guys, i last weekend did my DIY C.A.I (Cold Air Intake) cost only $1 for a fish tan fliter hose. taking more air to air box. for better fuel consumption.

will update my FC soon.. stay tune.

Bro, i dun mean to splash cold water. but i feel that it will make no diff....

cold air intake needs to at least have 5degrees of diff to have increase oxygen intake.

even if achieved, more oxygen dun give better consumption, to complete a cycle of combustion, more fuel needs to compensate so is the other way rd... ur FC will increase.U will have poorer FC no better.

Ya. I thought cold air intake is to increase power rite, not for better FC. More power = higher FC.

Lindavw is rite. More oxygen intake will require a proportionate increase in fuel intake to maintain the fuel-air ratio. Otherwise the engine will run too lean. So confirm lah higher FC.

Correct me if I'm wrong cos I'm not an expert in this hor. Just my 2-cents worth based on my humble knowledge

Also, after 240km, fuel gauge still show as full (12 bars)

Fuel gauges (whether analogue or digital) are like that, they're not linear (even for cars). Full indication doesn't mean full tank, likewise half indication doesn't mean half tank.

Here's my 2cents on CAI. From what I read on totalpet's post, he is just adding a new source of cold air into the airbox. If the air box and the filter is stock, the cold air (containing more oxygen) will give a more complete combustion which also equates to a more powerful combustion.

With proper tuning to harness this advantage, there will be an increase in the power of the bike. With a more complete combustion you will actually reduce wasted petrol that is not combusted.

My explanation to increase in fuel consumption is that usually with improve power, we tend to ride our bike harder. This reults in higher FC. If we can restrain ourselves and rides as we used to, most likely we will be able to see an improvement in fc.

This is basically the same explanation with fixing a k&n filter.

K&N = higher air flow = more oxygen = more complete combustion (with proper tuning) = more power = whack bike more = higher fuel consumption

CAI = denser air in air box = more oxygen = more complete combustion (with proper tuning) = more power = whack bike more = higher fuel consumption

replace "whack bike more" with "never whack bike" you will get improvement in FC.

I believe that pic is a photoshopped pic of a KTM bike when there is a news on KTM and BAJAJ joining hands to manufacture bikes.

btw i using k&n filter.. :cheeky:

abt my CAI.. there is a tube at each side of my bike (near the block there).. nw thinking how to mod it lower ( the lower the more cold = more oxygen going in)

I hope you did not seal the airbox intake completely to your 2 hose.

It will be a good idea to use the hose to guide the cold air into the air box.

**But if you sealed the airbox intake to your hose, that means the only way air can get into your air box is via the 2 hose.

Going low with ** method, you can get get more cold air, but if you ride into floods, you bike will get choked. The worst case scenario is water entering your engine block at cause a big mess (water cannot be compressed).

Do keep us posted on your progress with your project.:thumb:

Clocked 330km to date and fuel gauge dropped 2 bars. Thanks for ur advise bro. What is the recommended distance to complete running in and change EO at what stage? Thanks! So far i have not exceeded 80km/h...mostly 70-75km/h... Now when i check EO level...can see its quite black.

i recommend u to change ur EO on 500km, 1500km, 3000km.

Black is normal la.

the manual recommend to change at 800,1600,2400 i think i cant remember oso hahahaha.

by 2000km running in should finished. but if u dun mind running slow then 3000km would be better IMHO.

Running in if u follow the manual it will tell u which gear cannot exceed wat speed correct.... but in fact actually first 500km dun exceed rpm5 then remaining 1500km dun exceed rpm7 should be ok la.

its up to u how u run in. some follow strictly by manual. some juz follow gut feeling but running in basic thing is dun exceed rpm7 on ANY gear.

ya dun seal up ur air box n leave 2 hoses outside if kena water or wat kena suck in ur block need to open up n clean.

anyway have u tot of using a fan to push cold air in instead? this way seems ezier n better than 2 small fish tank air hose la.

Frankly speaking i actually got think b4 this idea n the fan i got standby liaoz but no time to DIY mount the fan only hahahaha,
