If going to First Motor, be sure to not let the Aunty quote you. She tried to rip me off the other time. Let the boss quote.

Worksmanship of mechs, I think they're quite good.

I recommend Rosli at Autobay for delicate jobs. Only negative is the waiting time. Try to go very early on Sat morning.

My bike's wire problems have not return since my last visit, which was 3 months ago

Guys, i'm not saying First Motor is not good but read my ongoing situation with them and think twice, thrice before going to them.

17th Jan: Send my Steed in to just rechrome my switches, master pump, radiator cover... Since it looks like a minor job, the boss(Leonard) quoted me $570 including workmanship, to be completed in 10days. Sounds reasonable so i gave a $400 deposit.

18th Jan: Went again down as i decided to fully rechrome the bike. This time i have to pay another $550 plus a workmanship of $100. So i fully paid a total of $1220 for the whole job. More work more money, fair enough. Leonard this time told me that it will take about 1week plus to complete. Means won't be ready by SBF 11th anniversary then. Nevermind lor, since its already there, might as well strip out the whole and give it a new coat of paint including the frame. Leonard recommended Extreme Paint which is a few unit away. Quoted me $400+ and can deliver by before CNY eve...

Let me just shorten things here. Between then and now, i have been going to First Motor once/week just to see the progress and chase after them. Everytime i call Leonard asking him to give me completion date, he will say call me back but NEVER CALL AT ALL.

Up to now he still have not told me the actual price for the paintjob! I can't take it liao! Its now 19th Feb and i still haven't get my bike! What a way to do business! So people, think twice, think thrice about it.

I called Leonard just now telling him that i feel insecure about the money paid and the wait and i might have to consider legal action if he can't give me the actual price of the paintjob today. And guess what he said?! He says go ahead! He said he will now leave my bike unfinished and outside the shop and scolded me for being an unreasonable fellow!

Then he went on to say that he is doing me a service by charging cheap workmanship. Hello! If he wants to charge me high fees in the first place, then in the first place, just pen it down in the invoice when he issued it. I'm alr willing to spend and pay those invisble fees liao but why say such things? Even when he said must pay additional for the fork oil, seals and gaskets, i never reject him at all.

I'm going to CASE tml and lodge a complaint against him. Pray that i don't strike the 10M Toto this fri or else sure sue till he drop. Again, i must stressed that i'm not an unreasonable customer. I'm just protecting my rights since i've alr paid for most of the job. No matter how he used vulgarites on the phone just now, i still addressed him as Uncle and gave him the due respect. Looks like the respect was overrated...

People, please be very careful with shops like this.

sorry for you it's a sad story ... this is why when i order some job i only paid them with a bank check with a validity date against my approval , cost something like 15 bucks , but example you say the job will be done at the 15 march , the check will be paid the 15 march after the bank call me if i agree or not , so be sure every shop owner we rush for be on time .... otherwise they have no cents in their pocket.

by the way you can sue him also for don't give your bike ;-)

That's before .... wait to see After

Out of goodwill and trust, that's why i pay beforehand. I'm not those ******* customer who will complain this complain that and expect to get discount after that. Its the same principle as paying for my food before i receive it. Too bad, he clearly breached my trust. Called me a lan jiao lang somemore... I'm bringing this to CASE, medias and ultimately Small Claims.

For those who had good experience with FM, do continue your relationship with them. Again, i'm not against the shop as a whole. Please try to understand how frustrating you will be if you went thru the same. I'm alr keeping my cool and being rational about it.

@Hydher: I'm not blaming you for the recommendation. In fact, i thanked you for it. But it will be fair that you inform others about my case before you direct them to FM. Let them decide on their own whether they want to proceed there.

Most stock bike rear suspension cannot be repaired, because the whole thing comes sealed as a unit. Have to change to a new one.

Front can change fork oil and spring.

Try Planet Motorcycles... 67474740.

I go there for all non-engine problems.

Sorry to hear about your case Veil... Hope you can quickly get it resolved and get back on the road! Weather seems to be clearing up now. It's been raining every single day since CNY.

I actually wanted to put my same case as Veil behind me but since he brought up at this forum, I will add one more negative feedback about FM. I sent my bike last year one month before Hari Raya to change to footpegs, handlebar, relocate speedomer, add spotlight, chrome the exhaust pipes, & servicing. Leonard gave a promising picture that he will priortise my bike. All repairs will be ready in 7 days. Eventually the bike was ready one month after Hari Raya. 2 months altogether!.. Bike left untouched until 2nd week after Hari Raya... Leonard kept giving different reason everytime i come over to check on the progress of my bike. I just have to keep calling him & beg to complete the repair. In conclusion, it was a very shoddy workmanship & cheap parts. It cost me $900+ and it's not worth it.

Anyone gonna scrap your steed?

Or know any bike shop with a steed thats gonna be scrapped?

(either due to coe expiry, engine seize, damaged beyond repair etc)

I only need a good frame for a transplant project.

The only reason why I'm not laughing with you is that I prefer laughing at you.

Frame i don't think it will be possible due to the numbering, i have see this week-end a Steed that will be probably scraped but not sure the one have it will let it go like this for free or even give you.

My problem is that I got a very good bike that is running out of Coe in 1 year. I can either export it at the end of Coe, or get another frame from another bike that has a different registration number and do a full organ transplant. Thereafter, adopting the new registration number and frame number. Engine swop is legal if the new engine comes from a vehicle of the same model.

That's new info to me. Hmm wonder if we can swap a Steed 600 engine into our 400. Get some workshop to grind off the existing engine number and stamp the registered one. Do the same for the outgoing engine so that the other bike can be deregistered.

If I am not wrong Steed 400 and Steed 600 is exactly identical except the engine cylinder size. And you can't tell by looking from outside.

Just curious, why unable to renew COE? Someone ended it's life with a 5yr COE renewal?

long time ago, i swap the cylinder and the breech of my bike for bigger one but this don't work so well as you also have to change the crankshaft if you want a good result , but depend on some inner part also some part in the gearbox have to be change , so you see is not that simple.

BUT if you have the chance to get a full 600 engine , you can probably dismantle the full engine and only keep the casing engine where the number is i don't think the bearing will be different so it will surely work ... this can be done only if you want to keep your bike as collector ;-)
