Illegal Assembly. And then if the police just follow them for a while can find fault for inconsiderate riding. I believe the reason for all these strict rules on modifications and tinted helmet are to prevent motorsiaos from returning. Rainbow visor get fine. Exhaust mod get fine. 2 stroke smoke visible also get fine. See how they target the motorsiao and mat rempits favourites?

Groups bigger than 3 people = illegal assembly, that means if you're with 3 friends, its can be considered an illegal assembly and you don't even need helmets with design. Inconsiderate riding not under jurisdiction of normal police, Traffic police only and they are very visible unless they are those plainclothes.

The actual reason for strict rules is $$$, I don't see any other reason because they say tinted impair visibility, so do sunglasses then, modifications due to emissions and noise pollution but I don't see them clamping down on polluting SUVs and noisy lambos, maseratis and ferraris.

LTA screws almost everyone not just motosiao besides, I'd worry more about the govt than motosiaos, motosiaos don't steal my money on a daily basis.

Wow this thread brings back those wonderful nostalgic memories.

During my time, if I remember correctly; Winter Fire (Yi Ba Huo) and Yamaha Pirate were the two motosiao groups which had cultural integration a.k.a they had Malay members as well. I recalled one night, me on an RD and another fellow Malay bro on MBX; we both were part of a popular and notorious Malay Mat-Motor group then (extremely popular with SSB and TP) were riding with estimated about 40 or so motosiaos from Winter Fire who were our allies en-route to Changi which was the racing track back then in the early 90's.

It was early morning, then suddenly a group of 6 TP Tiger Squad backed up with a few TP Fast Response Cars intercepted us and forced us to the side of the road. Me and my friend on the MBX were immediately asked to go off as they thought "how could these two Malay mat motors be involved in this?" It was reverse racism, something that was very, very rare back then. Although we were relieved and somewhat confused to be let off (our bikes were illegally moded too, mine had a chamber pipe whilst my friend was using a Sugaya pipe) Our hearts did went out to our motosiao bros, they were genuinely nice chaps. Both of us did proceed to our destination but the mood was already spoilt.

All that is gold does not glitter, Not all who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken: The crownless again shall be king.

If Wild Hogs was screened during that time, I can imagine the area around the palm trees to be filled with bikes.

Hey guys, sry to bring back an old old thread.

I am doing a Singapore documentary on the motorsiao of the 1980s and 1990s. I would love to put your stories inside to recreate a recollection of that era where racers from different teams congregated every weekend to "test" their bikes against each other on the streets with thousands of spectators. Afaik no one did such a docu before, I don't think motorsiao culture in Singapore in the 80s is even mentioned in textbooks. My goal is to bring that story to the masses.

I am looking for people who have stories and experiences to share. If you do, you can call me at 88286545. My name is Kan.

Also, I will eventually need racers and a fleet of 1980s bikes for filming purposes. You can contact me if interested to appear on the show.

I also posted same announcement on a few facebook groups so it's the same me LOL

Thanks guys

That would be a really really interesting documentary Kan! Look forward to it and wishing you all the best in your endeavours!

Back then, I was only in lower-sec, so no bike license (not that my parents would allow it anyway!), but remember older friends/cousins who had that "wang tian" look to their motorbikes, helmets pushed all the way down so they had to squint through their visors, and knew then that I would be a future biker for sure! I guess they were the Hell's Angels of local culture.

Gonna be hard pressed to find any 80s bikes around these days. COE yo....

Recall back to 1983, I also has been around with this motor xia...... But I don't join them......usually gathering will be ar fir or sat for midnight show....famous cinema is prince at shaw beach road...

Remember at the car park is flooded with bike modify exhaust Rxk, Rxs , LC125.... But that time I was riding a yamaha RD350 at the time was the champion of all .

U can see TP come up to the car park check for rider for insurance cover and all sort of rubbish....

When in the cinema u can see they display their gang helmets at the stage...during the era famous gang are....Ninja, roman, german etc.

When show end u can see all rider ready to set off to east coast highway to changi point and some to lim chu kang.....but at the entrance or Shelton way traffic light u will see at least 4 to 5 TP bike waiting....during That time our TP bike is suzuki gs 550 and yamaha xv550.

Those were the memory which now u can even see more than 10 bike unless uttered is Malay wedding....

Those day u can count at least 50!and above for gathering and gang vs gang top bike for racing.

FYI,
