a stock steed sounds like a s4 too hahahaha..

i feel that that brand is awesome creating already modded bikes like that.

but the single cylinder? ): alot of vibs!

How much is this?

The sound-like-s4 i meant was like R6 idling kinda hong-hong-hong & vhom vhom whn you throttle on neutral.

The least, stock steed sounds pop-pop-pop-pop on idle. =\

Last heard from about a year ago, Spyder was 22 - 23k MP, 24 - 25 OTR.

I rem some posting these info many posts back.. but costs differ too much depending on workshop.

For eg.. mineral oil at planet is as low as $18 but at another shop, it can be $36.

Regular maintenance sort

- EO

- oil filter

- spark plugs

- air filter

- coolant

- coolant cap

- front, rear brake pads

- brake fluid

- battery

Others - as they wear

Wah jialat very dim ):

Ive resigned to fate.

Could we have a post on common repairs and maintainence?

Bike no electric power after turning key to on. Bike was fine a wk before that.

Only knew when mech tried recharging batt = fail. Test rectifier = dead. Means... stator liao.. It's a standard wear & tear after 14 yrs of use.

From my user point of view, I can't tell apart from whether it's rectifier or stator without some voltmeter to test. Plus I too weak to push start my steed to see if it's a pure battery fault. I think the best tell tale sign is when your neutral light starts to get progressively dimmer.. and then you get your batt/ rectifier checked & stil working fine.

Rectifier cost me high 100-200 at the bikeshop I frequent.

I rem changing a rectifier at planet end '08 for $130. Prob the cheapest if you have major faults to fix.

Hi, im a fitness maniac and i did managed to push start if your battery is of a great condition/new.

If not, you could invest in a battery charger. Who wants mine? $15 only hehehe.

Thanks econ. I have a voltmeter installed and its readings are bad now. Time to get it checked then!

Thanks for the figures. Appreciate it.

i just change mine rectifier at LAB for 175, is that cheap or ex? they say its the charging unit for the batt and it looks like a big heatsink we use on a motherboard. is it the same thing we are talking abt?

Upgraded from TA200 to SS400 in 09/2011

FC Average

TA200 - 9L/30km =D

SS400 - 10L/20km =(

hey guys! sorry for this silly question but ive no idea if my speedometer is counting MPH or KM/H. My speedometer is the kind with the MPH as the BIG number on the outside and KM/H on the inside. (sounds confusing).

But thing is, ive been pumping full tank and i only managed to get at most 120+ till i hit reserve. i read thru and most ppl seems to be able to hit 200+. So im a little confused as to whether it's my speedometer reading or if my bike FC is really so low. Please help!!

thanks ppl!

So tired.

Yesterday, i

1. Charged my battery. In the end dont know if I charged it in the first place because plug came out.

2. Relocated my rear license plate.

3. Relocated my tool bag

4. Relocated my Iu unit connection.

5. Top up battery water

6. Top up main coolant reservoir.

7. Top up reserve coolant reservoir with 400ml thats left on me but still can take in more! Jialat.

May i ask, if i top up, should it be the proportioned mix or just plain old distilled water?

Where to get distilled water for such purposes cheaply? Thanks!

Any reviews on the shinko tyres?

They only cost half as much as the dunlops and bridges.

For coolant, plain ol' water from the tap will do.....distilled water is more for the batt, till the line indicated...

Been using shinko w/o problems so far. But not sure how long they last. But its goOd enough for short term investment.

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

Hi bro, from my research, tap water due to additional chemicals will cause rust to the internals of the radiator.

i used the shinko on steed. loved it.

Thanks for the review guys. A piece of mind.

Armani, were you using the dunlops or bridges to compare with?

He's spot on, on using water = bad idea. Will cause internal rust in the long run. Spend abit & use coolant. The rust will cause wearing of inside parts over time and translate into engine overheating problems.

Plus water def not as effective as coolant. You'll probably cause your external cooling fan to work extra hard.

Not suppose to just use water ONLY. Topping up would probaly meant that there is aleady coolant inside, as most cases do. Would need to top up from time to time cos the water content in the coolant will evaporate....if coolant looks damn pale, time to top up the coolant too...
