DIY ... Do it yourself should be the fastest way since the bike you are buying its being fully paid. Go buy the insurance first after that then go do the transfer of ownership at LTA, all can be done in a single day.

I bought my insurance fm AXA at Upper thomson, then straight away meet seller at LTA which is nearby.. less than half an hour of waiting at each place..

in my case, buyer view bike at nite ard 9pm, confirm deal over phone by 11pm... next morning he went to make insurance somewhere near lta then we meet lta counter at 8.30am. transfer done within 10min. then we both rushed off to work.

the whole process from viewing bike to transfer took 12hours.

as mentioned, doing it yourself is definitedly the fastest way.

but if seller is gonna release the bike on a specific date in time to come... then maybe can let your bike shop do the insurance and transfer for you at a small fee..

no need go to LTA at all...

Normally bike shop does it for a fee of about $20 or $30. That's what I paid when I bought my last 2 bikes.

But its just that when you do it yourself, you need to find out which Insurance is the cheapest, which can be troublesome. The shop does that better.

yah lah... they also running business wot... let them earn some bucks lah.

if the person paying full cash 3-5k for a bike.. that 20 bucks shouldnt matter too much..

else it'll be a case of penny wise pound foolish.

2 cents.
