hey guys, my sp broke down on the expressway, thank god my pillion and i were not injured at all. I was at the 1st lane and was going full throttle, when i close throttle to slow down, my backwheel locked and my bike skidded over a distance then came to a complete stop. Pushed my bike to rd shoulder then tried starting several times but was unable to. I know my engine gone liao. So wanted to ask if u guys know wad actually happened and how much roughly i need to get it fixed. Could it be that i suddenly close throttle then cause the engine to be damaged? And my fren say tat it might be piston jam

Full throttle and rear wheel locked? How fast were you going?

 

Most probably piston jam...

jammed piston... if u 'wasted' yr block den it will cost u s$320 for a new one... piston cheaper i tnk less then s$20...

mayb the CDI gone liao??

cannot ignite bike and account the valve intake?

 

How to check whether it's piston jam ah?

just kickstart the bike and look for the "Tick tick" sound rite :)

sigh, 2b bike always got this problem if didnt take care well..

Actually, for his case, it's just either one of these things:

 

1. Improper tuning of the "2T intake"

2. Not enough, or worse, empty 2T oil.

 

All other bike related problems, except these important above-mentioned 2, universally happen to all kinds of bikes.

thx guys for the replies... i went to HKL today .. Yes its confirmed PISTON JAM! **** man, they charge me 600bucks! change piston ,piston rings and BLOCK!!! wah lau, DAMN EX

Well, think about it though, the bigger or exotic the bike, the more expensive an engine overhaul job would be.

moral of the story: dont go so fast, and stay on the left lane! especially with a pillion! :cheeky:

 

anyways, $600 is ok, HKL prices are abit on the high side, but for workmanship, its worth it la. ;)

i had de same experience in '02-'03. jam at ard 190km/h. skidded for a long distance.

 

piston jam ya.

yup. it was scary. it skidded, rear wheel locked. den i clutched in, den can move. den i tried to release de clutch, den lock again.

den i clutched in den rolled to a stop on de shoulder. piston sieze. kick den can start, den carried on riding.

 

within 1 week, jam le...

its easy to jam if u dunoe wads goin on ..

 

do consider everything goin at max...high temp etc

u need sufficient lubricants flowing in the engine like 2t etc as its running MAX ya ?

 

so do know wad to do when whacking and how to whack ..
