Hi , could anyone tell what's the differences between inline 4 cylinder engine and v-twin engines??? Thank you.

Inline 4 - 4 cylinders, 4 spark plugs. arrange in row from left to right. Good for straight road acceleration, but low end torque loose to Vtwin.

Vtwin- 2 cyliner, 2 spark plugs, arrange in a V pattern. Good torque for corner but top end loose to inline 4.

Bandit 400 - Inline 4 engine

SV400 - Vtwin engine

Are you eyeing for the SV400 on garage sale now??

Hi pple,

I need some help :

I just return from oversea leaving the bike in the care or my non rider friend to just start it now and then. There is a serious problem after I return because I have totally "lost" the rear brakes. The pad are there but there seem to be no pressure when I tap the brake and also, no effect on the rear wheel at all. I checked the level of the brakes fluid which is current at LOW.

I like to know if anyone knows what is likely the problem, I am thinking of topping the fluid. My front brakes is almost gone too except that it still have a little effect on stopping.

Thank in advance!

Thanks!

Your brake fluid maybe old or rain water has seep into the brake reservoir and deterioate the brake fluid. Or the connecting joint are loose or hose worn off causing air leak into the brake system which cause the spongy effect and the brake unresponsive.

Try to change new brake fluid and bleed the brake first to see if it helps.

Try to solve the exhaust leak first and see if it help.

But I suspect it due to carburetion, your bike is running rich in the mid range causing excessive fuel not to burn properly. Try to pull your spark plugs and check if they are black and sooty.

Btw have you change your jet needle and check the condition of the needle jet(emulsion tube) because this 2 items affect your mid range.

Backfire has noithing to do with your starter motor. Starter motor is for the turnover of the engine when firing up the bike.

Changing the plug will not solve the problem if its carburetion problem. I believe your needle jet is worn, you are running rich in the mid range. If only the bandit400 jet needle is adjustable then you can lower the needle by 1 to 2 clips which will solve the problem temporary. Ask Ah Chong, planet, to check the needle jet, see if the hole has elongated.

The starter motor is just to turn the engine when starting up, after the engine start running the starter motor is like a 'white elephant' (CBL). In other words its not the starter motor problem.

Its not betrayal, I'm a bike lover and not bike racist. Infact I seldom go outing also. Most of the time I just meet the guys in the bandit forum for DIY and non bandit bike also comes to the DIY session.

My initial plan was to get a scoot, but the cost of maintenance is almost same as the super4 and super 4 is easier to DIY compare to scoot.
