I've watched a few good and so-so movies these past few days but dunno why feel so to write reviews...

In our modern world where technology is advanced, it seems that reality TV has become our staple entertainment diet. Just look at all the reality programmes available out there. Viewers are simply voyeuristically hooked on the action 'live' and unscripted. This is especially true in the movie, 'The Condemned' starring WWE superstar, Stone Cold Steve Austin.

 

A TV producer hits on the idea of having a reality programme where 10 death row inmates are put on a desolated island and they have to terminate one another until one sole survivor is left. Apparently, he was able to procure the inmates he wanted from a corrupt Central American prison.

 

If you think that the plot sounds familiar, you are not mistaken. Remember the Japanese movie, 'Battle Royale'? One obvious similarity is the explosive device tagged to the participants of this game of death. The difference is that in 'Battle Royale', the explosives are tagged to the neck whilst in 'The Condemned', the device is tagged to the inmates' ankles. With a flick of a switch, the inmates could kill their opponent once they are able to get close enough.

 

Anyways, in order to reach out to a wider audience, the violent, real live action, deadly programme is televised on the Internet at a price rather than on television. Stone Cold Steve Austin fits into his role of a condemned soldier, Jack Conrad, like a glove. The action and fighting scenes are fast and furious as he went about surviving with a scowl on his face.

 

This movie is entertaining in my opinion. Better than John Cena's, 'The Marine' or Kane's, 'See No Evil'. With a decent storyline and natural acting by Austin (it shouldn't be hard for him since he's playing the same wrestling persona), this movie is not only catered for wrestling fans. Do watch it...

In today's modern world of sophisticated gadgetry where people are assassinated by means of explosions, a bullet from a long distance rifle, etc, it is interesting to note that a triad boss chose the juvenile way out to kill a witness that saw him kill someone in cold blood.

 

Like a mischievious schoolboy who puts a spider or a lizard into his teacher's or classmates bag, triad boss, Chen Leong, puts huge and poisonous snakes in the cargo area of the plane where the witness is in, under protective custody of FBI agent, Neville Flynn played by Samuel L. Jackson.

 

The title of this movie could not be more apt. The audience will be kept to the edge of their seats by this suspenseful movie, courtesy of the snakes. The CGI of the snakes are fantastic and even though you know that the snakes are not real, that does not spoil the heart thumping thrill that you will experience each and every time the snakes attack. The suspense factor is played to the hilt and with this movie, you will get an intense wild ride with those snakes on a plane...
