I use 95, but agree with rev, 92 is good enough. I have no idea about more or not more, I do 700-750km on a full tank in SG with 95 and thats enough to make me happy, never bothered to compare!

I use whatever. For practical reasons, because I have a smiles card now and pump in MY, I go to Esso cause it's easier for me.

But experience thought me that the talk you hear in SG about this petrol is better than this one and this brand is better is a load of BS. Especially applied to the Pulsar. For 4 months I pumped all and everything, from 91 to 98, all sorts of known and unknown brands, in popular and deserted petrol stations alike, and when I came back, all the mech could repeat while checking the engine inside out was "One wouldn't know this bike went touring".

Carburettor was perfect, fuel line and filter were clean and in top shape. Even the diaphragm didn't need to be changed..

So honestly, the debates about which petrol to pump are irrelevant in Singapore. Pick a brand that is convenient to you and that's it. Don't try to find out secret tips about petrol quality depending on brand because there are none ! Instead, consider the brand that gives the cheapest price, and the most discount :)

the diaphragm my friend, is ur one of ur bikes mortal enemy. its just a piece of rubber that costs $20 sitting at the top of ur carburetor that plays a part in controling the fuel mixture with the air and needs a replacement if this thing is spoilt, expanded, torn etc. if not then the riding experience would not be that pleasant.

Hey, do you know what that conical thing below the diaphragm, inside the carb, is called? It looks like a funnel and has tiny holes at the bottom. Is it called float assembly by any chance? I guess my bike would soon need a replacement for that thing.

the things called a slider...it has a needle at the bottom rite?

quote from webbie:

This slide did a couple of things. First, it provided a restriction in the bore to create a venturi. Since it can go up and down it is considered to be a "variable venturi". And second, the slide had a tapered needle on the bottom which it moved up and down in the "fuel hole" to vary the amount of fuel available from that orifice. At the slide's lowest position, the needle almost fills the hole, allowing little if any fuel to enter the small air stream. But as the slide is raised, the taper allows more fuel to pass into the air stream to combine with the greater amount of air now available. In this way a good air-fuel ratio can be maintained to meet the needs of the engine at different speeds and conditions (accelerating, cruising at steady speeds, etc.)

so it cost 20 bucks to replace if faulty right?

Thanks bro, yeah it has a needle at the bottom. I am wondering what the part is called in the spare parts list.

Many factors involved. Main thing is the way it is measured. How often do you top up and how much? When you say you get 500kms is it for every 13 ltrs,15 ltrs or 18 Ltrs? I top up everytime when it is 2 bars remaining and reserve light keeps switching on and off randomly i.e. every 13 Ltrs and I get around 600kms I guess. Mine is UG3. Also UG2 is more fuel efficient than UG3 or P200.

If you do long journeys on expressways at constant speeds and around 6k RPM, without much braking, that is the best setup for good FC. Short journeys on normal roads is bad because the best FC is achieved when engine temperature is high. Short journeys engine temperature is low for major part of it.

Also check your AFR ratio. If it is too rich then you get bad FC. If you it too lean you get awesome FC, but its bad for the engine and you dont get much power. Optimal AFR gets decent FC and good for your engine too.

Hmm 500km/ltr on a p200 every 13/14 km not that bad actually. When people say they get 650/750 per full tank they mean 17-19 ltrs :) and may be for p180.

Afr is air to fuel ratio, it is controlled by a screw on the carb. MJ bro posted sometime back. It's best left to professionals to tune it. Although you can do trial and error by turning quarter turn every time and see the result hehe

why only for p180? meaning p180 fc is better than 200?

cos it comes in a set :

2 DJ121051 Vaccum Piston Kit

reason why it is difficult to buy the diaphrgm only .... cos the diaphrgm, slider, spring, and jet needle ( do mind Jet Needle is not Needle Jet .. dont be confuse ) are one unit (parts no DJ121051) !!! ...

make me wonders how UM can have the diaphrgm and selling individually ... jeng jeng jeng
