Movie Review On 'The Da Vinci Code'

'The Da Vinci Code' movie based on the novel by Dan Brown and starring Tom Hanks, is reminiscent of the movie 'National Treasure' which stars Nicholas Cage but with different subject matters. Where 'National Treasure' deals with worldly treasures, 'The Da Vinci Code' deals with theories regarding the Christian religion. Just as how Muslims around the world were outraged with Salman Rusdie's 'The Satanic Verse' which blasphemously depicts the Prophet Muhammad having sexual trysts, 'The Da Vinci Code' explores the theory that Jesus Christ married his female follower, Mary Magdelene, and even had a child with her. No wonder Christians around the world are outraged. The conspiracy theories presented in the movie sound logical should they be viewed objectively by free thinkers or practitioners of different faiths but when it comes to Christians, any doubt in the faith would make them infidels. It is such a sensitive issue that I dare not comment or delve too much on the subject matter of this movie. However, if minus the religious essence, 'The Da Vinci Code' is an intellectual and a thinking man's movie as the puzzles fit nicely together when Tom Hanks solves them. I loved it... :thumb:

Yup, Ian McKellen is a bona fide actor and in a class of his own. Can't wait to see him in action as Magneto once again in X-Men 3 : The Last Stand... :cheer:

Judging from the various trailers that I have see, I don't think it will disappoint. The first two movies didn't disappoint me at all... :thumb:

So looks like Bryan Singer shouldn't have handed it over to someone else...

My friend who is doing Film and Media warned me it wouldn't be the same after Bryan left.

Prior to the movie, I did not read the book or watch the documentaries on The Da Vinci Code on CNA but I can still understand the movie. Only started to watch the documentaries and read the articles on The Da Vinci Code after watching the movie cos the conspiracy theories regarding it, intrigue me...

didnt like the choreography. it's like a wham bam action movie. they way they did phoenix and her on screen was kinda bad (phoenix fan here). could be the fact that im used to singer's style but ratner kinda down it. kitty and colossus were mediocre. mystique was the sexpot but didnt last enough minutes. it's basically a wolverine show. they did get storm's hair right. i sense some wolvey stormie lovey chemistry, finds it gross, or is it just me? magneto was charming, no, ian mckellen charms in almost every shows. he actually got me believing he is the cure. bah. i think it was a show made for wolverine fan. it's part 3 of the trilogy, gawd, spectaculate me pls.

Movie Review On 'Hostel'

For those backpackers to a foreign land, be wary of the company you keep because you'll never know what lies in the minds of strangers. Two guys, out on a sexcursion to Slovania learnt this the hard, painful and torturous way. This movie, supposedly inspired by true events, is full of blood and gore halfway into the story. It never ceases to amaze me on how the perverse human minds work that people could actually play butcher to another human being, without a hint of guilt or conscience. It is kind of horrific and depressing to see kids around 8 to 10 years old, using rocks to bash people's heads in just for a reward of a plastic full of sweets. Another good, gory movie from Lions Gate Films, the same company that brought you 'Saw' and 'Saw 2'. A movie not for the faint at heart though... :thumb:
