A proper training to train newbies rather than the newbies training newbies.. Good job 5th Rider on making things happen.

I have been reading this forums for quite a while before i decided to register and contribute to the site. Though i myself am not a fast rider myself after been out of action for a couple years due to studies overseas, I am sadden on how many people that just because someone looks fast or seems fast on photos, that means he/she is fast.

It is always better to have proper training right from the start, as learning the wrong techniques and having to change later will prove to be very hard to do so(habits are hard to change). Even motogp riders cant change their habits/style as and when they want (colin edwards).

Therefore i urge you guys who are new to track riding to take up the proper training. It will definitely benefit you in future.

My two cents worth...

Cheers

Just came back from this racing school today. To let everyone know, I sign with doubts about gaining from this racing school, but wat the hack, it too much to pay for apart from the track fees. So i gave it a try. I only know 5thrider was a damn fast guy and had learn under local and foreign talents. But sometimes those who can ride well may not be able to teach well.

From the briefing he gave in singapore, it had already unmask one big mistake i made in the process of learning, that is the preparation sequence to enter corner. I have to say that 4 hours spent there wasn't really enough to unlearn mistakes and really bring you to next level with firm established lap times. But it sure let u see a very very clear directions on which way to head in future learning. Afterall, this isn't a training camp, else it won't be so cheap. I took 2hrs track sessions before the training day itself to work on the mistakes after that brief in singapore and indeed, the correction was a awkward and painful one as i was 4 secs slower while doing the correction, but the 2nd hour of correction i start to realise its big advantage, that is my arms won't be so tired. In exchange, i have better control over braking and throttle control.

On the training day itself, damn, we rode 2 hours in the rain! Cant expect to push like during dry weather, but then my lines and turning points were corrected. Wasn't easy but 5thrider took effort to lead me to a more correct line, and then explain the differences between the different possible lines. I was 5secs quicker at the end of the day. And mind, its the wet weather. 5 secs was hell alot, not forgetting how hard to ride faster in the rain.

It came to me as an impression many riders may resist his teachings as some basics already became so natural that its so hard to unlearn, and we gotta sacrifices our lap time in the process of unlearning. Some may think we got no talents locally and trust more in overseas instructors. What i have seen for myself, that this class can easily be more focused on you and 5thrider certainly has got wat it takes to teach the new generations to be future racers.

Hi there,

Its great to hear that you managed to learn from the proper people who really knows track riding / racing. From my experience, i believe 5th rider is more than willing and qualified to teach anyone who is serious about track riding.

It is true that those who are fast may not be able to teach well, but please do not go looking for those will looks like they ride fast and ask for advice from them, as they may be or should i say, definitely not the right persons to go to look for advice.

My personally opinion is that the blind cannot lead the blind, and once bad habits are formed thru improper advice, it is very hard to relearn.

cheers

hey, i think while waiting for the next course, you probably can work out something on urself. You at least can eliminate those unnecessary worries you had. Especially the tyres. Supercorsa are very good tyres and you have been using the correct tyre pressure. Why worry where currently u aren't even utilising half of wat the tyres are capable of? You gotta prepare yourself mentally for this lesson, else, you don't get to utilise the time well.

don't understand.... so u already got over those unnecessary worries? Anyway, it'll sure do you good. Better than those racing schools as this is at most a 1 to 3 kinda coaching.... very focus on u. I would love to go again if my pocket and time allow.

unnecessary worries? i believe when it comes to this sport.. money is an important factor, which is where the worries comes from.

i do agree that when it comes to this sport, its very draining on the money. However, i think wat red R1 meant was the worries about crashing and not using the right techniques. Once the right techniques are learnt and apply, the fear of crashing altho is still there, however, the chances are quite minimally. i would not say you wont crash, but you will know when you are going to crash, or rather what causes the crash.

in my opinion, all interests or hobbies drain money. those who play with R/C cars uses alot of money as well( i play that too). ppl who collect stamps needs money as well to get those exotic stamps from around the world.

Racing or track riding may seem to use up a lot of money(actually, they do), but nothing beats the feeling of knowing you can lap around the track fast and discovering you and your bikes limits.

to me, Taking turn 2 in pg at close to 200kmh with your sliders sliding along the rumble strips is better than sex!! hahah

happy tracking!

i used to race 1/8 track cars and 1/10 electric, nitro cars as well.. it's true that it's expensive but you don't bruise your confidence or anything close to crashing your motorcycle.

believe everyone has equal share on this worry. but wat I mean was not to give too big part of ur mind on this worry. I always see things have 2 sides. Tonics may be good but too much cause harm, vice versa, some herbs are poisonous but corrrect amount serves as antidote. I just want to let u know that at times when we worry too much, it cause us to panick over some little situations which may arise on track and end up crashing instead. Cause few occasions that i didn't panick ended up saving myself from crashing. Did damn my confidence for a few laps. enjoy, i serious hope u gain back ur confidence and improve... u have my blessing....

Also is there a better conering position which wont make your hands so tired....

As of now i also corner with groin on tank and i hook my arms around on the tank while knee down cornering...

Any good suggestions...or advice from your professional training....
