That's the problem. Don't change gear too soon.

Try doing 1st gear up to 6-8k not whack!...just progress gradually)..if urs is vtec let it come thru..2nd gear same thing, 3rd gear same thing and so on depend on traffic situation but do regulate with the flow. When you have speed..and say about 35 to 80 meters away, there are stationary traffics ahead..clutch in and let the bike roll, don't everytime do engine braking..as you slow down..go fiddle down your gearing to prepare for a stop.

Have your idle above 1krpm..set at 1.2k is about best...so when start/stop riding..you don't 'load' the bike...as to do away with inertia and to gain momentum.

the method seems like not too bad to give it a try..:)

Pek..lately been trying to change gear fast (thus kicking up gears will be hard too) to have that pick up fast speed but MOST of the time the gear like will jam and not move up either stuck on neutral or from 2nd to 3rd,it will stuck on the 2nd which will create a loud engine sound...is this due to ''skill'', gear or engine oil?

ride safe today,ride again tomorrow

Get some green oil for your fuel mixture. Your cable may be jammed already or badly corroded. Try pulling the choke level assembly above the outer most carbs. Your starting problem is caused by the choke flap opening where dried fuel residue may have formed and blocking air. Just my guess but think I'm right.

Bike can crank is not starter brush issue. Most ppl do away with the choke cable for S4 when the choke cable is jammed or gone bad. Its a waste of $s to install a new one..oso will end up same problem afer sometime. Just poor the choke level from the carbs on the right side outer most carbs can liao. We hardly need the choke lah but in cold country..it be most useful.

Ppl always say eo lah..but not really though when vicosity low..still okay. Skill?...no lah. If your biting point and clutch cable are properly adjusted and clutch assembly ok..the only thing I can think off is your clutch cable need to be changed..it's either stretch, damaged (some strands is broken from the bundle)..or need oiling. To service the cable..take it out, put it upright, make a paper cone and tie it to the top end of the cable with a rubberband.then pout some light oil in the cone and let it slowly flow into the cable length and insulator. Pull the cable in and out to make sure oil travels rigt in.

Pull the choke linkage from the side..right outest carb all the way out and let off . It will throw back. Do a two or three times then start bike. Once bike warm up..rev a bit...shut off engine and do again. Repeat till you find no problem.

Can get green oil at Carefour in Paragon..or some other outlets..$6 a bottle and $29 for pack of 5. Premix 10 ml for every 10 litres of fuel.

For old bike..use higher "W". The higher the number the thicker the vicosity. Got 20/50W best..otherwise 10/40W...not necessary to use synthetic oil.

Alamak..like dat asked him check if the cable is damage or not first lah. If you want to knw how to oil it..may be one of this day rop by Tech Ghee and show you how..not worth paying for this simple job la...unless he can do for free.

Wow...tis qn has been asked quite a number of times...verS came out aft PB1 no vtec in this engine. Ver R is a rare ride and wat i've heard is the upgraded version of verS..Spec I, II, III all have vtec but each ride opens at different rpm..

Spec I, vtec opens at 7000rpm,

Spec II, vtec opens at 6300rpm,

Spec III, vtec opens at 6350rpm for first 5 gears, and 6750rpm for 6th gear...

eh I thought got some say some spec not too sure which model dont have vtec.? raw power de?

There is no replacement for displacement, except for Ah Seng

Either your fuel kork is leaking slighly or the float tempoarily stuck and petrol is sipping out the carbs overflow/drain tubings. There are 4 of them..one for each carb.

Correct me if i'm wrong, only Non-vtec version then got fuel **** right?

if the problem lies with the float, wats the solution? replacement of what parts?

Thanks again.

can any1 tell mi why and wats wrong when just now i crank my bike den suddenly got 1 very very loud bang. like a gunshot sound. whats wrong? its the 1st time i crank the bike. den crank again engine start le. thanks

Yap..you right..Vtec bikes don't have that fuel kock thingy however the flow thru diaghram 'druming' from the vaccum tube is the same in operation.

No part replacement needed..the caosued likely is that of gummy residue likely stuck at the right place that impaired the float to function..like the 'hinge' where the float is supported. What you can do is use a long flat (size of test pen or slightly larger) head screw driver and turn the drain screw of carbs (located at the base of the carbs each facing you depending on left or right). There are four of them, one for each carbs. Let the fuel in the carb's basin flow out. Make sure do this when engine is cold.

after all is done..screwed back and shut the drain screw and turn the throttle a few times. Now on the bike and crank a few times and let it start.

If the problem does not go away..try another time and if still persist..time to open up carbs to check.

The leak is caused by the float not floating when fuel filled up carbs basin. Its supposed to float and pushes a shut off 'valve' from incoming petrol. That small pointed spring cut off 'vavle' pin may be faulty. There are four of them...hardly give faults.

Good luck.

You be wasting ur time and money balancing bike wheels unless you are a pro racer for the day. Is your tyre up to speed spec or how fast can your bike provide what the tyre can handle.

Tyre balancing is usually most usefully done when changing to a new set of tyres but the so call balance will be usless after your tyre is half worn or the next time you change another brand of tyres. In short..no need lah for day to day routine use and that occassional session of chasing a R1.

Well, thanks for your advice! I'm glad I didn't waste that precious $$ on balancing the tyres. :p

Instead, I used the $$ to get myself a new set of DID chain and sprocket! :thumb:

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:
