can give directions from 2nd link to woodlands?

thanks.

1. After M'sia toll go all the way straight and EXIT to Johor Bahru..

2. From there on STRAIGHT again (remember to always follow Johor Bahru signage at NSHW).

3. Will bypass another M'sia toll (free for bikes at utmost left side) and again STRAIGHT all the way..

4. At end of Highway, follow signage to Pusat Bandaraya (if not mistaken its straight all the way) and it will lead you all the way back to the JB customs heading to Woodlands.

Just to add, for (#2), the Malaysian road authorities have improved the flyovers there so keep your eyes peeled for the "Singapura" sign

Yep, they did massive improvements to the town of Perling.

What used to be a messy haphazard construction detour and a bunch of dangerous traffic junctions is now a nice so-called "Pasir Gudang Interchange" complete with orderly flyovers and such...

And the exit to "Singapura/Woodlands" (i think that's what the signage says) is quite ambiguous and small...so keep ya eyes on the signs ;)

I'm going in tonite to make a "crossover".

It'll either be first to 2nd link, or vice versa.

Anyone interested?

Wow, where's your kampung at?

We bikers usually don't frequent the surburbs...

We only take the main roads and expressways and pass by known places like Gelang Patah, Perling, JB city centre, and even as far as Kulai for nightly trips where there's eateries there for us to makan.

Well, I go every fortnight, if not weekly, so if you're going, do give me a buzz :p

Some important things to remember when travelling from 2nd link and exiting from woodlands checkpoint :

1. Passport

2. Cash card

3. At least 15 ringgit. (toll fee RM1.60, top up petrol RM10.00)

4. Licence, Insurance and Road Tax (Fine for no mentioned doc: RM100)

5. Follow all signage leading to woodland.

6. Slow down when you going up the flyover after the 2nd toll booth. The bend there is very very sharp and oso very sandy. Previous trip 2 bikes nearly went down.

7. Slow down when about to reach Ah Gua lane cos there is roadblock. (Thats where my friend got fine RM100 for no road tax)

8. Avoid going in on your own (Dangerous as there are robbers along the way. Friend got tailed the last time we went in)

9. Other than all the above, think you should be ok. Enjoy your ride.

Lastly, PLEASE RIDE WITH CARE. GOD bless us all.

Good tips you have there. Maybe new riders can use this as a checklist of items to remember before embarking on a trip to JB.

Let me add some comments and advisories to some of your items :)

3. At least 15 ringgit. (toll fee RM1.60, top up petrol RM10.00)

I spent a little bit more on petrol since I travelled 30+ km just to do a 2nd >> 1st link "crossover" last night. Brought in RM30, topped up 20+ at 2nd link, and when I arrived at crowded first link, it was another RM7+ for the petrol wasted. Oh and you're right, when you plan to use 2nd link pretty late @ night, remember to bring your cashcard (or pay SG toll by NETS) and always bring in some Ringgit cash. Don't wanna be stranded w/o cash.

4. Licence, Insurance and Road Tax (Fine for no mentioned doc: RM100)

With the exception of insurance and license, I wonder why the JB authorities have to care about our Road Tax. We only pay road tax to Singapore. o_O

5. Follow all signage leading to woodland.

Yep. Applicable if you're travelling to 1st link. Keep your eyes peeled on the signboards because the flyovers to turn back to Woodlands are a bit confusing, now that MY has upgraded the roads of Perling town

7. Slow down when about to reach Ah Gua lane cos there is roadblock. (Thats where my friend got fine RM100 for no road tax)

Again, why are they asking for his road tax? Must be kopi money for these cheapos

8. Avoid going in on your own (Dangerous as there are robbers along the way. Friend got tailed the last time we went in)

Depends on when you enter. What time did your friend go in?

==========

Yesterday, I reached the Malaysian customs at 3am. As there was only one car lane opened to cater for bikes, the tailback was terrible. Queued and pushed for an hour. Left at 4am.
