To convince your family, take them on a trip to India or any developing country and show them how may people ride motorcycle vs cars and how rough the riding is.

Atleast in Singapore its much more disciplined :)

If Singaporeans shun riding motorcycles, then most of the other countries where it is even more dangerous should also stop riding, then motorcycle riding will become like an adventure sport like bungee jumping

It's ok.. I am half Indonesian and my family and I do go back Indonesia atleast twice a year.. At times I do agree with my family that SG is dangerous for riders, yes developing countries have more bikes than cars.. I'm sad to say that the danger is not due to the ratio between cars and bikes alone.. I've realised that there is this "double standard" kind of living in SG, I drive car you ride bike, you should give way to me kind of thing.. Imagine this, even when driving a normal car.. Those "big cars" have this kinda of mentality towards us.. What more when we're riding, we're just "second-class" road users.. I've read a signature before stating something like, when we ride we must not only look out for ourself but others also.. People in SG just have problem giving way to others, off course I'm not saying that everyone is like that.. But that's the sad ugly truth..

Everywhere cars have right over bikes. Everywhere bikes are bullied. At least here we are allowed to ride in proper lanes. But I agree with you, giving way is not happening in SG. When I compare to thee countries, SG drivers are just not polite and kind to each other. Not just with bikes, but with each other too.

FC depends on many factors:

- tyres size and age

- load on the bike (pillion, luggage)

- average speed and of constant or not

- type of rising style

2 riders can ride the same bike at the same speed on the same distance an get a different speed. We don't all throttle, brake, slow down and change gears the same way...

Maybe Bali is a better place. Not only Bali is 1 million times better than Batam as a location to visit but also sometimes you do get cheap airline tickets to Bali on Jetstar if you book in advance, I have seen tickets as cheaps as 29$ one way

Also Bali is much larger place so most likely part may be available there.

the most shocking to me is seeing adult participants bringing along their children and young ones along. and yeah, they have the yellow t shirt fit for children sizes too. its all planned indeed.

Yesterday went to recce the route for the beach trip on Sunday 6th May.

I checked out Temalah Beach on the way, and it's a very nice location, with only a few locals (mostly kids).

Very quiet, breezy, with lots of shade and space to park the bikes by the beach front.

There are no facilities except one chalet there which means unlike Desaru with lots of resorts, we will need to bring all our food & drinks with us. (or Buy at Kota Tinggi, our previous stop).

I'll post photos in a bit.

First, the route to go to both beaches. We can do Temalah and back the same way, or do a loop to Desaru via Tanjung Sedili and come back via the new highway.

All the details are below, the estimated ride time are indicated as a projection for a group ride.

I thought this was to demand "cleaner" elections, how is that linked to religion ? (although, I'm not really surprised, seeing that Turkey is the only Muslim country on Earth so far who managed to separate its democracy from Islam !)

Quick report on the road so those who've never been to that part of MY know :

Road 3 in and exiting JB is always VERY crowded, with a few unexpected change of width impacting the first lane, so be extra careful and look far to see how traffic moves

Road outside of JB to Kota Tinggi is never completely empty. Expect less traffic on an early Sunday morning, but there still might be road users, mostly cars.

Road condition is good, no massive potholes, just small ones here and there not harmful.

Road after KT to Temalah has very little traffic, most of the traffic will be oncoming. A few bends with low visibility, follow the signage and stay alert as oncoming traffic loves to overtake in bends..

Coastal oad from Temalah/Tanjung Sedili to Desaru is wide and nice to ride, but with a few big potholes here and there so careful especially when speeding if road is empty.

Desaru Highway: there's actually just a very small portion that is actual highway: up until Sungai Johor bridge, it's a 2 way road. So if crowded it can be very slow, bikes to ride on the emergency half-lane with extreme caution. The road, even if brand new, already has cracks, land slides and big potholes so be careful.

The highway portion to JB is kinda short but smooth.
