Btw, for those who nv try before, to close out our Steed fuel cap aft topping petrol, just put the fuel cap back on the tank and then use your thumbs to press down both side of the fuel cap without touching the key. The fuel cap will self lock and the key will turn back on its own. No need to turn the key to close.

I saw some ppl turning the key back when locking the fuel cap.

I saw the STP brand fuel jet power for sale in NTUC, Carrefour etc. ..something about jet fuel to mix into your tank. I think it is for cars, but the instruction just say mix into your tank. nv say car or bike but got ratio to mix it.

Anyone try before?

Ya, but not in my VLX, didnt feel much of a diff thou. But do becareful of the mixing ratio.

Eh, unless the spring mechanism is faulty, otherwise, just push it back shld suffice.

Don't waste money on these additives. Put mothballs and try it out. No kidding. But don't put too much. Just 2 balls. :thumb:

Yes, I use a car jack.. There's a spot under the exhaust for you to place it..

As far as I know, mothball isn't a good idea..

I have tried mothballs in my car and even my wife feels the difference. I use them in my bikes too. But don't every tank oso use them. Use once in every 5 tanks or so.

Good info. But it does works. Up to individual who dares to try. No offence thou. :cheeky:

so basically if it's made from naphthalene it's fine. but if it's made from dichlorobenzene it's not safe.

how fast can it get, does changing to lesser sprockets help too? correct me if i'm wrong additives are used to make the bike accelerate faster. sprocketing is used to allow the bike to cruise at higher speeds given same throttling and same gear. correct?

Wrong..

As for gearing, if u lower it better pickup but you'll lose top end and vice versa.. So have to find the right balance to suite your riding style..

I need some advice on the 'rear brake shoe'! I hear a squeaky sound 'eeeeeeeeeee' when I apply rear brakes when stopping.

Just had it 'serviced' this morning. the mech just 'modified' my rear brake shoes by craving out a criss-cross pattern to better the grip. Still have abit of that sound thou.

Is this because my rear shoes are lousy? Any steed bros have good recommendation on a brand & price?

Thank loads!

It's not the brakepads. It's common for old steeds to SING loudly wen applying back brakes, esp early early morning morning wen u 1st ride off.. but the sound will disappear after u ride awhile. the only way to solve the problem, buy NEW rear RIM/ drum. No safety issues tho (braking still ok), just embarassing ones wen u approach redlight. And after the criss cross on your brakes wear out, the sound will still come back.

Crap.. ALL Steeds have squeaky rear brakes?? Isn't there a 'premium brake shoe' to get?

I looked inside my rear drum, and it looks perfectly clean and fine. I wouldn't think it's the reason for the squeaks.

Something I learn frm my dad, when the rear drum brakes have just been serviced/tighten/changed, because of the new surface against surface, "squeaks" are inevitable. It'll go away after sometime.

No need for alarm for a slight squeaking noise. Anyway, it goes away after a short while.
