Hey guys, am looking out for a steed that is below $3k with at least 3yrs COE, do PM me if you know of any. btw, anyone got good workshops in JB to recommend to mod steed?

Modifying bike takes time and it is not 1 time affair to collect and say bye bye. You will need to go back again and again to get things tuned properly. If you do it in JB, then you'll need to travel a few times which will need alot of time. Of cos, if you got plenty of time and if you enjoy sitting around the workshop whole day waiting for the bike to be ready, then by all means. I did mine in local, just leave my bike in the workshop and I can carry on with my work. No need to waste my leave or rest day. No offence, just sharing....

2.) Exhaust Pipes - Is there a certain decibel or legal limit to how loud it can get if I 'cheng' the sound? meaning can my steed sound like harley and still pass inspection or only harley allowed to make a lot of noise? Also what other pipes are legal besides the original? cobra? fishtail? etc?

cheng = fail

3.) Bobber Rear Fender - When I do this it makes my ride a single seater but I kinda read somewhere that you can attach a detachable pillion seat somehow is this true? Also I wanna add saddlebags (the hard and lockable leatherwrap kind) to the ride... so when I change to the custom bobber rear fender will it still be possible to add saddlebags to my ride?

to the bottom side of the frame possible , sry duno exact term

4.) Custom Air Cleaner - The spike design for e.g. is this legal?

yep

5.) Custom Handlebars - What is legal and what is illegal? Or got certain limits that makes it legal or illegal one... E.g. Ape hangers, Drag Bars...etc...

i believe above shoulder level fail

Besides Soon Fah which I have read many good things about where else can I go to as a one stop shop to get customizations on steeds done?

one stop places got a few places tat each individual swear by , best advice from me is to personally check with the mechs / shop owners for prices as the range of cost can vary alot between different shops.

if price is not a factor , i believe using the search function can yield a few results that will solve ur query

just my 2 cents

Hey bros

I have always seen all the great custom jobs on the roads and have been dreaming of doing one up and hopefully if all goes well I will have my ride this Saturday and will be joining the Custom Steed fraternity soon... : )

So I need all your help and expertise in custom modding a Steed...

Besides Soon Fah which I have read many good things about where else can I go to as a one stop shop to get customizations on steeds done?

I am also more of a hassle free kinda rider so in any case I would like all of my mods to be street legal so dont have to go thru the mah-fun-ness of refitting original parts during yearly pilgrimage to Vicom...

Now for some irritating noobie questions: (please indulge me :cheeky:)

1.) Fork extensions - are they legal? or is there a limit to how long the forks can be meaning can extend legally up to a certain length...? (now got regal raptor spyder the fork damn long sia)

2.) Exhaust Pipes - Is there a certain decibel or legal limit to how loud it can get if I 'cheng' the sound? meaning can my steed sound like harley and still pass inspection or only harley allowed to make a lot of noise? Hey bro, I did mine at Soon Fah workshop, by Ah di who has passion on customising chopper bike. I like his after-sales service and ofcos his ideals of customising the bike. He will give you opinions and most important, he don't mod blindly, he will ensure the bike is safe to ride after heavy modifications. Some of the bros here had sent their steed to him and you can see from the photos.

Alternatively, you can go to Rosli. My bike was checked and serviced by him before I striped my bike. He is knowledgeable and good with honda cruisers.

Modifications of bike is never legal. So if you get caught, you just have to pay the fines.

1)Fork extentions - illegal. Extending forks will affect your handling of the bike. If you don't extend too high, should not be noticeable.

2)Exhaust pipes - only stocks are legal and can pass inspection. Modifying them will become illegal. Fine $500 if stopped by LTA.

3)Bobber rear fender - illegal. Adding a detachable pillion is very dangerous as it is not strong enough to hold the weight of a human. Just imagine when your pillion fell off when the detachable joins gave way due to humpy road conditions. I had never seen a bobber with hard saddlebags. Bobber = remove as many things from bike as possible.

4)Air cleaner - Don't think LTA is so strict to catch after-market air cleaner.

5)Handlebars - only original bar is legal. So far drag bars with high risers can still pass inspection but not ape hangers.

Posted
4.) Custom Air Cleaner - The spike design for e.g. is this legal?

yep

I don't think legal lei. no unnecessary sharp protruding objects on the vehicle as it will further aggravate any injuries in accidents.

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

I agree. bobber is meant for single rider. unnecessary parts (including pillion) should just be left at home.

You can try putting sidebags like oldboys steed.

but if you want to make your steed stand out, bobbing is what the steed was born for. i can sell you the rear fender if you decide to carry it out.

saw your bike over at ah di's. nicely done.

but i think all the bobbers done at ah di are similar somehow... but your handlebar with yellow handgrips and mirrors are truly unique. congrats bro

Harleys are also not allowed to have loud pipes. They get summoned too, just like everybody else.

Maybe the only difference is that the owners just do not care.

All the info can be found on the web easily, just need a little practice. Tools can be quite ex tho. I managed to get a DC TIG welder 2nd hand which was unused for $350, with gas and gear adds up o be about $450.

I did it outside my office, it's a light industry estate so can do it. I think it's quite safe to do TIG welding in residential area but ARC welding would be a bit dangerous(and smoky!).

Hi Oldboy, do u have saddlebag only on one side of your bike? How did you attach it there ah?

Also this question is for all your guys... where do ya go for your custom paint jobs? I have a design in mind which is pretty intricate and might need airbrushing where can I go to have it designed and also recommend any shops with great workmanship or good quotations price wise...

Thanks bros...

P.S. Woo hoo cant wait to pick up my steed tomorrow... :p

hey guys. am looking for a honda steed, or even better a steed springer. 2nd hand with still a couple of years left in COE. not in a hurry to get one, but would be great if i could get my hands on one soon. ^^

The bags come in pairs but I bought one side from a bro in this forum. It was mounted onto a bracket customised by Ah Di.

I ever ask for a quote for airbrushing my tank and it cost around $900, excluding other parts (eg: fenders).

Gratz on your new ride! :)

Ok another noob question... I was fiddling with the bike yesterday and was trying to remove the seat. Where is the catch to remove the seat located at? Or how do I go about removing the seat? I actually wanna strip down the tank and fenders to just spray the whole bike a matt black first before I bring it to a shop to customize the paintwork coz right now the body got scratches and cracks and all so ugly and its a silver colour...

Hey oldboy where do u think i can get bags that look like urs or do u know of a shop that has plenty of saddlebags design to choose from? So far I only come across the ones they sell at aunty shop.Thanks.

Went to Ah Di today actually as recommended by Oldboy and a few others and I have to say he is a genuinely nice guy... Also saw 3 Steed Bobbers in the making there... any of the bros in here own them?

I needed to do some carb work and gasket replacement (it was leaky) as well as coolant inspection since my engine was too hot so I left my bike in his good hands for now... Was hoping to get everything done in one place but Ah Di has limited variety of accessories on hand...

So Bros please share on some contacts needed...

Like Mr Orange, I want to setup some saddlebags on my ride, so which place has a large variety? I want the lockable kind...

Where do I get PSB approved half cap helmet (the one with leather wrap kind)?

Where to go for custom seat wrapping and leather helmet wrapping?

Where to go to get spike design foot pegs?

Thanks in advance bros!!!

LOL, there's no PSB approved half cap helmet at all in sg.

Harley only brings in open face due to PSB approval. Their 3/4 cap are already not approved, let alone half cap, jockey cap, skull cap.

Helmet fine shd be 50 or 80bux i believe, wear only! hahahahah.

Custom seat wrapping, go to eugene sua. most recomended.
