Guys... I hit a problem... I juz bought a lowering kit for my vlx... Trouble is, my suspension bushing apparently is corroded and the rod tht is holding the suspension cant b tkn out according to the mech... Anyone have any ideas what can be done?

Or try lotsa wd40 to let it seep thru and wait a few days. Who knows the oil might loosen the bolt a bit.

Last resort, try another mech. Get a 2nd opinion. Cos you don't want to scrap ur steed just cos the shock cannot be changed in the future.

I'm not very sure which part of it was stuck but if there's no way to knock it out, then try to find a 2nd hand forks then. I think should have a lot of steed parts at scrapyard.

Nt sure which post you are referring to... Its my rear suspension that is having problem... The rod which locks the suspension to the frame.. Thats the one that is stuck... Apparently mech says the suspension bushing has corroded together to the rod... Have yet to ask other shops... Any shops to recommend? Apart frm rosli and teck thye?

Clifford is the boss and mech too. The other mechs are good too.

Niwei, the bolt can be loosened from both sides, the right nut will come off and the left one is actually the long bolt that goes thru the shock. Can that bolt be turned or is the hex shape gone too? My first steed more than 20 yrs ago had the same problem but the bolt still managed to come off. Did the mech raise or lower the bike with a jack when he tried to remove the bolt? The bike needs to be raised a bit to take off the pressure on the bolt else it'll seem like the bolt is stuck. I know Cos i change my own shock and did it last yr. And did the mech use a metal bar to hammer the bolt out? Tink tts what my mech did for my steed long ago.

Yup... He did try to unloosen frm both side, jacked it up, used the metal bar to knock... Even used the compressed air tool...

Wow. Then u spray wd 40 a lot a lot and hope for the best. Maybe unbolt the bottom shock, spray lotsa wd40 from the bottom, then shake the shock itself to let the oil seep in. It's just a suggestion. Prolly the bolt rusted in the frame already.

😭😭... mech say have to strip the whole bike and burn the frame and shock till the rust burn off... sianzzz... looking to b more and more impossible...

Hi hi, appreciate any advice from seniors here.

Problem is my steed stutters after starting, especially at gear 1, 2, 3. The stutter is especially bad at pick up from stationary at gear 1, but when cruising at high gears around 80kmh, the stutter is occasional.

Somehow managed to ride it from Tuas to Ubi.

Service shop boss said my carburetor cui-ed, pilot jets needle jets all worn, air filter and spark plugs esp bad condition.

Wana ask any seniors opinions an estimated price I should pay for such service.

Not comparing prices though, just hoping I am not paying excessive pricing.

If ur carb idling ok, then ur carb body still ok. So just need to service the carb and change/clean the stuff inside it. Also, check if ur airbox not leaking and air filter all ok

The diaphragm is the most costly single item. The rest all small costs here and there which might add up to abt 400+ (if hv to change both diaphragms)

If have to change carb, get from Scrapyard. Will cost abt $150.

well i only go to either ah chong, rosli or clifford fr K&T for servicing.

ah chong has too many customers to handle, rosli takes long time for detailed servicing, hence i ended up at clifford.

of course i am nt doubting clifford, reason being i am rather fortunate not to encounter major hiccups like this one. hence explaining the inexperience on pricing, etc.

gd thing is clifford did test ride also, boosting my confidence after handing over b to me.

Today I just bought year 96 steed~

this is my first cruiser bike…

previous bike are zrx1200… the ride style are totally different…

 

how to know my steed are vlx or VSE?

 

My front suspension and rear absorber are gone…

My Malaysia Mech ask me to find parts in Singapore…

How much for the oil seal ,dust seal for front suspension?

How much for the rear absorber for new or used?

 

My steed still need to repair lots of minor thing…lucky the engine sound good and solid...

Front fork seals around the same price as super 4, say abt 100+ with labour, rear shock abt 600 brand new. If u want i hv a used one still useable and spring also stiffer Cos i added a spacer.
