I was having a discussion with one of my colleague who is riding a SP. He told me that SP can out race S4 anytime  . I have heard of such thing before and I really find it hard to believe. If it is really so, why are there so many people buying a 400cc bike or S4 for that matter:sian: . but I guess I have to give it the benefit of doubt.o_O

Assuming that SP or other smaller bike can out race or neck and neck with S4 (all stock) going at high speed .

I have the following questions :

1. Is it engine built for high speed (to go as fast as 400cc bike) ?

2. is it stressing the engine compare to S4 ?

3. At what rev must it hit to be on the same speed as S4 assuming speed of 180kmh?

4. Can it do 180kmh everytime easily compare to S4 say 5 times a day, every day?

5. What damage are they doing to their bike ?:dot:

These are just some of my queries, it might sound silly, I have never hit such high speed before and I don't think I ever would. but I am just damm curious

Any expert or old bird of 400cc class bike out there can give me a answer :thumb:

1. Is it engine built for high speed (to go as fast as 400cc bike) ?

different bike have different characteristics. SP is more for race use. kups for city riding, scooters for leisure riding. even the bike can go high speed, is it suitable to maintain it at that speed?

2. is it stressing the engine compare to S4 ?

a fazer 600 n a S4 both at the speed of 180km/h, which bike's engine have more stress?

3. At what rev must it hit to be on the same speed as S4 assuming speed of 180kmh?

different bike have different rev limit. not forgetting the speedo error. so its hard to tell at which rev will hit wat speed.

4. Can it do 180kmh everytime easily compare to S4 say 5 times a day, every day?

no comments.

5. What damage are they doing to their bike ?

stressing the bike, wat damage do u think they had caused the bike to have?

There might be some truths in it.

SP register 39bhp on stock form. And most SP had been modified

to whatsoever,bigger jet,carb,no air filter,high speed bearing...etc

So it is safe to assume they have much high bhp than stock form...And they are much lighter that a Super 4 170kg dry weight? S4 Wet weight might be in the region of near to 200kg. Remember S4 can hold 2-3 times more EO,Coolant and petrol compare to a SP.

As a 2-stroker, the engine must be rebuilt at a certain interval. You seldom heard people overhauling a bigger 4 stroke engine whereby 2 stroker is a norm. By dragging the engine, you hasten the engine rebuilt time interval.

Most upper Class riders dont really bother about challengers from a lower class bike. But most young lower class riders likes to challenge upper class bikes...

Then they come to a conclusion that they can beat upper class

bikes by just out run them on the e'way or moto gp traffic light.

That when your friend have this kind of illusion. Which I say is good as he dont need to spend so much money on upgrading....

Super 4 can outrun a Sp by a small margin, you will still see SP in your mirror.

To name a few bikes faster than S4 with lower cc, RD350, LC350, mostly all 2stroke 250s (PGM4,3, RGV250, RS250, heck even think the old TZ250 can outrun an S4), SDR200(if u still can find one) but NSR150 or KR not sure lah maybe heavily modded can....

Well people say SP can outrun S4, but base on experiences at second link, maybe in the corners but on a straight line I dont think so leh, I have also heard of people saying S4 with full system and jet kit can outrun 600cc bike, i also dont think so leh. So whats next? RVF can outrun 1000cc bike??

SP cannot outrun S4 .. dun waste time thinking about it... SP got meter error one... think you run 180km/h ? Actually clocked by bigger bike 150km/h only..SP stability is not there when riding at high speeds.. damm dangerous and the engine damm rough like the piston going to jam soon ...

Acceleration power is not important than a good perfect braking system to prevent an accident.

maybe S4 is a street bike and SP is a sports bike. Ive been out-ride by smaller sports bike and many cubs but i dun give a damn because at the end of the day i want to reach my destinations safely.

think the bike only got the body, engine and 2 wheels only... the rest of the things all take out... and the rider is damm thin one.. like 40kg only.. haha :cheeky: and the last thing the meter cable spoil one...haha

I ever got disturbed/"jio" by a SP before.

I was on the first lane, he was coming from my left.

Didn't notice him til he was almost beside me, he clutched and rev loudly a few times.

I didn't bother about him, worried about losing my classes of licenses in SG.

Just thinking, could it because he thought my bike was a TZM? :sian:

Slow down abit, smell the air and enjoy the scenery.

SP 2 stroke engine, every stroke is power stroke, Super 4, 4 stroke engine, only one power stroke in a cycle. How to compare?..Different engine?. From what i learn 2 stroke engine produce more power(Some big ships are using it)but fuel efficiency is bad plus if the engine needs 2t oil, abit pollution compared to 4 stroke engines.

ships can't possibiliy use 2 stroke engine cos diesel engines dun have 2 stroke engine to my best knowledge. n with 2 stroke engine, they need tons of 2Ts n require more maintenance compared to 4 stroke engine.

the displacements says it all....

150cc engine vs 400cc engine...

no way an sp can outrun an s4

any sp riders who thinks they did, they shud just think that the s4 rider wasn't pushing his s4 to the limit yet....

and having owned sp and riding s4 myself i shud know...

riding sp past 120km/h and can feel like the bike gonna tear open...

and even the speedo isn't accurate....

for pickup wise,i say there's a possiblity but at the end,no way an sp can outrun the s4.

both i ride and try before... if ppl say SP can outrun a S4 i believe.. but the Sp must have some mod... in short burst racing... 2 stroke have advantage on this... but for playing a long run.. i think S4 will win the race.... wat i can say is, the rider is the main point...

is true tat s4 rider never push to the limit and will lose the race...but i ever see before a sp outrun a s4 at the lim chu kang there... some ppl call there the 40 lamp post there sure can try top speed...but the sp must be heavily mod like big carb, fast throttle, chamber pipe, ported engine etc... sprocket setting play a part too.. i ever clock 220km/h on my sp.. though sp meter not accurate.. i clock again with my frenz riding R6 my top speed is ard 195km/h =)

Some ships does use 2 stroke diesel engines and they dont even need to use 2t. The engine design makes it possible to not to use 2t.

Here is more about 2 stroke diesel engines:

How long you need to reach 195km/h and you can maintain for how long ?

i took how long ar??? hmmx donno how to say hmmx.. base on the 40 lamppost took abt 25-28 lamp poles distance... the rest just maintain the the finish 40 pole there.. in the kind of race sp will win this type of race... but 2stroke bike wear and tear is too big already... if continue play for abt 6-8rd non stop... the sp will give way and s4 will win... due to compression drop... wan play distance with s4, s4 sure win... to conclude s4 engine is a tough engine and sp vibration at high speed is too much.. hand will numb etc.. to me i prefer s4 for riding .. =)
