I wouldn't consider that a DIY alarm due to "Main Controller Unit - Steelmate Alarm System". From what I see, it's just DIY I/O hookup of the purchased alarm system. DIY fix, yes, DIY alarm, I'll have to disagree.

i see..u mean still have to pay for controller??:dot:

hey JTZX (or any xpert who can ) how about u diy one controller??

while posting another idea came..instaed of bottle ..we can try to get a pipe to fit the 30 mm dia pump ( i reliase that the shampoo bottle pump is a stand alone pump.and it does no need the fittings to the bottle/pipes to be water proof to get going...and this makes it perfect for our use. all we need is to make it secure between pump and pipe/hose etc...)...to make it not so obvioue may be can paint it the came colour or black to macth the bike/frame..

i will modify it to fix with my 1" plastic hose..and see how it will look...

guys put on your thinking cap and lets brain storm to make it beter.

Ok here are the drafts to my ideas.

Oiler 1 is the standard type, bottle, with valve, TAP or fuel c0ck.

The 1st TAP allows the Engine oil into the 2nd Hose which acts as a reservior to hold the required amount of chain lube for 1 day's use. 2nd tap regulates the rate of dripping onto the chain.

Oiler 2 is Bottle with pump, so we can cut down on the cost of 1 TAP.

Using the pump instead of a TAP also cut down the effort needed to drill and seal up the hole used for fitting the 1st TAP.

Oiler 3 is 2 thick Hoses connected to TAPS and the small dispenser rubber hose. The design is for those whose bike have no space to mount the bottle. Draw back of the design is that the hose max capacity is a lot lesser than the other 2 design, but it's more versatile.

The DIY project BOM tells it all... McGuyver would have been proud if you managed to build an alarm out of these parts. If you're talking about a normal bike alarm, at least also need MCU and RX/TX parts bah?

2xSPST relay $4 ($2 each)

1xSPDT relay $1.50

Solder $1

Circuit board $2.50

Wire (2m) $2

2 x diode $1.80 (0.90 each)

Total = $11.30

yeah sound and look great..

so JTZX...maybe u lead the next DIY..?? i will be looking forward to it..

another great project....

haha.. i need to go understand his whole DIY thingy first ;-)

hmmm... that i have to go ask that guy who DIY.. cause he provided the circuit diagram already... hehe.. see how things go..

For now let's concentrate on the Oiler..

so looking forward for mepkoh DIY oiler :p

yeah somethign like that...

the qty of oil in the no.3 design...and the last pump/hose design.=limitless..hahah depending on the length and dia of the pipes...

just like some bikres have the petrol stored in the frame...u can store the oil in it too..or even in the handle bars...the combi is up to your imagination...

so guys u can come up with your own design..

the diy will use the gavity method with pump/hose and a control valve to control the final flow rate..

so the bill of material is something like this.

1. pump x1 (foc)

2. 1" hose 25cm . long..(will cut to your prefered length) ($0.30) oil storage

3. 5mm dia hose 1m long.($1.00)

4. stainless steel valve x1 ($1.3)

5. aqurim air hose 1m long ($0.300)

6.cable ties x20 pcs. ($0.40)

7. eo..100ML ($0.50)

8 cork x1 ($0.50)..or bring your own..get it from wine bottles or sauces bottle etc.

9. steel wire ..$0.20..

total cost estimated $4.50...

PLUS 1 FREE SCuBBer

the excess money goes towards any unforseen material purchase..and oversea food dinner trip...

hey forget the steel wire spool...$0.20..ea.

hahatotal $4.5...still damn cheap..

calling all diy enthusiast...$4.5 solves your oiling and chain cleaning...

i am very happy the diy is going ...for a mere $4.5 + 0.5hr of labour..

all ready to go...

it is the best time and money spent...IMHO...

ahhaha..$4.5...a chain cleaning and oiling solution..

anyway a vey satisfying project...even before i finish the design..now that the final diy design is firmed..i can sleep very well to night.

those with alternating design ..come and diy too...

i still say i must be crazy to give away the scubber....

just imagine the LOOpman is 17.99pounds.

the scottoiler is US$150.

some with electronic controls goes as high as US$300..

note all are oiling devices...no chain cleaning..

so what do you say to $4.5..including chain cleaner..the scubber.

i still say i must be mad to give it away free.

i have not bought anything..except spend more than $20..testig this testing that,,,

the EO that will be used is the CAR LUBE brand at Giant...this is a fully synthectic car EO..long life EO..aprroved by BMW , Merz....etc.

$20+++ for a 4 L..bring yours too incase we run out..

just waiting for the final no..before i bring in all those stuff..

i think it will be fun...with the scubber rmoving the gooo...

I got 1/2 bottle of 2T oil, been using it for the last month, not as good as Engine oil or Gear oil though. :cheeky:

hey..the oiler and scubber work well with light EO...just loosen goo and the scubber goes to work .I thinl it shoul work beter with light EO...

Havent tested with thick EO...It may work well too..

hhaaha..what kind of goo u prefer on your wheels...soft one or hard one...then u can decide which eo to use....to me light one do fine cheaper ma.

if u want to use gear oil or sae90...try Car Lube automatic trasmission oil.$50++ for 4 L..

compare to $20/L gear oil..or $20/4 L EO

well those who dont want the unsightly bottle( or a 22mm dia x 120mm tube)storage, can op for the tubes and 2 valves method..

eg. lets say the tube 8mm dia is to be used for storage..

the area of the tube is 8mm dia......the oil storage qty=pi.8.8/4 times 1000mm long. which turns out to be about48ml....if u want more or less storage u cut the storage tube to any length that is suitable for u.The tubes cab be installed anywhere on your bike the length is infinite..just run the tube on th ebike. The disadvantage is that u have to turn it on and off after every ride. if u forget. to turn off.u end emptying all the oil on the floor..this is a big safety issue to all user of the motorcycle park...to yourself and others. and the cleaner will be pissed off.

1) The proposed design..is with the pump and hose/tube as a oil storage..u just need to bring the pump and cork( if u dont have cork we will buy it). and 1 valve to control the oiling fflow rate...See the latest picture 0f hose with pump attached...this will replace the bottle ..

2.)off course bring your own bottle/pump if u dont want the hose/pump combination.

3) those who want the medicines dsign of 2 valves ..also can...

so u choose 1,2 or 3..

other special dsign bring all the material ..if the requestor need help, i will try to assemble and fix it with him.

what u see on my bike is just pump/tube...no valves..

there are certain procedures to adhere to..like have to figure out..the delivery time once u pump in the oil...my bike time is 5 to 10 seconds. that is to say..once apump there is the delay time before it reaches the oiling point. this is just fine. Pump and begin ride the device will start to oil after the delay time. and that is u are already moving.

here is another mock up ..i believ some may like it..

the bottle height is 11cm....to the tip of pump it dia is 40mm and the max oil height is 50mm.( about 50ml )

the mock up...the alu pipe is your bike frame and the wooden horizontal piece is your swing arm...yeah kjust imagine how it will look on your bike.

How does the other end look like?

Any photos on the end that touches the chain?

And we have to find a better way to secure it, I will bring a small roll of aluminium brackets too to experiment.

I was thinking of using Red Bull or Nescafe cans in place of the Engine Oil Bottle.

More stylo Milo right? :D

But question is can the pump still work if we insert the pump into the drink can?

wah Jtzx..really great to have you here drumming up interest thank you--...dont be so excited. the no. participating is 12..

still have 8 more to go...the meet is on 12 Sept...which is 2 weeks later..hopefully by then the list will be filled up.

went to giant to look at the Car Lube fully Synthectic 5w-40 car EO..oil..The price is $29.99/5 L=$6/L...

when all have filled the storage bottle if any left u ncan brineg it home for future top up... The std fill is 100ml..bal th efill will go up..so bring along a small bottle to bring home.

the above picture shows the smallest bottle with pump...$1.20 ea..:thumb:

it is very compact...and can hold about 50ml of oil..maybe good for 2 weeks ride if pump once /day.

u will notice that delivery tube is big..covering the pump outlet, hopefully the oil dont spill out or flow backwards dur..ing the operation..it is unlikely..

But question is can the pump still work if we insert the pump into the drink can?

as the pump can work alone..u just placed it into the can..as long as the can and pump is rigid and stays during the pumping action..no problem..

u are a fan of RED BULL or balck dog or whatever container it will work.the trick is to secure it,,,and the pump can work freely..If the hole is in the can is large, spillage may occur, for this u have to make some sort of cover which i believe can be easily done.

as to the proposed design...the other end is just a tube..step down in size to the smallest dia for oiling. U can add 1 valve towards the end to control the flow.

But take note..u have to secure the valve properly...with time/long use who knows what will happen. the valve can be dislodge and if it gets into the sprocket..(touch wood..nothing of this happens.)..not only damge the chain/sprockets, aslo bodily harm can happen...

if a bracket is installed...it should be stronger and tougher..

a 3x2 inch bracket, with several holes drilled into it..

the holes are meant to secure bracket to swing arm..and other holes to secure the valve and align the oiling tip.via cable ties (or hose clamps..which i prefer)

for oiling..the best position is at the both sides of rear sprocket, just at the point where the sprocket and chain meet(for a 2 tip oiler)...u oil the sprocket not the chain..the spinning sprocket will cause the oil to fling outwards as aresult of the centripetal forces.. thus oiling the both sides of the chains and sprockets.(not centrifugal..this is a force acting towards the ccentre of a rotaing dis/drum/wheel..please take note and dont make a common mistake of identifying the forces at work as centrifugal forces). in our case a single tip..we will aim it at the chain roller just before the chain come into contact wiith the sprocket.
