Hello folks, hope i am able to find someone to shed some kind light here on this problem.

Some second hand Steed that i've been looking for have been modded into a single scoop seat which could only barely fit one butt (sample, see "Pic 01" in the attached).

Pic01 - oneseat_.jpg

Looks good and freaking killer looks and all, if i am single, but the fact is i'm not and i'd most likely use these bikes as transport bike, ie occasionally having the missus as passenger at the rear.

The conversion from stock to single scoop has gone through one irreversable step - the actual chopping off of the pillion rear fender frame which acts as main support to the pillion seat pan. It has passed the point of no return ( sample, see "Pic 02" in the attached).

Pic02 - chopped off tail_.jpg

Now, i won't have a problem if i were to go for stock Steeds - that i know, but of course the problem is that this single scoop bike is killer amazing overall and i would really want to do something on it to include seat for pillion, if i can (or someone at a workshop can).

I searched around and has seen someone did something amazing, added a secondary single scoop by way of soldering on an extra protrusion ( see "Pic 03" ).

Pic03 - bobber_two_seats_.jpg

Questions :

1. Is this legal ? (can pass inspection boh ?)

2. Will this hold up with the strength well ?

3. Does anyone know any workshop who has done this, or are good at doing this ?

If you look at "Pic 04", which by the way is not a Steed, but a TW200 as a sample.

Pic04 - tw200bobber_.jpg

4. As an alternative solution, do you think it is possible to mod the Steed to a long seat (like in the Pic 04 sample) that could accomodate two people ? (Based on what a layman like me thinks, it's quite difficult as the Steed's rear wheel height is actually higher than the mid frame)

1. cutting/welding frame not legal. if caught, high chance must scrap bike.

2. may be strong enough depending on the person welding it. Welding points rust easily, so high chance of snapping. but i'm pretty sure there are good welders out there.

3. First Motors (Ubi Rd 1) does these kinda things, but workmanship not so good. With you putting your pillions live at the mercy of two welded points, maybe you try some other shops instead. I cant think of any right now.

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

Haha i guess the solution 1) dont pillion or 2) use nut and bolt joints 3) try sengkwang for good welding and good materials

Niwei the solution is to get a metal bar and slot into the frame and weld shut. Sure strong. Pic below shown for illustration purposes. Heeeee

Hmmm are there any bike shops that can "help this bro pass inspection" nowadays?

If not, most likely the welding back of the rear frame will be spotted during the inspection.. and failed.

Ask around if got "ways to pass" before welding.. sakali weld liao.. inspection fail.. zzz

Not really. The fender is over the strut, not in between. Else just use chrome fender struts to cover the frame.
