multimedia speakers..

hi i was thinking of getting a set of multimedia speakers for my comp. juz wondering are they good enuff for movies? saw a few quite powerful leh... from ALTEC LANSING... and saw the HARMAN KARDON sound stick also damm cool..all comes with woofer. so i juz need to ask for opinions..are they good enuff ... or should i juz save-up and get a home theatre system instead?

what kind of set up are u looking for, 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1? If 2.1, den altec lansing ATP3 will be good enuff if not rather good set for a 2.1 speakers.

ATP3 good enough for a room ....... I had tat b4.... but changed to Altec Lansing 4.1 .. 4100... SOLID AH>.... can hold party liao... hahahha

 

Eh...... one thing bout speakers.... altec is good.... cos their main business is made HIFI in states......

 

Had a creative 5700 before... but.... Sold off le.... not quite up to mark!

yeah man....mine oso 4.1.....got thx & dolby digital....but the subwoofer very big lah... like the size of laser jet printer....lol....

i have been using Altec Lansing 2.1 for hmm 7 years? and the speaker still working good good enough for anything in my small room . hope to upgrade to more speakers hehe , any recommendation for altec lansing ? 5.1 ? 6.1? or more?

got 5 set of Labtec 2.1 speaker at home... all still in box. who wan?

the ATP3 in my room serves me for about 7 years liao. still doing okay.

 

for watching movies, sound is one factor.

the more important factor is the resolution of your monitor.

eg. 19'' LCD with a contrast ration of 800:1 or higher ... best.

I currently using the Altec Lancing ACS33. Still werks but no more in the market liao. Obsolete. Hmmm.. Technology so fast...no use chasing them....

ACS33 came out around the same time as ATP3.

 

2.1 system with 2 small satelite speakers.

 

 

anyway, i saw ATP3 going for $70 at courts jurong point.

few days ago i bought a new casing at Simlim.brought my current one along and asked the guy to transfer everything over.when i took it home an turned on my pc,all seem ok but found out there's no sound coming out from my Altec lansing speakers! i plugged out n in all the wires.the 3 sockets behind are pink,green and blue.the one for the speakers is green.to no avail.called the shop n he told me to reinstall the driver for my motherboard.done dat but same prob.

Can anyone help?

test your altec on another player for eg. MP3 player or sth and test. OR

test your green pod on the back of your cpu casing with another speaker if this doesn't work bring it back to SIM LIM and DEMAND they do it for you FOC.

btw intro you to my 5.1 wives, they don't come cheap but I don't believe in saving that few hundred (not that much) for good music for my ears..they are considered average speakers for your info.hope to upgrade to 2 cinema speakers in future when i get older , will cost me at least 20k for speakers alone.
