Similarly, unless an insurance company could prove that a non-PSB helmet did not meet the specifications (no D-Ring) for example, the simple lack of a sticker would not disqualify the helmet because it would simply be missing.

Just curious ... is there any insurance policy or any stipulations on a requirement for D-Rings? Really unaware of this.

Cheers

Hm...has anyone's non-approved helmet in this tread been checked by TP on the street? How?

If yes, what happened then? Did they take it?

And, if u were involved into accident, did police checked ur helmet?

Life is short, live nacked!

Thats because the importer of the cheap helmet can afford to send a few helmets to be destroyed by PSB in their so called 'tests' to meet our specifications. Some more got to pay PSB for the 'tests' so that they can be awarded the 'world class' PSB sticker.

So do you really think this issue is about protection or money? Go figure.

Fine for wearing helmet of not approved type is $30. Last time I kena before.

Am willing to get fined once a month.. works out to $1 a day for my own protection.

How much is your head worth???

Its called capitalizing.

I don't agree. The one with stickers cost more because they have to be tested by some government board (sisir or psb); each model in each shipment gotta send something like 9 helmets for testing. the cost of the helmets sent for testing somehow must be covered by that shipment; so price of helmets with stickers are higher since need to absorb cost of test helmets. cheaper brands naturally financially better for shop to get stickers, and because of volume the price are better managed.

its not about getting spotted n stopped n fined...

its about (touch wood) getting involved in an accident n investigations showed u not wearing a PSB approved helmet then cannot claim insurance who suffer??

its not about how nice or ex the helmet is..its about how one value his/her head.

Try S$2000 BMW Carbon integral helmet. (Carbon fibre flip-up).

Not approved too. So its not as safe as the $30 open face with sticker.
