WORST...parts are ex....now waiting for the new F650GS and the F800GS...but i guess same vitamin $$$ problem...

3) Vara1000...i always trust the honda product for the durabiltiy and build...too bad it only has a 125cc and not a 650cc version...

4) TDM...looks good ...but somehow it seems not being able what it wanna be? a road or adventure trallie bike? but also dun have a 650cc version...and the price makes it not very attractive...

5) DL650...i guess it's more hightech which is comparable to the Vara. as of now kinda fit my bill...in price, tax and pwr...but i think need to get used to the looks...i guess diff taste bah...another thing is that suzuki support in spore is not very good...

Hey Bro, my EXACT sentiments! But not too keen on a beemer($$,$$$). . .

Lurve the looks on this but seems like an overkill and I wouldn't be able to utilise the bike fully.
