How does a STeed's pick up, gears 1,2,3 compare against Super 4 Ver S?

I know top speed & above 100kmh performance sure lose.

I am concern about the 0-60kmh acceleration.

I seriously don't think VerS will lose to Steed in terms of pickup. Ai race mai? :cheeky:

eh... its like comparing an apple to an orange, imo.

Why u may asks, cos, just comparing the engines, an in-line 4 vs a V twin.

A whole lotsa difference in output & performance liao.

Also, a cruiser vs a street bike, have to consider weight ratio & other etcs too.

Much less to say top speed.

For a cruiser, you have to truly appreciate it to enjoy the ride.

Its either you love it, or, hate it. ;)

For decision, its best you can try one before committing?

hi, realised that my orginal tool box does not include item 5 and 16,

got a couple of qns.

a) is 5 used for the spark plug on the front left?

b) 16 is used for which part of the bike?

Those are closed wrench spanners, or ring spanners, for the bolts that on your bike, i.e. near the rider foot peg mount, or, a useful extension to wrung No. 4 part, if Im not wrong.

Eh, that time I did servicing @ Planet's, no hassle of changing the plugs, they've got the tools to extract the plug.

Or most trustable bike shop does. :thumb:

He says around 250 - 300. got some re fibre to do too, 2 parts i guess. Is tat ok?

Everything done, my whole bike is sprayed, tank, fenders, frame, and the front cover. As the old paint job was total black, headlight, signal light, etc, everything black, so ROSLI helped me to remove some old paint to make it chrom again. He also helped me to polish some parts of my bike like wheels, gear box, those chrome parts, VERY SHINY!:thumb:

ROSLI also mention some welding was done to my tank, and my fender was refibre due to cracks.

However, I believe in the process of cleaning up ROSLI scratch my tank a little (the paint job guy says that), so I have to go back to the paint shop to polish (FREE). But still left with one minor scratch.

End of day paid $485, for the following:

- paint job - $280

- refibre - $60

- Brake shoe - $25

- Frame spray & labour - $80

- Welding - $40

As mention in the previous thread, he qouted me refibre, tank repair, paint job, 250-300. :) Jus sharing my experience.

Addition info, from the paint job shop, they do offer polishing of bike at 50-80 bucks. VS motorshop if i dun remember wrongly. :)

Will post some pictures soon.

For drag bars they are usually about 75-80cm wide. Chong aik has them at $26+. Risers you ned at least 3.5 inches tall,4inches would be good. Any lower you controls will hit the tank.

Riding with covered shoes would help bro.

Just called Chong Aik, they say they not coming in any more riser and drag bars for steed, sad.... any1 have any idea where else to get?

Anyone heard of forward control relocation kit? Any1 know where to get?

THANKS!

Just bought my Steed VSE today... :box:

Everything was stock except the exhaust kena 'de-silenced'... Niwei rushed down to Chong Aik to get me the handlebars and they still have the Daytona ones. Bought the one that didn't require any cable changes.. Installed myself at the MSCP but throttle cable ended up a bit tight so I rerouted it. Still a bit tight when turn handle left but idling still ok... Also installed my highway shifters used for my 'ol steed from 2 YEARS AGO... Thank GOD didn't sell them away when sold my 'ol VSE...If got money maybe send for respray in the near future cos thinking of one more mod in the rear....heeee :cheeky:

And gotta get rid of the box....But still useful for now...

I think you shld re-route the throttle cables behind the forks instead inbetween. Shld give you more clearance.

Servicing and lowering the rear suspension and got some ideas to consider bobbing the rear fender without cutting the main frame (still at experimental stage)...Will update and upload pics if it's possible and ready... heeee

Niwei I re-routed the throttle cables between the forks but behind the frame area instead of around it.. Doesn't look nice if it doesn't go through the forks lah....Thx for the advice Kev's...Niwei, I'm the one who bought the s4 engine guards from you at Jurong and the bike's already sold, with the guards...

They don't bring in anymore but they still have old stock....You must go down to 50 desker road, ask for the Daytona catalogue, look for the handlebar page, see what you like and qoute the item number. I bought mine y'day and they still have the Medium (what I'm using for my bike, be careful one type is slightly wider than the other) and High ones (no budget to change ALL my cables) and each costs $60 only, compared to the Harley ones going for $220 at the Bikeyard..If you don't want Daytona, then Harley bars are the way to go but must get 1" width else must change your clamps as well... Niwei, If you want bars that can touch the sky then Chong Aik and Harley won't have... :cheeky: Good luck! And saw some Drag Bars at Chong Aik too! Those look like the ones mounted direct without using the clamps..

Forward controls? Bought mine abt $500 from US 2 yrs back. Chong Aik has them in the same catalogue but dunno they have stock..All else fails, go to sengkwang and custom make one like I've seen done on some shadows. The Daytona catalogue got some INTERESTING things available at Chong Aik (chrome stuff) so must have discipline and try not to overspend (which was DAMN difficult to do). :faint:

Well, what a small world!

heheh.. & I still hv yr old Steed pics in my thumbdrive! :D

The rim has been sold to one fella who retro-fit onto a VSE, that has been just sold off recently.

Sadly, my VLX has been touring overseas now...

Eh, well, as for the lowering of the suspension, gota look for aftermarket overseas.

Check this out: Rear shock lowering kit

Otherwise, maybe look for Xiled?

wah.. modding scene is getting livelier eh... hahah.. lowering the rear... i'm unsure which shaft you are refering to.. but try not to tamper with the spring , infact.. all mods to the shocks are not really recommended.. the angmos they cut the spring and stuffs like that... its not that its not safe.. its jus that u cant find a workshop in sg experienced and competent enough to do a proper job for u. i cannot say that i know about all the stress points in a bike.. but i do know for sure thats one spot with some serious stresses involved so keeping the integrity of it is impt..

as for lowering of steed.. the easiest way to do it is go hardtail... then fix a spring seat to cushion up your ride.. btu if u like something more modern looking.. then this will not suit your taste..

Posted

No not cutting the spring, just the shaft of the shock.. I don't think it will affect safety tho, just less suspension travel.. I did a few car shock absorber stuff at Fong Kim and they did quite a good job. It's just that I'm not sure if they are keen if I do my bike stuff there..

The other way is to go to a machinist and do a copy of the lowering kit. As for hard tail for Steed it's pretty easy.. Just a 1 inch square tubing and booking of appointment with bac specialist at your fav hospital will do..
